Jason Dimmick
Jason Fredric Dimmick, born Aug. 8, 1980, beloved father, son, brother, and grandson passed away Feb. 12, 2008.
Jason was a 1998 graduate of Charlotte High School and a 2007 graduate of Central Michigan University in Sports Management. A gifted athlete, he played baseball, basketball, and football in high school, and later developed a love of snowboarding and deep water diving. He recently completed a senior internship as Assistant to the Athletic Director of Vicksburg Community Schools and Coach of the Girls Varsity Basketball Team in Vicksburg, Michigan. Also, he spent his spring semester of 2007 studying International Sports Management in Sidney, Australia.
Jason will be remembered by all for his gentle, giving spirit. He was actively involved in the 2006 Winter Special Olympics, serving as a snowboarding coach. He also volunteered as a student mentor at CMU and created a physical education program for Head Start. Above all, family and friends were central to him, and he was most proud of his daughter, Nevaeh.
Jason is survived by his daughter, Nevaeh LaRoche-Dimmick and her mother, Alicia LaRoche of Bay City, MI; his parents, Fred and Dee Dimmick of Pikesville, NC (formerly of Charlotte); brothers, James (Anne) Dimmick of Powell, OH, and Jeremy (Stephanie) Dimmick of St. Johns; grandparents, Harold and Maxine Meyers of Charlotte, and Marie Dimmick and the late James A. Dimmick of Kalamazoo, MI; nieces and nephews, A.J., Cassidy, Noah, and Ryan Dimmick; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on March 9, 2008 at the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made to a Michigan Education Savings Program 529 college savings account for his daughter, Nevaeh.
Douglas Dipple
Douglas Lee Dipple, 26, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 as the result of a car/pedestrian accident. Doug was born Dec. 24, 1981 in Lansing, the son of Dennis and Sally (Kapenga) Dipple and had lived most of his life in Charlotte.
He was a 2000 Graduate of Charlotte High School and was employed at Spartan Motors in Charlotte as a Data Analyst. He had worked previously at Ford Motor Company.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Dipple in 2000; grandfathers, Fritz Dipple in 2001 and Alvin Kapenga in 1972 and grandmother, Gertrude Kapenga in 1996.
Surviving are his mother, Sally Kapenga of Charlotte; his brother, Daniel (Maranda) Dipple of Olivet; his sister, Shawnda (Chris) Hice of Charlotte; his fiancé, Jessica Coleman of Charlotte; three nephews, Dylan and Dayton Dipple and Parker Hice; one niece, Kennedy Hice; grandmother, Mable Dipple of Holt and great-grandmother, Sarah Moore of Holt.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Richard Heusinkveld and Rev. Brett McAtee officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the American Lung Association or to the Disc Golf Course at Lincoln Park, c/o City of Charlotte. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home.
Dale Doty
Dale L. Doty, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008. Mr. Doty was born May 9, 1923 the son of David and Bertha (Reterstoff) Doty.
Mr. Doty served in the U.S. Army as part of the Medical Core in WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #42.
He worked for Gale Briggs for 36 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry; granddaughter, Heavenly and grandson, David and Roger Hardenburg.
He is survived by his wife, Naida; daughter, Linda (Donald) Mulholland of Charlotte, daughter, Brenda (Walter) Griffin of Pleasant Lake, IN; son, Leon (Louann) Doty of Kalamazoo; son, Horace Doty of Charlotte; daughter, Glenda Kenyon of Charlotte; daughter Wilma (James) Plew of Lafayette, IN; daughter-in-law, Karla Doty of Harrison; brother, Ivan Doty of Billings, MT.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Reverend Lynn Wagner officiating.
Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Kalamo Township, MI.

Thomas Roy Drohn
Thomas Roy Drohn, age 76, of Howell, formerly of Waterford and Eaton Rapids, passed away at his home Sunday, April 6, 2008. He was born December 9, 1931 in Millington, MI, the son of Harold Drohn and Marguerite McWhinney.
He was the beloved husband of Glenna M. (Swanson) Drohn whom he married February 2, 1952 in Pontiac, MI; dear father of Lucinda Drohn of Brookneal, VA, Stephen (Marge) Drohn of Howell, Cheryl (Steve) Kapff of Eaton Rapids, Gregory (Yong) Drohn of Dothan, AL and the late Joseph (Jennifer) Drohn; extended family, Mary (Al) Peltier of White Lake, MI. Also 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and siblings, Dwight James Schulze and Phyllis A. Schulze of Arizona, Felix Michael Schulze of Fenton and Wanda L. Schulze of Iowa.
Thomas was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pontiac.

Carol Duff
Carol Sue Duff, of Sunfield, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor at the age of 56. Carol was born July 25, 1951 in Ironwood, MI, the daughter of Matt and Auni (Estola) Wieland.
She married Bruce G. Duff on Aug. 27, 1971.
Preceding her in death were both her parents; and two sons, Jay and Marty Duff in 1988.
Surviving are her husband, Bruce G. Duff; three children, Donnie Duff of Sunfield, Cheree (Ryan) Duff of Lansing, and Scott Duff; two grandchildren, Hayden, and Tori; step mother, Helen (Hal) Madison; step brother and sisters, Kathy Wieland, Vicki (Earl) Benson, and Pat Samson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Woodland, MI with Rev. John Reid officiating.

Harold Earl
Harold C. Earl, 92, of Cadillac, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Jan. 22, 2008 in FL. He was born in Grand Ledge and lived in Cadillac and spent his winters in FL. He was a retired employee of General Motors in Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth. Surviving are one brother, Russell Earl of St. Ignace, MI; one daughter, Carolyn Piersma of Summerfield, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Fredereck and Angie Earl of Cadillac and Port St., Lucie, FL; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, FL, American Cancer Society or First Congregational Church of Charlotte. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2008 at the First Congregational Church in Charlotte. Graveside services will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Cremation arrangements were handled by All Faith's Cremation Society in FL.
Kevin Eaton
Kevin B. Eaton, 51, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008. He was born Aug. 28, 1956 in Lansing, the son of Bert and Pauline (Palmer) Eaton.
Mr. Eaton loved mechanical work and tinkering on his car.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bert in 1990 and sister, Debbie in 2004.
He is survived by his daughter, Chris Lautner of Charlotte; two grandchildren; mother, Pauline; sister, Sheila (Robert) Hall and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Reverend Charles Jenson officiating.

Pauline Eaton
Pauline Eaton, 80, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008. She was born March 11, 1928 in Lansing, the daughter of Ernest and Aletha (Nichols) Palmer.
Mrs. Eaton was a great cook, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed country music.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Eaton; daughter, Debbie Chingman and sisters, Delores McGee and Irene Vlick.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Robert) Hall; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; half brother, Ernie Palmer and special lifelong friend and companion, Dale Caltrider.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
