Frederick "Fred" Lee Tupica
Age 60 of Edmore, Michigan formerly of the Ashley area passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at Carson City Hospital in Carson City. He retired in 1997 from Lobdell-Emery in Alma, Michigan.
Per his request there will be no services.
Frederick was born on October 26, 1941 in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of Michael & Beatrice (Stanek) Tupica. He graduated from Ashley High School with the Class of 1959. He was an avid collector of Native American Artifacts. He also enjoyed all outdoor activities and sports. He resided in the Ashley area moving to Edmore in 1997.
He is survived by one son, Tony & Michele Tupica of Ashley, two daughters, Jole & Steve Hill of Crystal, Lynna Tupica & John Radley of Boston, MA, five grandchildren, Michael, Mary, Mark, Elizabeth, and Isabell, one sister, Lorraine Hess of Midland, and one brother, Richard Tupica of Ashley. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Burr D. Eveleth Jr.
Age 87 of Caseville, Michigan formerly of Corunna and Ubly passed away Monday, September 23, 2002 at his home. He was a Postmaster for the US Postal Service.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Corunna, Michigan. Rev. David Kulchar will officiate with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery in Corunna. Visitation will be Thursday evening 7-9 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel.
Burr was born on July 5, 1915 in Corunna, Michigan, the son of Burr D. & Eva (Edwards) Eveleth Sr. He graduated from Corunna High School with the Class of 1933. He also attended Chicago Technical College for Drafting, Design & Plan Reading. On July 15, 1939 he married Lillian M. Ogle. They were married for 63 years. He was a past member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Corunna. He was a World War II Veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and was a member of Corunna VFW. He enjoyed bowling and sports of all kinds and also loved spending time with his family.
Burr is survived his wife, Lillian M. Eveleth of Caseville, daughter Estella M. (Thorne J.) Brown of Grand Rapids, son Charles F. (Judith) Eveleth of West Bloomfield, daughter Sarah E. (C. Michael) Jacobson of Haslett, daughter Eva V. (Jerome J.) Kobes of Holland, 12 grandchildren, Deborah Donnellon, Bridget & Kristen Brown, Charles, Jill & Timothy Eveleth, Maija Bentley, Amy & Laura Jacobson, and Ian, Evan & Robyn Kobes.

LeRoy James Strouse
Age 51 of St. Louis, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma, Michigan. He was employed at Kmart in Alma as a receiving clerk for the past 15 years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Alward-Carter Chapel in St. Louis. Mr. Keith Wise will officiate with burial at Porter Township Cemetery, Midland County, Michigan. Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 6-8 P.m.
LeRoy was born on October 29, 1950 in Gratiot County, Michigan, the son of Louis Robert and Frances M. Wayne Strouse. He attended St. Louis Schools and graduated with the Class of 1969. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He loved to ride dirt bike and enjoyed working on mechanical and electrical items. In the past, he also enjoyed deer hunting. He was a St. Louis resident most of his life.
He is survived by 2 brothers, Charles Strouse of Peoria, IL, Robert & LuAnne Strouse of Ft. Myers, FL, 2 sisters, Sharon Carter of Alma, and Melva & Paul Eldredge of Riverdale, 12 nieces & nephews, 7 great nieces & nephews, also several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister Vicky, and 1 brother Lewis John Strouse.
