June Marie (Vliek) Rabbitt
June Marie (Vliek) Rabbitt, 80, of Bellevue, died April 27, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, Battle Creek. She was born July 30, 1928, the daughter of Joe and Joanne (Schultz) Vliek in Elkart, Indiana.
June graduated from Nashville High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. She worked as a teacher and librarian at the Bellevue Schools, retiring in 1986. June married John E. Rabbitt on Aug. 20, 1950. She is survived by her husband, John of Bellevue; children, John J. (Mary) Rabbitt of Bellevue, Janet (Rabbitt) Delong of Jenison and Julie (Rabbitt) (Jim) Walker of Battle Creek; grandchildren, James Rabbitt, Chris Rabbitt, Allison DeLong and Rebecca DeLong and sister, Joan (Vliek) (James) VanSickle of Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and brother, Joe Vliek.
June was the co-founder of the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Fund, past president of Delta Kappa Gamma and Retired Teachers Associations of Bellevue and Eaton County. She was a member of the Kalamo Order of Eastern Star and Baseline United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending winters at their home in Texas. Funeral services took place Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Baseline United Methodist Church with Pastor Virginia Heller, officiating. Interment followed at Hicks Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Fund.

John Raines
John William Raines, 67, of Charlotte, died Monday, April 20, 2009. Mr. Raines was born April 23, 1941 the son of Fred and Beatrice (Paine) Raines.
Mr. Raines was employed at Fowlers, Diamond Reo Manufacturing and retired from Care Free Windows.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Fern, Harley, Ruby, Thelma, Maxine and grandson, Andrew.
He is survived by his sons, Todd (Miriam) Raines of Nashville, Jeff (Shannon) Raines of Charlotte; daughter, Melissa (Pat) Berry of Howell; grandchildren, Jordan, Jace, Presley, Jenna, Brice, Brent, Brad, Stephanie and Dara; sister, Sue Lass of Charlotte; many beloved nieces and nephews; and former wife, Gloria.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 24, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jensen officiating. Interment was in Gresham Cemetery, Charlotte.

Norma L. Raymond
Norma L. Raymond, age 78 of Eaton Rapids died, Thursday, July 9, 2009 at a Lansing Hospital. Born July 1, 1931 in Leslie, the oldest of 6 daughters born to Truman and Florene (Walker) Whitney. Norma was a Leslie High School graduate; she had worked 9 years for Aero Quip in Leslie. She and her husband Rod owned and operated Rod’s Bar & Grill in Eaton Rapids for several years. Then later became a caregiver for many of the elderly in the Eaton Rapids area. She was currently a carrier for the Lansing State Journal and the Jackson citizen Patriot. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rod in 2008, and a daughter, Teresa Meeder.
She is survived by 4 children, son, Steve (Doris) Raymond of Onondaga and Gary (Shelia) Raymond of Mason; daughters, Leeann (Cluster) Smith of Lansing and Debra (Gary) Overholt of Mullikan; 8 grandchildren, Tracie (Brion) Bishop, Colt (Victoria) Meeder, Thad Raymond, Ryan (Tiana) Raymond, Matt Raymond, Megan (Zacary) Perfitt, Dana Raymond and Emily Smith; 8 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Barbara Fernald of Eaton Rapids, Galetta (Ron) Antes of Grand Ledge, Lois (Tom) Darrow of Mason, Judy (Bill) Craddock of Leslie and Jeannene (Bob) Corwin of Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 13th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed in the Plains Cemetery in Aurelius Township. Wilma Bell Redfield, 74, of Charlotte, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009. No services will be held.
Jean Reed
Jean M. Reed, 54, of Charlotte, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009. Ms. Reed was born Dec. 18, 1954 in Charlotte, the daughter of Merle and Katheryn (Smith) Klaiss.
Ms. Reed was a data entry operator for Horizon Cablevision. She loved spending time with her grandkids, watching the Detroit Tigers and “The Wizard of Oz.” Ms. Reed loved to go on road cruises and watching sunsets on Michigan beaches. She enjoyed cats, bowling, listening to Bob Seger and being in 4-H when she was young.
She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Klaiss and brother, Jim Klaiss.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffery (Giovana) Reed of Charlotte and Andrew (Bobbi Sue) Reed of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Trystin and Devin; mother, Katheryn Klaiss; brothers, Don (Jean) Klaiss and Fred (Nadine) Klaiss; sisters, Sue (Chris) Scott and Sally (Rod) McMichael.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Minister William Horton officiating. Interment was in west Carmel Cemetery, Charlotte. Nina Reed
Nina M. Reed, 89, of Flint, formerly of Vermontville, died Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009, at a west Branch nursing home. Mrs. Reed was born May 21, 1920 in Chester, a daughter of George and Gladys (Havens) Beard and was a member of the Vermontville United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Reed, in 1995.
Surviving are her daughter, Natalie K. (D. Mitchell) Vader of Flint; her son, Ross A. (Izetta) Reed of West Branch; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Gleason of Nashville.
Services were held Friday, July 10, 2008, at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastors Kathy Smith and D. Mitchell Vader officiating. Interment was in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Darren Moore, Kirt Moore, Neal Niswonger and Eric Reed.

Matthew Reza
Lance Corporal Matthew Gregory Reza, 27, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 near Khandahar province, Afghanistan, while serving his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Matthew was born Sept. 23, 1981 in Austin, Texas to Richard and Sharon Reza. He attended AISD schools and Austin Community College before enlisting in the Marines in 2007. Prior to joining the Marines, Matthew had a rewarding experience working a Hope House, a residential facility for children with special needs and often spoke about advancing his education and career in social work after his tour of duty.
Matthew will be readily remembered for his engaging personality, singular independence, exceptional sense of humor and kind heart. To many, he was a loyal friend and capable mentor, proficient at handling difficult situations with either his resourceful mind or engaging smile. To older family members, Matthew was the first grandchild, an old soul of exceptional intelligence who often discussed topics beyond his years. His younger sisters and best friend, Stephanie Peek, to whom he was fiercely devoted, especially loved him. Stephanie’s hero was a genuinely loving person who often put her needs, and those of many others, before his.
Matthew is survived by his wife Sarah Reza of Beaufort, South Carolina; mother, Sharon Reza; sister and brother-in-law Stephanie and Joshua Peek of Austin, Texas; father and stepmother Richard and Jodie Reza; brothers, Richard (Ricky) Reza and Joshua Graber; sisters, Emily Reza, Jami Graber and Jessica Graber of Charlotte and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Beverly Rhoads
Beverly F. Rhoads, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the age of 83 after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Rhoads and his brother, Paul Rhoads.
Bev is survived by his wife, Norah; daughter, Ruth (Howard) Sellick; son, Ronald (Linda) Rhoads; grandchildren, Colin (Cheryl) Sellick, Chad (Brenda) Sellick and Jeffrey Rhoads; great grandchildren, Cooper and Chase Sellick; brother, Dale (Sheila) Rhoads; sister, Janice (Bob) Thomson; sister-in-law, Gail Rhoads; brothers-in-law, Allan Howe and Wilbur (Marilyn) Flowers; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Bev’s request, cremation has taken place.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Potterville United Methodist Church, Potterville, on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11 a.m.
Memorial considerations to Eaton community Hospice, Charlotte, MI or Potterville United Methodist Church would be appreciated.

Lois Rich
Lois Maude Rich, 90, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Jan. 27, 2009. Lois was born Lois Maude Wyble on Dec. 2, 1918 in Kalamo Township, Eaton County, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wyble and Cecil (Rolfe) Wyble; 11 sisters and brothers, and her husband of 51 years, Albert James Rich.
Her family, including children Penny Strang of East Lansing, Pat MacMillan of Charlotte and Albert (Kathy) Rich of Grand Haven and grandchildren Heather Strang, Thad (Charamy) Cleary (great-grandchildren Kyler and Camden) and Ty (Camille) Cleary (great-grandchildren Taylor, Caleb and Sydney), will miss her deeply.
Private memorial services will be held on the family farm at a later date. The family was served by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Helen Rickle
Helen G. Rickle, 92, of Charlotte, died Sunday, March 1, 2009. Mrs. Rickle was born Jan. 23, 1917 in woodland, Mich., the daughter of Lloyd and Gylda (Conley) Hitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas in 1990; sister, Dorothy Smith and brother, Lloyd Hitt.
She is survived by her daughters, Dinah (Danny) Watson of Charlotte and Barbara (Dave) Root of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Phil (Angie) Root, Michelle (Michael) Ballard, Lisa (Michael) Baransin, Debbie (John) Bussard, Rebecca Ruhlig and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 6, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment was at Deepdale Cemetery in Lansing.
