Elaine Ellen Jarvis
59, of Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Irene (Denny) Jarvis. She is survived by son Carey (Alexis) Jarvis of Lansing, Michigan. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, June 06, 2002. Mrs. Kinzie was born February 20, 1910, in St. Louis, Michigan Agriculture College in 1932 and a Masters Degree from the Buffalo State Teachers College in 1952. Marian was a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and the Naomi Circle at the church. She was also a member of the Eaton County Retired Teachers Association and MSU Alumni Association. She is survived by her loving family, son Charles H. (Eleanor) Raths of Nashville, Illinois, Herbert L. (Lisa) Raths of Charlotte, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert John Raths in 1953. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2002 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan, newborn infant daughter of Jason and Jill (Fedewa) Cates, died Saturday, June 15, 2002. Alani was born June 10, 2002 in Charlotte, Vermontville, the daughter of Herman and Sylvia (Briggs) Gusey. She retired from the State of Vermontville Bible Church with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Hastings Township Cemetery in Barry County. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.

61, of Charlotte, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph J. and Wilma K. (Reynolds) Abernathy. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gary Lee, daughter Kelly R. Lee of Charlotte, sons Alan D. (Annette) Lee of Nashville, Ralph D. (Kate) Lee of Kalamazoo, 7 grandchildren, Jamie, Aaron, Andrea, Dillon, Aaron, Brianna and Brandy, sisters Debbie (Walt) Ribby of Eaton Rapids, Lisa Wood of Lansing, Lori Keyes (Kevin Frisbie) of Holt, brothers Sam (Floyce) Abernathy of Charlotte, Rich (Mary) Abernathy of Charlotte, Phil (Mary) Abernathy of Michigan, the son of Marshall and Eileen (Foster) Hartig. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was employed as an Enforcement Officer for Eaton County Friend of The Court and a deputy with the Eaton County Sheriff Department. He is survived by his wife Toni (Munson), sons Dan (Pam) Hartig of Eaton Rapids, Joe Hartig III of Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, Justin Hartig of Charlotte, daughters Lori Schroeder of Holt, Julie Hartig of Charlotte, Amy (Mike) Mollitor of DeWitt, eight grandchildren, Hailey, Nicholas, Alexis, Mara, Skyler, Dylan, Tyler, Jayden, mother Eileen Hartig, brothers Jeff (Sharon) Hartig of Mason, Jon (Dawn) Hartig of Lansing, David Hartig, Mike (Kim) Hartig both of Holt, sisters Carol Barish of DeWitt, Cheryl (Jim) Ordway of Holt, Chris (Tom) Graham of Dimondale. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe, Jr. and father, Marshall. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Joseph D. Huston officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of choice in the name of Joe M. Hartig.
Shirly Ann Willison
65, of Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Jesse and Myrtle (Richards) King. Mrs. Willison attended Nashville Baptist Church. Shirley is survived by her husband of 42 years John "Jack" Willison, son Mike (Judy) Willison of Charlotte, daughters Lori (Tim) Gerard of Lowell, Karen Willison of Charlotte, 4 grandchildren Chris, Kevin, Josh, and Kari, brothers Bob King of Grand Rapids, and Kenny (Pat) King of Alto. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Nashville Baptist Church with Pastor Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment will be in Perry Cemetery in Brookfield Township. Visitation will be 7 - 9 pm Tuesday, and 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm Wednesday at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Roy and Pearl (Roy) Johnson. She had been employed for many years at Eaton Manor as a nurse's aide. She loved to sew, tend her flowers and to help anyone who needed her help. She is survived by sons Randy Pelto of Vermontville, Ron Winters of Scandia, daughter Sue (William) Vance of Bellevue, grandchildren Tabitha and Billi Jean Vance, and Ramsey Winters, mother Pearl Tweedale of Chatham, brother Ron Johnson of Lansing, sisters Loretta Peterson of Marquette, Sandy Laukkanen of Chatham, Norma Larson of Negaunee, several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002 at the Free Methodist Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Paul Davis officiating.
Harry A. Salter
92, of Three Rivers, formerly of Charlotte, died June 26, 2002, in Three Rivers. Mr. Salter was born March 16, 1910, in Kalamazoo, California, and James H. of Battle Creek, two grandchildren, and a sister, Dorothy Gilmore. A graveside committal service will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek, with R. Raymond Rossell officiating.
Dennis Evans
56, of Vermontville, Michigan, the son of Theodore R. and Beatrice S. (Kill) Evans. He had been employed by Custom Classic Creation in Potterville and was a member of the Potterville Church of the Nazarene, belonged to the Hastings Car Club and served with the United States Air Force in Viet Nam. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judith (Powell) Evans, daughter Teresa (James) Keel of Charlotte, son Scott (Melissa) Evans of Delton, grandchildren Wendy, Aleisha, Ryan and Amanda. He was preceded in death by his father in 1984, mother in 1968 and a granddaughter in 1991. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Mark Slocum officiating. Interment will be in East Sebewa Cemetery in Sunfield, Michigan, died June 27, 2002. Mrs. Burt was born February 4, 1924 in Luray, Virginia, the daughter of George and Bertie (Nicholson) Corbin. Mrs. Burt was a member of the Church of God of Charlotte. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Glen Burt, sons Allen of Charlotte, Gary (Julie) of Mulliken, Jim of Charlotte, Fred (Cyndy) of Charlotte, Doug of Battle Creek, daughters Judy (Don) Thornhill or Franklin, GA, Lois Kettner of Charlotte, Sandy (Dean) Parish of Charlotte, Marlene (Mike) Davids of Acworth, GA. and Margaret (Ed) Johnson of Grand Ledge, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Larry and Jerry and grandson, Garry Jr. Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, July 1, 2002, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating. Visitation will be 7-9 Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Alma (Stults) Bingham
83, of Nashville, Michigan, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at Pennock Hospital in Hastings. She was born July 27, 1918 in Convis Township, Calhoun County, to Adelbert and Catherine (Shope) Stults. She lived in Battle Creek for 35 years before moving to Nashville, Barry County, in 1971. Alma attended four one-room schools: Porter, Striped, Kibler and Section. She graduated from Olivet High School in 1935 and married Elmer Bingham in 1937. He preceded her in death May 1992. Alma retired from Kellogg Company in 1976 with over 30 years of service. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary in Nashville. She loved her family and enjoyed her home, friends, fishing, camping and Euchre cards. Surviving are two sons, Charles L. (Gloria) Bingham of Battle Creek, James R. Bingham (Jocelyn Frankow) of the Netherlands, two grandchildren, Charles R. Bingham of Battle Creek and Christopher S. Bingham of Grand Rapids. In addition to her husband, Alma was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Edna Masters and Thelma Allen; brothers, Lewis "Mike" Stults, Leslie (Tim) Stults and baby Seth. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with R. Raymond Rossell officiating.
