Antonio Palacios
Antonio Palacios, 61, of Olivet, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at the Eaton Community Hospice House after an extended illness. Antonio was born May 18, 1948 in Mason, the son of Refugio and Petra (Ledesma) Palacios.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at the Olivet Congregational Church in Olivet with Rev. Jack Brown officiating.

Marjorie M. Paquette
Marjorie M. Paquette, age 84, passed away in Eaton Rapids on Tuesday May 26, 2009. Marjorie was born June 15, 1924 in Olivet, the daughter of Dada and Minerva (Brown) Buck. She enjoyed reading books and raising her cats. She was a homemaker all of her life.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Lorraine (Jerry) Earls of Parma, Debra Paquette of Eaton Rapids, Diane Howe of Lansing and Dorlisa (Dewayne) Smith of Lansing; 19 grandchildren; many, many great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Door; her parents and her brother, Buster Brown.
There was a graveside service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church in memory of Marjorie.

Rudy Pardo
Rudy Pardo of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, age 77 died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at a Lansing hospital. Born March 27, 1932 in Laredo, Texas the son of Manuel and Isidore (Rodriguez) Pardo. Rudy served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Fisher Body in Lansing and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #652. Rudy loved his wife and children and his happiest times were at home with them. He was a self taught whittler and had made many beautiful carvings; he also enjoyed Old Western’s and being around the Bon Fires at home. Preceding him in death were a son, Michael Christopher Pardo in 2007 and a brother, Albert Pardo.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; 3 children, Rose Marie (Gary) Long of Mason, Debra (Mark) Siple of Vermontville and Alan (Sabine) Pardo of Eaton Rapids; 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; 3 great grandson; brother, Mike Pardo of Lansing and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on May 7, 2009 form the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Roy LaVerne Parish Jr.
Roy LaVerne Parish Jr., 78, of Greenville died at home with his family present March 1.
He was born in Charlotte on July 29, 1930 the son of Roy and Marjorie Root Parish. Roy was a graduate of Charlotte High School with the Class of 1948 and was in manufacturing supervision during his working career retiring from Wolverine World Wide.
His love of his family was shared in his hobbies of fishing, camping and traveling. He was an expert in fly-fishing and enjoyed refinishing furniture and creating wood-working pieces and collecting antiques. In his youth he loved horseback riding and barrel racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Vera Parish; brothers, Blake, Home and George; sisters, Madeline and Betty; daughter, Deborah Suzanne Parish and Dixie’s brother, Roger Houghton in 2008.
He was married in Greenville on May 22, 1970 to Dixie Houghton Mahan. She survives along with their children, Rae Clise of Bath, Dean (Sandy Parish of Charlotte, Pam (Stoney) Redschweit of Lansing, Mary Parish of Kula, Hawaii, Shane (Julia) Mahan of California, Chris (Dione) Mahan of Tampa, Fla., Roy L. Rory Parish III of Greenville, Mia Parish Cox of Belding; 18 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Frances Suremann of Greenville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan Parish of Hastings, Dorothy Parish of Grand Ledge, Steven and Brenda Davis of S. Daytona, Fla., Dorrine Camp of Edmore, Heidi Suremann of Sanford, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held March 7 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville.
Contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan or American Lung Association.
Constance Parker
Constance J. Parker, 62, of Charlotte, died Saturday, June 27, 2009. Mrs. Parker was born Feb. 20, 1947 in Lansing, the daughter of Marle and Grace (Zimmerman) Clark.
Connie enjoyed shopping, NASCAR racing, the Detroit Lions, playing Bingo, and traveling with her grandkids. She was a member of the Eaton Area Senior Center and enjoyed participating in their activities.
She was preceded in death by her father in 2001.
She is survived by her husband, James; son, Earl Parker of Jackson; daughter, Pam (Russ) Sharkey of Lansing; mother, Grace; step-children, Nancy Bilodeau and Ken Pitchford of Florida; three grandchildren, Spencer, Jeremy and Dustin; sister, Donna (Dennis) Brendahl of Holland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Jones officiating.

Cleo S. Parks
Cleo S. Parks of Eaton Rapids, age 71, passed away in Lansing, August 26, 2009. He was born in Ithaca, MI, February 21, 1938, the son of Lynn and Alice (Helman) Parks. He retired from General Motors in 1998 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local 652 and a former Union Steward (Buy American). Cleo enjoyed the last few years working with his friends at Glenn Buege Chevrolet in Eaton Rapids. BFF’S, Bear, Raina, Bonfire, Connor and Dutch. He was the beloved grandpa to Margret Lynne and was looking forward to that same relationship with his new grandson, Avery. Cleo was the proud father of Mindy and Kip and the patient husband to wife Judy. He enjoyed the sounds and sights of car racing and golfing on Monday mornings, with his friends. Many pleasurable hours were spent mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his wife, Judy (Meier) Parks of Eaton Rapids; daughter, Mindy Parks of Okemos; son, “Kip” Colin (Jennifer) Parks of Lansing; grandchildren Margret and her mother, Teri Parks of Lansing; 2 brothers, Lynn Jr. Parks of Traverse City, Dale Parks of Ithaca; sister, Katherine (Jerry) LaLonde of St. Louis; sisters-in-law, Doris Parks of Traverse City and Donna Parks of Clearwater FL. Cleo was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Clarence and Wayne Parks, and sister-in-law, Doris.

Harvey Parks
Harvey Leroy Parks, 65, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Jan. 31, 2009 in Sebring, Fla. He was born March 11, 1943, the son of Fay and Lunetta Parks.
He served in the U.S. Marine Reserves from 1959-1961 and retired from Motor Wheel as a supervisor. He loved to ride his Harley, hunt and fish.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paulette; son, Dare (Sheila); brother, Ronnie (Ladonna); sister, Lorette (Bob); grandchildren, Ty, Trista, Michael and Melissa; brother-in-law, Butch (Sandi); nephews, Troy (Tammy), Trent (Sally), Rick (Lanita); niece, Vicki (Bert); special friend, Don and many others.
His ashes will be scattered at his favorite fishing lakes in Sebring, Fla., and Michigan.
Claire Parr
Claire J. Parr, 84, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at the Pennock Hospital in Hastings. Mrs. Parr was born June 4, 1925 in Flint, Mich., the daughter of Roy and Lauraetta (Fry) Griffis and had been a Charlotte resident since 1959. She was the former owner/operator, with her husband, of the Maple Knoll Trailer Park of Charlotte and was a member of the Lawrence Ave. United Methodist Church and its Deborah Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald R. Parr in 1987 and by brothers, Lowell, George, Henry and Richard Griffis.
Surviving are her children, Susan L. (William L.) Cornwell of Charlotte, Carol J (Malcolm E.) Hume of Eaton Rapids and Steven R. (Gayl) Parr of Plymouth; grandchildren, William C. Cornwell, Katherine S. (Kurt) Place, Matthew S. Hume, Steven R. Hume, Kathleen C. Parr and Ryan C. Parr and one great grandson, Cameron A. Place.
Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Frank Pawli
Frank G. Pawli, 86, of Charlotte, died Friday, October 9, 2009. Frank was born February 18, 1923 in Eveleth, Minn., the son of Michael and Elizabeth (Taylor) Pawli. Frank served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge, he graduated from University of Detroit. He was a self-employed accountant who owned Frank G. Pawli and Company and served his community well. Frank was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 50 years and was a member of the VFW Post 2406 and the American Legion Post 42.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth “Mike”’ daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Richard) Remenak of Charlotte, Mary Christine (Ron) Hoover of Sparta, Mary Frances (Dave) Fuller of Charlotte, Mary Anne Pawli of Montague and Mary Jane Forte of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother, Paul Pawli of Harrisville, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parent and siblings, Vincent Pawli and Josephine Miller.
Funeral mass was celebrated Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Francis Mossholder officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Charlotte Community Library, SIREN-Eaton Shelter, or the Rotary Polio Eradication Program.

Birdie Mae Payne
Birdie Mae Payne of Eaton Rapids, age 87, passed away in Charlotte, Saturday, October 17, 2009. She was born in Alpharetta, KY, November 29, 1921, the ninth of eleven children of James and Phoebe (Shepherd) Bradley. Birdie was a housekeeper for Storybook House, as well as owning her own adult foster care home before her retirement. She married Delbert W. Payne in 1941. They had a storybook relationship that began with Delbert spotting Birdie walking down the road from the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp) Camp in Newberry, Michigan. Her loves included gardening, quilting, preserving a large variety of fruits and vegetables, singing, visiting friends, traveling to Florida in the winter, babies and cleaning anything. She and Delbert will be remembered for Euchre and Yahoo; strength and courage in the face of difficulties; wit and wisdom; laughter and tears. Birdie will be especially remembered for her hard work, her singing, her love of picking berries, making peanut butter candy and her eyes as she held a baby. She was a member of the Charlotte SDA Church, and enjoyed attending services and activities often before her illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorene Henderson of Eaton Rapids, Janice Payne of Florida, Iris (Timothy) Morgan of Eaton Rapids, Bonnie Mae (Randy) Hicks of Moorsville, IN and Glenda (James) Fry of Hillsdale; sons, Darwin Payne of Florida, Marvin (Kate) Payne of Grand Rapids; 19 grandchildren, Lori, Lynette, Sandy, Sheila, Tony, Michael, Nancy, Bradley, Jack, Tim, Dina, Jason, Kelly, Alisha, Eva, Carrie, Lori, Sam and Josh; 25 great grandchildren; sister Lily Routheaux of Hartford, MI. Birdie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Delbert W. Payne in January 2009; grandson Gary Becker; great grandson, Zane Gardner; son-in-law, Larry Henderson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday October 21, 2009 at the Shelly Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Charles Hanlon officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, MI.
