Raymond Black
Raymond W. Black, 83, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009. Mr. Black was born Feb. 15, 1927 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Dick and Hazel (Woolsey) Black.
He was employed by AE Hoover until his retirement in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Zola; son, Raymond (Joy) Black; daughter, Grace (David) Smith. No services are planned at this time. Robert “Bob” W. Blatt
Robert “Bob” W. Blatt, age 71, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Eaton Rapids, MI, passed away April 9, 2009 at his home. Bob was born January 25, 1938 in Eaton Rapids, MI to Francis Harold and Helen Jane (Collins) Blatt. He was a graduated of Eaton Rapids High School Class of 1956, veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1956 to 1960, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2550 in Dunedin, FL and retired from BF Goodrich Aerospace after many years of service.
Bob is survived by his wife, Wilma Blatt of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Kathleen J. Redmond of CO; son Mark R. (Kerri) Blatt of KS; two step-sons, Steven (Sandra) and David (Leslie) Turner, both of FL; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; twin brother, Paul (Bonnie) Blatt of Dunedin, FL and brother, John (Carolyn) Blatt of Muskegon, MI. He was preceded in death by: parent, Francis and Helen Blatt; two sisters, Clara L. Finney and Virginia R. Riley.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home 518 S. Main St., Eaton Rapids, MI. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Robert Bobier
Robert L. Bobier went to seek new fishing holes in the great River of Life on Oct. 2, 2009. Robert was born Feb. 1, 1920 to Leo and Eva Bobier in Charlotte. He worked for Gambles Hardware for 45 years, and served in World War II, with the 813 Army Corps of Engineers. His favorite place to be was outside; enjoying gardening, hunting and fishing. Continuing to love and cherish him are his wife of 64 years, Theo Jane; children, Pam Bonter (Mark), Cris Bobier (Vinh Tran), and Eric Bobier (Tracy); six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Pray Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Ferris officiating. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, plant your own and enjoy them. Leonard Bochenek
Leonard Raymond Bochenek, 70, of Charlotte, formerly of Detroit, died Sunday, May 3, 2009. Mr. Bochenek was born Dec. 19, 1938 in Detroit, the son of Joseph and Catherine Bochenek.
He loved to golf and enjoyed playing and coaching hockey and many other sports related activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard and James Bochenek.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Leonard (Karen) Bochenek of Grosse Isle, Cathy (Paul) Kozlowski of Dearborn; step-daughters, Donna Gendjar of Calif., Linda (Aaron) Cohen of Livonia, Laura (Mark) Woodbury of Charlotte, Paula (Keith) Cupp of Eaton Rapids; three grandchildren, Sophie and Josie Bochenek, Michael Kozlowski; 12 step-grandchildren; brother, Fred (Karen) Bochenek of White Lake, and sister, Irene Davis of NY.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte, with Reverend Father Denis Spitzley officiating. Interment was in Maple Mill Cemetery, Charlotte.

John Boda
John J. Boda, 66, of Vermontville, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Mr. Boda was born March 18, 1943 in Petoskey, Mich., the son of Floyd and Opal (Stanley) Boda.
Mr. Boda retired from Motor Wheel Corporation and also worked for Kane Heating and Rose Exterminators. He was an usher for St. Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11875 at St. Mary Charlotte, and a Fourth Degree Sir Knight of Bishop Albers Assembly Counsel 788 in Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jim Bob Boda.
He is survived by his daughter, Josephine Boda; sons, John “JohnJohn”, Jeff, Joey and Floyd; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; father, Floyd Boda; sister, Joan (Richard) Pricco; brother, Jerry (Sue) Boda.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating.

Veda Boggs
Veda Fay Boggs, 70, of Eaton Rapids joined her soul mate, the love of her life, Burr, on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009. Fay was born Feb. 3, 1938 in Floyd County, Ky., the daughter of Johnathan and Margaret Johnson.
She retired from Eaton Rapids Community Hospital as head cook with 25 years of service. Fay was known for being a fantastic cook.
She was preceded in death also by her son, Dale; three brothers, Ronald, Leon and Curt Johnson; and son-in-law, Mike Reading.
Fay is survived by three daughters, Anita (Nelson) Wheaton of Gaylord, Diane (Dale) Newsome, and Merry Reading, both of Marion, Ohio; one son, Pat (Lori) Boggs of Westland; daughter-in-law, Dorenda Boggs of Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; three brothers, James (Elsie) Johnson, Johnnie (Diane) Johnson, all of Eaton Rapids, and Joel (Dorothy) Johnson of Holt; one sister, Nell (Glenn) Miller of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews, and was a second mom to many others.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Kenneth L. Bohn
Kenneth L. Bohn of Eaton Rapids, age 51, passed away in Eaton Rapids on September 10, 2009. He was born in Detroit, MI, June 15, 1958, the son of John “Jack” and Margaret (Bronson) Bohn. Kenneth attended St. Mary High School in Redford, MI, and later graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1976. He married Margaret (Bronson) June 14, 1986 in Farmington Hills, MI. Kenneth attended the New York Culinary Institute of the Arts with his mother. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time traveling the world with friends, hunting, and making jokes. The friends that he spent time with will miss his laughter. He bought and restored Corvettes. Kenneth was a loan officer and the owner of Evergreen Apartments in Eaton Rapids. Kenneth was extremely proud of his girls and loved to spoil them.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy”; daughters, Patricia Christine and Jennifer Marie Bohn of Eaton Rapids; mother, Margaret (Kelly) Greenwood of Walled Lake; sister, Catherine (John) Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his father John “Jack” Bohn.

Dillon Bruce Boone
Dillon Bruce Boone, born May 2, 2009, the infant son of Derrick and Dena (Potter) Boone, passed away suddenly after a short illness, in Ann Arbor, May 30, 2009.
He is survived by his parents; brother, Brody Boone; grandparents, Reg and Virginia Potter of Charlotte, Douglas Boone of Phoenix AZ, and Debra Boone of Phoenix, AZ.

Kenneth Boroff
Kenneth Charles Boroff, 92, of South Haven, Mich., formerly of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009. Mr. Boroff was born June 6, 1917, in Spencerville, Ohio, the son of Charles and Tina (Becker) Boroff. Mr. Boroff retired from Oldsmobile after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Boroff in 1999 and his daughter, Scharlene Bird in 2006. He is survived by his son, Robert Boroff of Frisco, Colo.; three grandchildren, Randy (Gail) Bird, Kristi (Forrest) Boothe, and John (Sandra) Boroff and one great grandson, Lance Hostetler.

Donald Bottomley
Donald O. Bottomley, 84, of Alma, Mich., died Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Mr. Bottomley was born Jan. 10, 1925 in Charlotte, the son of Theo and Mildred (Sherman) Bottomley.
Mr. Bottomley was a watchmaker and built instruments for airplanes for the Lear Corporation.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Petie); son, Kelley (Patricia) Bottomley of Raleigh, NC; son, Gary (Jackie) Bottomley of Cadillac and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor George Ayoub officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Oneida Township, Mich.

Hilda Braatz
Hilda F. (Sprout) Braatz, 94, of Charlotte, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2009. Mrs. Braatz was born Nov. 17, 1914 in Quincy, Mich., the daughter of William Earl and Cora Mae (Dove) Sprout.
She was a 1935 graduate of Quincy High School and had been employed as an inspector for Oldsmobile Corp. in Lansing, retiring in 1976 after 25 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Charlotte Church of the Nazarene. She was an avid fisherman and Skip Bo player, she enjoyed traveling, her garden and her flowers. She was extremely proud of her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Braatz; daughter, Marilyn Braatz; son, Curt Braatz and sister, Esther Ferrell.
Surviving are her six children, Charles (Janet) Braatz of Lansing, Sarah J. Dunn of Eaton Rapids, Judy Ruffner of Bellevue, Victor Braatz of Charlotte, Tom (Pam) Braatz of Eaton Rapids and Jeff (Mary Grace) Braatz of Laingsburg; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Berry of Bronson and Alice Roberts of Columbus, Texas and brother, Bill Sprout of Quincy.
At Mrs. Braatz request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Charlotte Church of the Nazarene, 302 E. Lovett St., Charlotte, with Rev. Glen Neal officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Charlotte Church of the Nazarene.
