Ruth I. Parrish
Age 58 of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001 at her home.
Ruth retired from the US Postal Service in January of 2000.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2001 at 1:00 P.m. at St. Louis Church of Christ in St. Louis, with Mr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be at Alward-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday 7-9 and Wednesday 2-9, with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m.
She was born in Elwell, Michigan on September 13, 1942 the daughter of William Theodore and Elaine Ruth (Kelly) Mahin. On February 17, 1963 she married Robert H. Parrish in St. Louis, Michigan. She did flower gardening, needlepoint, cross-stitch, and crocheting. She was also a member of St. Louis Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Parrish of St. Louis, MI, two daughters, Peggy Sue Zinn of Mt. Pleasant, MI, and Penelope Lynn (Donald) Tohm of St. Charles, MI, two brothers, William Mahin Jr. & Marilyn Howes, of Vancouver, WA, and Richard (Mary) Mahin of Riverdale, MI, her father, William T. Mahin Sr., and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Elaine Ruth Price.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis Church of Christ or Central Michigan Hospice.

Catherine I. McLane
Age 92 of Corunna, Michigan passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility in Corunna.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at 11:00 A.m. at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Rev. Fr. David Fisher will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, Michigan. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday 2-9, with the family present from 2-4 and 7-9 P.m. There will also be a Rosary Service Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.m.
Catherine was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 5, 1908, the daughter of John and Mary (Liner) McKay. On May 9, 1928 she married Herman G. McLane in Owosso, Michigan. They were married for over 71 years. She was a homemaker, and an avid seamstress, making most of her daughters’ clothing when they were growing up. She was a devoted wife and loved her family. She lived most of her life in Corunna, Michigan.
Survivors include two son-in-laws, Don Mehigh of Corunna, MI, and Gene (Laurae) Brown of Owosso, MI, five grandchildren, Greg Brown, Gigi Washburn, Jeff Brown, Todd Mehigh, and Trena Turnwald, seven great granddaughters, one sister, Beulah (Frank) Gross of Beaverton, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, two daughters, Marilyn Mehigh and Dorothy Brown, four brothers and five sisters.

Alma Louise Hammond
Alma Louise Hammond age 98 of Corunna died Saturday, January 20, 2001 at Autumwood Nursing Home in McBain, Michigan
Funeral services will be Monday, 2:00 P.M., January 22, 2001 at Smith Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel. Visitation will be Monday 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Owosso, Michigan. Pastor Jonathan Balge will officiate.
Alma was born in Shiawassee County on February 13, 1902 the daughter of Louis A. and Anna ( Ruess ) Otto. She resided most of her life in Shiawassee County. On June 26, 1929 she and Floyd W. Hammond were married. Floyd died February 7, 1974. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Owosso and a former member of the Salem Lutheran Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patricia Hammond of Cadillac, Michigan, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 1 brother David Otto of Laingsburg, Michigan, several nieces & nephews. Her parents, husband and 2 sons Wilber & Jim and 2 brothers predeceased her.

DeLance C.E. Alward
Age 30 of Alma, Michigan passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 11:00 A.m., at the First United Methodist Church in St. Louis. Rev. Robert Nystrom will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, Michigan. Visitation will be at Alward-Carter Funeral Home on Thursday 7-9 and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 P.m.
DeLance was born in Alma, Michigan on February 4, 1971, the son of DeLance C. and Norma Mae (Hale) Alward Sr. He graduated from Ithaca High School with the Class of 1992. He worked for Mid-Michigan Industry in Alma. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Louis and also a member of the Friendship Group. He resided most of his life in St. Louis until moving to Alma two years ago.
Survivors include his father, DeLance C. Alward Sr. of St. Louis, MI, his mother Norma Mae Alward of Alma, MI, one sister Christine (Steve) Huber of Mt. Morris, MI, and one nephew Skylar Alward of Mt. Morris, MI.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Hale, grandparents Alward, and grandfather Ebnit.
