Karl Gearhart
Karl E. Gearhart, 77, of Charlotte, died Friday April 18, 2008. Mr. Gearhart was born Aug. 18, 1930 in Vermontville, the son of Carl and Fern (Briggs) Gearhart.
Mr. Gearhart retired from General Motors in 1990 after 41 years of service and also drove school bus for Charlotte Public Schools. He entered the US Army in 1951 where he served two years. Mr. Gearhart was a member of the American Legion Post 42 (Past Post Commander and Third District Financial Officer), 40et8, Eagles Aeries Charlotte, National Rifle Association and the North American Fur Traders Association. He was a member of the Vermontville Maple Syrup Association and had a family-owned maple syrup production that started in 1855 and ended in 1996. Mr. Gearhart coached baseball for Charlotte Recreation and dearly loved the Detroit Tigers and the MSU Spartans. Karl was an avid hunter, fisherman and fur trapper.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Debra) Gearhart, Paul Gearhart and Tammi (Ken) Burgess; brother, Glen (Karen) Gearhart; sister, Janice (Doug) Lowe; brother, Larry Gearhart; former wives, Marcella Gearhart and Anne Gearhart-Meyer; grandchildren, Janelle (Scott) Duffey, Marcie (Ryan) Graham, Gary (Karmen) Gearhart II, Michael (Rose) Smith, Derek (Crystal) Smith and Shamarr (Eric Jurkovich) Gearhart; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 21, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with George Blanche officiating. Interment will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI at a later date.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice House or the American Legion.

Carolyn George
Carolyn (Rundle) George, 74, of Hastings, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at the Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. Carolyn was born May 17, 1934 in Marshall, MI, the daughter of Clell and Dariel (MacDiarmid) Rundle and had been a Hastings area resident for 35 years.
She was a 1952 graduate of Olivet High School and had attended Davenport Business College in Battle Creek. She was a retired employee of J. C. Penny Co. with 23 years of service. She enjoyed her Small Group Bible Class with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Todd Clell George in 2000 and her sister, Constance Landfair.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, David H. George; Son, Jace (Sandy) George of Wyoming, MI; two grandchildren, Zachary and Christopher George and great-granddaughter, Emma Grace George.
Graveside services and interment were held on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 at the Olivet Cemetery, Olivet, with John Cohoon officiating.

Bert Gibbons
Bert Gibbons, 65, of Belvedere Township, Six Lakes, MI, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at his home. He was born Dec. 8, 1942 in Lakeview, MI, to Harold and Retha (Henry) Gibbons.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Cynthia (Rodney) Brown of Crystal, MI; one son, James Gibbons of AZ; two sisters, Ruth (Thad) Brisboy of Blanchard, MI, and Janet (Richard) Lintemuth of FL; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Crittenden-Hansen Funeral Home of Remus, MI with Thomas Lintemuth officiating. Burial in Morton Township Cemetery.
Stacey Gidner-McDaniel
Stacey A. Gidner-McDaniel, 34, of Charlotte, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008. Ms. McDaniel was born May 4, 1974 in Lansing, the daughter of Clark and Jill (Maynard) Gidner.
Ms. Gidner-McDaniel was a member of the West Windsor Church and Imagine This Church. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She loved her children, they were the greatest joy of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelsey McDaniel; son, Logan Bulmer; daughter, Bailey McDaniel; daughter, Avery McDaniel; daughter, Saylor McDaniel; father, Clark Gidner; mother, Jill Gidner (Bill Paul); brothers, Travis (Tonya) Gidner of WI and Chad Gidner (Lindsey Letson) of Holt.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Wall officiating. Interment was at Benton Township Cemetery.

James Gilson
James H. Gilson, of Lansing, passed away on Dec. 19, 2008. He was born in Lansing in 1917 in the home his family built.
He served with distinction with the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII. He retired from Oldsmobile after 39 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Adelaide (Johnston) Gilson; brother, Karl N. (Vivian) Gilson; sister, Velma E. Gilson; grandson, Lee Kellogg; and niece, Leora (Gilson) Barna.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys E. (Fellow) Gilson; sons, Gary (Kris), John (Jeanette) and Larry (Joyce); 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 22 at Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 520 E. Mt. Hope Ave., with Pastor Joe Huston of Central United Methodist Church officiating.
Alvin Glassbrook, Jr.
Alvin “Al” Robert Glassbrook, Jr., 63, of Eaton Rapids passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 in Eaton Rapids. Alvin was born May 25, 1944 in Lansing, the son of Alvin Robert, Sr. and Ruth Glassbrook.
He retired from G.M. Skilled Trades in 2006 after 40 years of service. ‘Al’ was a former member of the Eaton Rapids Masonic Lodge.
Surviving him are his wife of 20 years, Mary; two daughters, Barbara Fogle of Eaton Rapids, and Tina (Daniel) Kelley of Sumner; two step-daughters, Penny (Michael) Gibson and Wendy (Joseph) Luca, both of N.Y.; three sons, Fred Glassbrook of Ark., Michael (Julie) Glassbrook of Mich., and James Glassbrook of Vermontville; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Walt (Denise) Glassbrook of Eaton Rapids; three sisters, Chris, Kit and Jenny, all of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 7 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids.
Interment followed at Munger Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.

Rio “Neil” Glasscock
Rio "Neil" Glasscock, 64, of Allegan, MI died Sunday, July 27, 2008. Mr. Glasscock was born Feb. 29, 1944 in Mobley, West Virginia, the son of Raymond and Olive (Glover) Glasscock.
Mr. Glasscock was a retired shift supervisor at Owens Illinois in Charlotte. He was one of the founding members of the North Cedar Street Church of Christ and was very active there. Mr. Glasscock has strong family ties; he always kept in touch and was very proud of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Jean in 2006 and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Deanna (Robert) Shoup of Charlotte; daughter, Cheryl Carter (Al Endsley) of Charlotte; son, Allen Glasscock (Connie Gilbert) of Bellevue; son, Daniel (Debra) Glasscock of Olivet; daughter, Stacey (Chad) Baker of Comstock; daughter, Denise (Ali) Schrader of Florence, KY; son, Lance Jewell (Amanda Lentz) of Kalamazoo; son, Eric and Aaron Lee of Delton; 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Minister Jason Schick officiating. Interment was at Benton Township Cemetery in Potterville.

Treva Glazier
Treva M. Glazier, of Grand Ledge, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. Services will be held at a later time. Her body was donated to Michigan State University.
Susan Elizabeth Goggins
Susan Elisabeth (Cowles) Goggins, 62, of Muskegon, formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer. She was born June 8, 1945, in Wyandotte, daughter of Claude and Lovina Cowles, and married Michael Goggins. She will be greatly missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Survivors include husband, Michael Goggins; son, David (Tonya) Flynn of Pensacola, Fla.; daughter, Pamela (Joe) Ackley of Charlotte; step-daughters, Molly (Mitch) Yoshikawa of Mattawan, and Katie (Cameron) Stevens of Houghton Lake; 11 loving grandchildren; brothers, Claude Jr. "Bud" (Cathy) Cowles of Eaton Rapids, James Cowles of Leland, and Gerald Cowles of Charlotte; and sister, Catherine Parks of Suttons Bay.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lovina.

Lawrence ‘Larry’ B. Gooch
Lawrence ' Larry' B. Gooch, 74, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Sunday, May 04, 2008 in Battle Creek. Larry was born January 29, 1934 in Lansing, the son of Max William and Leila Marie (Wolf) Gooch.
He graduated from the Eaton Rapids High School, Class of 1952 and was a veteran of the US Army. Larry owned and operated Lubahn Sheet Metal Co. in Eaton Rapids from 1968 until retirement in 2003. He was a member of Eaton Rapids Masonic Lodge #63 F&AM, Scottish Rite Grand Rapids Consistory, and a 32 Degree Mason.
Larry was a member of Eaton County Shrine Club and past president of ACCA. He was an avid golfer, played in the Construction League at Eldorado Golf Course in Mason, and was a member of the Abie's Bowling Team. Larry was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Elston (1970); father-in-law, George Hilliard; two brothers-in-law, Dale Schnepp and Neil Jones.
Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth (Hilliard) Gooch; three children, Gregg Lawrence (Lois) Gooch of Highland, Joy Lynn (Steve) Ketchum of Eaton Rapids, and Perry William (Ann) Gooch of Grand Rapids; he was grandfather to six grandchildren, Grant and Carter Gooch of Highland, Griffin, Grace and Grady Gooch of Grand Rapids, and Andrew Moulton of Hattiesburg, Miss.; brother to Mickey Schnepp of Lansing, Kay Love of Mason, and Sheila (Jim) Gilpin of Eaton Rapids; mother-in-law, Dorothy L. Hilliard of Eaton Rapids; sister-in-law, Patricia Jones of Eaton Rapids; brother-in-law, Dick (Sharla) Hilliard of Onondaga; and he was uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 8, at the First United Methodist Church, 600 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
