Ronald H. “Sam” Theodorski
Ronald H. Theodorski, 70, of Charlotte passed away March 13 in Charlotte.
He was born March 25, 1928 in Lansing. Sam retired from General Motors where he was a supervisor for many years. He also served in the U.S. Army and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by son Todd in 1997.
Surviving are his wife, Katy (Hosey); son, Jeffrey; grandchildren, Jordan and Jeffrey and three brothers.
Services will be held Thursday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at New Hope Community Church, 436 W. Harris St., Charlotte with Rev. Randy Royston officiating.

Georgia Thomas
Georgia M. (Rundle-Loveland-Soule) Thomas, 78, of Charlotte, died Friday, March 27, 2009 after an extended illness. Georgia was born Nov. 12, 1930 in Walton Township, Eaton County, the daughter of Claude and Letha (Brandt) Rundle and had been a lifelong resident of Eaton County. She was a graduate of Olivet High School and had been employed at the former Wilcox-Gay Co. of Charlotte, The Republican-Tribune newspaper of Charlotte and in the Human Resources Dept. at AE/Hoover in Charlotte. She was a member of the Charlotte First Congregational Church and the Marshall Moose Lodge.
Surviving are: her son, Michael (Wanda) Loveland of Charlotte; her daughter, Trudy (Darrold) Lehman of Olivet; five grandchildren, Michael (Lynn) Loveland, Jr. Troy (Heather) Loveland, Stacy (Scott) Meek, Jody (Tyler) Kent and Michael Thompson and two great grandchildren, Kila Meek and Kamrin Meek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Robert Soule and Carl Thomas; sisters, Helen Crilly and Doris Masters and brother, Ellet Rundle.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or Eaton community Hospice.
Arlene (Cooper) Thompson
Arlene (Cooper) Thompson, 85, formerly of Charlotte, passed away on Aug. 13, 2009 at Orange Park Medical Center, in Jacksonville, FL.
Thompson was born on Oct. 24, 1923 in Battle Creek. She moved to Jacksonville, Fla. after the death of her husband of 52 years, Clarence Cooper of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Laura and Clair French, of Bellevue, and sister Bonnie Wood of Nashville.
She is survived by her current husband, Kenneth Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla., loving children, Roxanne Graham and late son-in-law Kenneth Graham of Jacksonville, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Penny Cooper of Charlotte, and daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Paul Kays of Hendersonville, NC and brothers, Keith (Barb) French, Jack (Bertha) French, and Gaylen (Melba) French. Sister Carol (Ed) Whiting. Thompson is also survived by six grandchildren, Tika and John Scheurer, Tim and Christina Graham, of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim and Shannon Junger of Olivet, Tonya Cooper of Charlotte, Kara and Dave O’Neil of Harbor Springs, and Steve Kays of Mooresville, NC and 10 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Center Eaton Cemetery, Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2 pm with Reverend Jack Brown officiating.
David Thompson
Dr. David Thompson, of Olivet, 53, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 as the result of an auto accident. Dr. Thompson was born Sept. 12, 1956 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the son of Earnest and Jean (Davidson) Thompson and had been an Olivet resident since August of 1998.
He was currently an adjunct professor of mathematics at Lansing Community College and formerly taught at Olivet College. David’s joy in life was time spent with his daughters. His friends remember his passion for music, literature, and the arts. He will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Davidson Thompson.
Surviving are two daughters, Zoe and Amelia Thompson both of Olivet; former wife, Kirsten Almo of Olivet; his father, Ernest Thompson of Northern Ireland and his brother, John Thompson of Scotland.
Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at the Olivet Congregational Church in Olivet with Pastor Jack Brown officiating. Memorial contributions may go to the Siren-Eaton Shelter or community Mental Health. Arrangements by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Zelma Thornton
Zelma L. (Wardwell) Thornton, 89, of Olivet, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at the Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital in Charlotte. She was born June 19, 1920 in Tiger, Wash., the daughter of Cort Lee and Delia (Simpkins) Wardwell and had been an Olivet resident since 1937.
She had attended the St. Johns and Charlotte Schools. She was a life member of the Grange, joining in 1938; was a life member of the Olivet O.E.S., joining in 1945 and served as Worthy Matron in 1952 and 1969. She was president of the Eaton County Association in 1967 and served as Grand Villa Committee Woman of Grand Chapter of Michigan in 1968. She was president and secretary of Parks, Regard Grand Family in 1988. She was currently a member of the Kalama O.E.S. #399 and was also a member of the Olivet Congregational Church. She had been employed in the cafeteria of the Olivet Community Schools from 1963 until she retired in 1984. She was married to Karl E. Thornton on Mar. 27, 1937 in Auburn, Ind. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Naomi Ingram and Virginia Thornton. Surviving are her son, Kevin (Juanita) Thornton of Olivet and three grandsons, Blain (Jennifer) Thornton, Brock (Jessica Sneed) Thornton and Blake Thornton.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Dave Burnett, Pastor Jack Brown and Kalamo O.E.S. #399 officiating. Interment was in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eaton Community Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
Shirley A. Tidd
Shirley A. Tidd, 73, of Springport, formerly of Homer and Albion, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at her residence. She was born June 16, 1936 to Earl and Mary (Taylor) Pelton in Spring Arbor.
On July 2, 1955 she married James W. Tidd in Homer, and he is surviving.
Shirley came to Homer as a small child moving to Albion in 1980. She was a Graduate of Homer High School in 1954 then she attended Western Michigan University. She was the Former Office Manager of Calhoun Foundry in Homer.
She worked with her husband at the Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels as Office Manager. She was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church, Duck Lake County Club & Ladies Association and Hospital Service League.
She has been bridge chairman and currently co-chairman of the Bridge Club at Duck Lake. She was chairperson for couples Bridge player and loved her needlepoint. She was also founder of the Book Swap Club of Duck Lake.
She is survived by husband, James W. Tidd of Springport; daughter Robin (Donald) Drumm of Homer; sons J. Kevin Tidd and Nancy Travis of Litchfield, Andrew Scott Tidd and Louise Dean of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorrine Hanks and Jeanne Elder; and five brothers, Paul Truax and Jim, Ike, Dick, and Bob Pelton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were Saturday Nov. 21, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Homer.

Gerald “Jerry” L. Tooker
Gerald “Jerry” L. Tooker of Eaton Rapids, age 66 died Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Raton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Born September 24, 1942 in Eaton Rapids the son of Earl Lavern and Helen (Whipp) Tooker. Jerry was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate and served in the Army during the Viet Nam War. He was a Systems Analyst for Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Co. in Lansing, and was a member of the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed fishing, and loved the game of golf.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; daughter, Alicia Taylor of Lansing; son, Brian (Joanne) Tooker of Aurora, CO.; son-in-law, Kevin Taylor of Holt; grandson, Taylor Ball of Eaton Rapids; brother Dale (Judy) Tooker of Montrose, CO.; sister, Carol Ottney of Eaton Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church with Rev. Frank Klassen, officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Rose Torre
Rose (DiMaggio) Torre, 91, of Louisville Ky. passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009. She was born Aug. 4, 1917 in Albion.
Rose lived most of her life in Eaton Rapids, and was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She loved cooking entertaining and growing roses. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards with her grandchildren. She and her husband, Joe, opened their home and their hearts to many VFW alumni.
Rose was a beloved grandmother and aunt. She cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosalie and Vencezo DiMaggio, her brothers, Samuel and James’ her sister, Sarah Cepuch; and her husband, Joe Torre.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Catherine Morrow (Richard) of Louisville, Ky., Rosalie Gates-Gossman (Gerry) of Chicago, Ill., Joan Florence, Ala.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.
Her funeral service was held March 28, 2009 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
William Turner
William "Bill" Turner, 73, Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 in Charlotte. He was born March 19, 1935 in Charlotte.
Bill was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He retired from Oldsmobile after 37 years of service. Bill was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Charlotte. He enjoyed gardening - both flowers and vegetables; and bowling for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Charlotte VFW Post 1234.
Preceded in death by his wife, Agatha M. (Steele) Turner; father, Charles Turner; mother, Crystal (Losey) Gardner; sister, Jackie Sonnenberg, Bill is survived by one daughter, Tammie (Mike) Newhouse of Middleville; two sons, Tim Turner of League City, Texas and Tom (Kelly) Turner of Eaton Rapids; four grandchildren, Justin and Ian Turner, Samantha Turner and Matthew Newhouse.
Funeral services were held Feb. 11, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
