Helen Lucille Albin
Helen Lucille Albin, 89, of Charlotte, died Oct. 21, 2009.
Mrs. Albin was born Sept. 13, 1920 in Charlotte, the daughter of Ralph and Clara (Hokanson) Zeis.
Helen graduated from Charlotte High School, went on to Lansing Business College and then worked first as an apprentice and then as a photographer at Michigan Theater Arcade for Versluis Studio in the 1940’s.
She took great pride in organizing and keeping up with classmates, and fellow alumni of CHS; reminding them of upcoming class reunions, and how important it was to keep up with friends.
She led a very active life, drove a school bus for Potterville Public Schools, took part in women’s clubs, theatrical groups, Eastern Star Chapter’s of Charlotte and Potterville, Women’s Club Choir, and the Potterville United Methodist Church.
She and Dale worked together in their business for 50 years at Albin’s Honda.
Helen’s gardening was the envy of all who saw it, sharing her flowers and vegetables.
She was a gracious hostess, and made delicate petifores and cookies for guests.
She loved to make people happy.
She as a caregiver for her husband, Dale; sister, Dorothy; Aunt Ora and her mother, Clara Zeis.
She had a terrific zest for life, took in orphan animals and found new homes for them; traveling to distant lands, and many adventures.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 1992 whom she married in 1940.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Val) Liepins; grandchildren, Valorie (Roger) Hunnicutt, Nicole (Tony) Williams, Mark (Amy) and David (Kasi); great grandchildren; Kaiden, Joshua and Mariah, Brittany, Taylor, Jacob, Jordan, Garrett and Hunter.
Funeral services were held Oct. 24, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Karen Wheat officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital or the Eaton Community Hospice.

Gloria Albu
Gloria Jean Albu, 74, of Marianna, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at her residence.
A native of Lansing, Mrs. Albu was a former resident of Palm Beach County, Fla., where she was an educator prior to moving to Marianna where she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Marianna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby W. Albu.
Survivors include two sons, Kent Albu of Marianna and Bobby Albu and wife Marion of Boynton Beach; one daughter Nikki Gardner and husband John of Marianna; one brother, Bob White; one sister, Rosie Brundage and husband Bruce, all of Charlotte; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Service of Remembrance was held Friday, April 10, 2009 at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Stephen Potter officiating.
Memorization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Arlene Alldaffer
Arlene Alldaffer, 90, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009.
Mrs. Alldaffer was born on April 13, 1919 in Clarence Township, Mich., the daughter of Simeon and Almeda (Sebastian) Stukey.
She left school after the eighth grade and worked dawn until dusk in the onion fields outside of Charlotte for $1 per day.
Arlene loved fishing at Duck Lake and gardening, becoming a Master Garedener at age 80.
She was caretaker of flowers at Veteran’s Memorial Park and the American Legion Post #42, where she was also a member of 63 years and earned a life membership.
She served the post as a past president of Ladies Auxiliary, selling poppies for over 50 years and helping in the Bingo Kitchen.
Arlene was also a member of EAstern STar and in her earlier years was active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
She enjoyed the times when family would gather around.
Her very favorite was getting her family together twice a year, at Easter and Thanksgiving for a large dinner including children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her sister and brother and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne in 1989; son, Darwin in 2006 and brother, Bud in 1946.
She is survived by daughters, Sharleen (Gary) Moyer of Lansing, Doreen (Phil) Vahs of Bellevue, Cheryl (Dennis) Perry of Gainesville, Fla.; son, Darrel (Deanna) Alldaffer of EAton Rapids; daughter-in-law, Flo Alldaffer of Vermontville; 23 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sisters, Magdalena (Elwood) Martin of Bedford, Ind., and Helen Dowker of Charlotte and brother, Robert (Marie) Stukey of Charlotte.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 27, at Pray Funeral Home.
Interment was at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Almerian Allen
Almerian “Jim” Allen, Jr., 61, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009.
Jim was born Oct. 2, 1947 in Charlotte, the son of the late Almerian J. and Mina E. (Elston).
He previously worked with Demmer Corp. for 15 years.
Jim loved to golf, garden and fish, yet his greatest love was his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy; children, Lori (Gary) Capps, Sherri (Charlie) Gallagher, Wendy (Romero) Maldonado and Wayne (Kimberly) Fairchild; nine grandchildren, Hailey, Breana, Justin, Christie, Brian, Miles, Devin, Jeremy and Hans; sisters, Sandy (Mike) Robinson, Marge Hill, Mary Abernathy, Barb (Mike) Lundy and Debbie (Randall) Tooker.
A celebration of Jim’s life was held Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt Chapel, with Rev. Stephen Ezop officiating.
Interment followed at Maple Ridge Cemetery.

Charles Alling
Charles G. Alling, 94, of Grand Rapids, died, Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
Mr. Alling was born May 23, 1915 in Ray, ND, the son of Ray and Florence (Goldwood) Alling.
He retired as a supervisor from General Motors.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tama Jordan; sister, Maryan Benhart; brothers, Ray, John and Earl Alling.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Joyce) Alling of Charlotte; son-in-law, Kent Jordan of Middleville; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating.
