Barbara Chupp
Barbara Joy Chupp, 81, of Bellevue, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2009. She was born Nov. 17, 1927 in Battle Creek, Mich., the daughter of Carl McKinley and Lucille (Kaufman) Wenger. Barbara had been a resident of Bellevue since 1960, was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a former member of the Alter Society at the church. She had worked at Godde’s Bakery from 1943 to 1945, Benjamin Drugs from 1946 to 1947 and Oliver’s Manufacturing from 1949 to 1954. She was a member of the D.A.R. and enjoyed traveling, living history reenactment, playing bingo; sewing, crocheting, jig saw puzzles, flower gardening and tea parties with her great granddaughters. On April 13, 1947 she was married to Howard R. Chupp in Battle Creek and he preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1998. Barbara was also preceded in death by a son, Howard Patrick Chupp in 2003. Surviving are five daughters, Rev. Terry Sue (Larry) Wiliford of Silver Lake, NY, Lucy (Larry) Potter of Bellevue, Patti (Bill) Blanchard of Clarkston, Gail (Tom) Robinson of Bellevue and Laura (Pete) Harris of Charlotte; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and sister, Betty K. Beutler of Tampa, Fla. The funeral mass was celebrated Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at St. Ann Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Mossholder officiating. Interment followed at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lifespan-Good Samaritan Hospice Services or St. Ann Catholic Church.
Lucille R. Church
Lucille R. Church, 73, of Rossford Ohio, formerly of Eaton Rapids passed away June 4, 2009 in Ohio. She was born Aug. 18, 1935 in Wauseon, Ohio to John and Flossie (Fitzsimmons) Turpening.
Lucille worked at Miller’s Ice Cream Shop for 20 years. She married Kingsley Church Jr. Sept. 11, 1953. Lucille enjoyed camping, playing the slot machines and being with her friends and beloved family.
She is survived by daughters, Pam (Bill) Amsdill of Brooklyn, Mich., Toni (Jim) Nelson of Eaton Rapids, Charyl (Ric) Cervantes of Cottage Grove, Tenn.; sons, Scott (Laura) Church of Rossford, Ohio, King (Pat) Church III of Eaton Rapids; 31 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and one sister, Jeanette Murray of Ohio.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Kingsley Jr., five brothers, two sisters and her parents.
Funeral services were Monday June 8, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Scott Boles officiating.

Donald Clark
Donald R. Clark of Alma, formerly of Mason, passed away May 23, 2009 at the Masonic Pathways in Alma. Don was born Oct. 23, 1916, the son of Raymond Ward and Nada (Free) Clark.
He was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids and a member of the Springport Masonic Lodge No. 284 F&AM.
Don was employed with Paul Automotive in Lansing and retired form instructing at the Ingham Intermediate School District. He was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society in McAllen, Texas and a long time volunteer at Masonic Pathways in Alma.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Lera; son, Allan Clark; daughter, Janyce Griffes; and sister, Florence VanDeMoortel.
He is survived by two sons, Harvey (Mary Armstrong) Clark of Charlotte and Ward (Brenda) Clark of Mason; daughter-in-law, Margie (Loren) Noddins of Mason; son-in-law, Royal (Jan) Griffes of Ludington; 10 grandchildren, Kelli Bush, Kerri (Brian) Sartin, Karla Spoor, Debbie Griffes, Valerie (Rod) Fisher, Laurie (Chuck) Reed, James (Rosalie) Clark, Larry (Larissa Gleason) Clark, Tricia (Joe) Tort, Nathan (Shannon) Clark; 2 step-grandchildren, Jean (Gary) Campbell, Jeffrey (Amanda) Gross; 18 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and sister, Bonnie (Lynn) Noxon of Mason.

Gordon Clark
Gordon C. Clark passed away Dec. 2, 2009 at the age of 80 years in Fort Meade, Fla. He was born in Mason on Oct. 18, 1929. He grew up in Mason and attended Mason High School. Gordon was married to Marylyn (Strickling) on Sept. 12, 1948.
Gordon enjoyed sports and the outdoors, playing baseball and bowling, later doing much fishing and golfing. Gordon went to work for Oldsmobile in 1948. His last position was as a supervisor in the GM Parts Warehouse. He retired in 1987 after 39 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beulah Clark; brother, William Jr., and sister, Frances Halbert; son, Gordon Jr., and granddaughter, Jennifer Clark.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marylyn; sons, Roger (Darlene) of Holt and Larry (Debi) of Manisteee; sister, Barbara (Lou) Rinzema of Mason; eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be graveside services at Markham Cemetery on Grovenburg Road in Holt Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. with a memorial service following at the Grovenburg Church at 11 a.m.
Laurie Ann Clark
Laurie Ann Clark, born Jan. 31, 1960, died June 6, 2009 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She is survived by her life partner of 16 years, Debra Clark; sons, Seth and Alex; mother, Bonnie Clark of Williamston; father, Douglas Clark (Laurie) of Eaton Rapids; sisters, Kristin Peters (Jay), Andrea Bassette (Bennett); and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred “Millie” L. Clark
Mildred “Millie” L. Clark, age 89 of Jackson, formerly of Eaton Rapids died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at a Jackson Hospital. Born June 16, 1919 in Hillsdale County, the daughter of Bena and Ferne (Woodring) Daniels. Millie had worked for 6 years for the Lansing State Journal and later worked as a substitute secretary for the Eaton Rapids Schools. She was a dual member of the Eaton Rapids Congregational Church and the Sandstone Congregational Church, was a life member of the Eaton Rapids Hospital Auxiliary, a 40 year member of the Bonnie View Lady’s Golf League, and a member and past board member of the Eaton Rapids Senior Center. She enjoyed making Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls to give to family and friends, producing and giving away over 80.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh in 1996; son, Victor in 1965; and good friend, Pete Cook.
Surviving are her daughter, Christine (Roger) Jackson of Jackson; 4 grandchildren, Beau (Saodat) Taylor of Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Sarah (Randy) Yentsch, of Lakewood, IL, Richard Jackson of Grand Rapids, and Shelley (Michael) Anchetta of Carey, IL; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Daniels of Gladwin and sister, Arlene Twitchell of Gladwin; many nieces and nephews; also special to grandma Millie was Sandi (Tom) Wittman and family of Jackson; and very close and dear friends, Garnett and Stan Phinney of Eaton Rapids.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 4th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Brad Smith and Rev. John Metcalf Co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. For those desiring memorial gifts may be made to either the Eaton Rapids Congregational Church or the Sandstone Congregational Church in memory of Millie Clark.
Thomas Clark
Thomas James “Tom” Clark, 83, of Grand Ledge passed away Sept. 23, 2009. He was born in Lansing Oct. 3, 1925 to the late Harry B. and Martha (Neumann) Clark.
He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1943 where he was part of the undefeated football team in 1941. He is also a graduate of Michigan State University. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He retired from the State of Michigan Dept. of Transportation as a systems analyst. He was past president of the Grand Ledge Rotary Club and was an avid card player.
He is preceded in death by brother, Donald Clark and sister, Marguerite Clay.
He is survived by his loving family; wife of 62 years, Joanne; son, Mark (Jaye) Clark of Holt; daughter, Tina (Rich) Martzke, Melissa (Tom) Carrow all of Grand Ledge, Tricia Johnson of Charlotte, and Amy (Nate) Foltz of Mulliken; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Marcia (Ken) Krueger of South Carolina, Marlene Hilton of Florida; sister-in-law, Ursula Clark of Torch Lake; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Sept. 28 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Grand Ledge. Military graveside services and committal followed at Delta Center Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.

Gary Kenneth Clone
Gary Kenneth Clone, 69, of Williamsburg, formerly of Eaton Rapids and East Lansing, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009 at home with his family by his side. He was born on Nov. 14, 1939 in Jackson, the son of Kenneth and Norine (Adams) Clone.
He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School and MSU with a degree in fisheries and wildlife. Later, he received his certificate in teaching and a master’s degree in environmental education from MSU. While in college, Gary and Fred Trost helped establish Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing. Gary was a member of the Fisheries and Wildlife Club.
Gary was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Augsburg, Germany in the Military Police and then the Signal Corp. He worked laying trails and fighting fires with the Oregon Forestry Service in his younger years.
Gary was a teacher at Kinawa Middle School in Okemos, Forest Area and Kalkaska School Districts.
He loved to drive and travel so he drove for CTX Transportation, Tri-State Expedited Freight, and Star Delivery Solutions. He and his wife traveled to every state except Hawaii. In the summers he worked in the cherry orchards.
He was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church for over 30 years where he occasionally taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved canoeing and being with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife, Marcia, of 44 years; sons, Eric (Melissa Brown), Kristofer (Annie Sisk), and Shawn (Brittany); grandson, Liam and Liam’s mother, Mary Moore; foster children, Tonda, Bud and Billie Jo; foster granddaughter, Jessica; and several exchange students. Nine siblings survive: Wayne (Dianne), Mike (Cindy), Terry (Jill), Ron (Lisa Burns), Pat (Peg), Phil (Laurie), Al (Sue), Bob (Marianne) and Shari (John) Polansky, as well as many other family members and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.

Steven Lee Clouse
Steven Lee Clouse, age 54, died July, 14th, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney Nebraska from a severe illness. Steve Clouse was born April 23, 1955, in Eaton Rapids Michigan, to Richard and Ileta Clouse. Steve was always entertaining family and friends by playing his guitar. He loved fishing and hunting. He held an annual hunting camp at his home in Callaway, NE. Steve housed and fed hunters from around the country, so that they could enjoy the good life and maybe even bag a buck.
Steve is survived by his girlfriend Connie Saighman of Callaway, NE and his children Richard Duane Clouse of Jackson, MI; daughter, Harmony Jean (Clouse) Demski, and son-in-law, Joshua Demski of Midland MI; son, Dustin Ray Clouse of Saginaw, MI; daughter, Phoebe Rose Hester of Charlotte, MI and Connie Saighman’s children, Edwin and Christeenia Saighman of Broken Bow, NE and Sherri Saighman of Hastings, NE. Also surviving is his sister Sheila Jean Clouse of Lansing, MI, his beloved 11 grandchildren, and his lifelong friend Terri Sparks of Lincoln, NE. Preceded in his death are his mom and dad Richard and Ileta Clouse, brother, Duane Clouse, son, Scottie Allen Clouse, and daughter, Ileta Mae (Clouse) Zank.
