Barbara Irene Haeck
Barbara Irene Haeck, age 63 of Eaton Rapids, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008. She was born January 28, 1945 to Jim and Irene Harvey (Lightfine) in New York City. Barbara was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids. She was a member of G.W.R.R.A. motorcycle group Chapter L, in Lansing. Barbara was also in the Loopy Hoopers Embroidery Group that always met, for 11 years, at her closest friend Kathy Johnson’s house. Barbara enjoyed scrapbooking with her daughter and granddaughter. Preceding her in death were her father, Jim Harvey and brother, Keith Harvey. Since Barb’s passing, her daughter, Dawn Lemus, died in an automobile accident on July 25, 2008.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry Haeck; sons, Larry (Sherry) Haeck of Elsie, Scott (Shelly) Haeck of Eaton Rapids, Brian (Debbie) Haeck of Owosso; son-in-law Larrie Lemus of Eaton Rapids; mother, Irene (Lightfine) Harvey; brothers, Jim Harvey Jr., Douglas Harvey; sister, Jean Fidyk; and 6 grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Peter Church in Eaton Rapids. Family received friends Friday at Skinner Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Melvin Hale
Melvin D. Hale, 67, of Nashville, MI died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008. Mr. Hale Was born March 16, 1941 in Detroit, MI the son of Robert and Margaret (Enell) Hale.
Mr. Hale served in the Army and worked as a Janitor at Oldsmobile. Mr. Hale was a member of the Eaton County Draft Horse Pony Mule Club. He enjoyed driving his horses in parades and festivals.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Durwood.
He is survived by his wife, Carene; son, Larry Hale of Nashville; daughter, Brenda Taylor of Nashville and daughter, Tammy (Pete) Bryner of Charlotte; four grandchildren and brother, Robert Hale of Cincinnati.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Darwin Kuhl officiating. Interment will be at West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte.

William Hale
William Richard Hale, 88, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Mr. Hale was born Nov. 7, 1919 in Chester Township, the son of Claude and Adalyn (Bacon) Hale.
William was a cattle farmer for over 60 years, belonging to the Michigan Shorthorn Association where he was an active member for over 50 years and a former officer. He received many awards for his Shorthorn Cattle. Mr. Hale was also a supporter and the Superintendent of Beef at the Eaton County 4-H Fair. His great sense of humor kept him going to the very end.
He was preceded in death by his son, Marc in July 2007.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane; daughters, Penny (Perry) Vance and Lora (Bill) Behnke, both of Charlotte.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Pray's with Jack Skervin officiating. Mr. Hale was cremated and interred at Needmore Cemetery.

Nancy Halligan
Nancy Halligan, 84, of Lansing, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008. Mrs. Halligan was born Sept. 1, 1923 in East Lansing, the daughter of Roger and Laura Adams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1995.
She is survived by her son, Chuck (Gloria) Halligan of Dowling; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Jan. 8, 2008 at Munger Cemetery in Eaton Rapids with Rev. Rich Mitterling officiating.

Robert Halsey
Robert Ira Halsey, 88, of Nashville, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday afternoon, March 6, 2008, with his wife, Rhea L Halsey at his side. Robert (known as Bob to family and friends) was born in Eaton County on June 5, 1919.
He was the 14th of 18 children born to Ira and Vera (Rolfe) Halsey. Bob married Rhea L. Rogers on March 24, 1942 shortly before his deployment overseas to serve his country during WWII. He was a medical Staff Sergeant in the 32nd Red Arrow Division in the 126th Infantry and participated in battles in New Guinea, Papuan and the Buna Islands. He was awarded a Bronze Star, along with other honors. After discharge, Bob and Rhea returned to Eaton County where he worked until retirement as a carpenter and stone mason, the artistry of which can be seen on the post offices in Vermontville and Nashville. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting wood and playing cards.
Robert was preceded in death by three brothers, six sisters, and great-granddaughter, Angela Luree.
Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rhea; daughter, Linda (Bill) Ames of Manchester, MI; four granddaughters, Stacey Ames, Vanessa (Phil) Albee, Theresa Ames, Stephanie (Bruce) Carlton; five great-grandchildren, Ben (Stephanie) Carlton, Matthew (Danielle) Carlton, Megan Carlton, Chett Albee and Ryan Albee; one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Carlton. Robert is also survived by sisters, Edith Hutchison, Vera Bracy, Ola (Joel) Burnett, Ila Burnett; brother, Harold Dean (Dorothy) Halsey and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many treasured friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Burnett officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Thomas Halsey
Thomas E. Halsey, 80, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at his residence. Tom was born Aug. 6, 1928 in Centerville, IN the son of Mark and Lola (Baker) Halsey and had been an Eaton County resident since 1965 coming from Three Rivers, MI.
He was a 1946 graduate of Centerville, IN High School and had served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1946-49. He was a retired truck driver, having driven for Howard Sober Inc. and Fleet Carriers out of Pontiac from where he retired with almost 30 years of service.
After retirement, he worked for 18 years at the Charlotte Country Club. He was a member of the Bellevue First Baptist Church and the Bellevue American Legion Post. He enjoyed participating in and watching most sports including golf, horseshoe pitching, softball, basketball.
He was an avid MSU Spartan fan and also enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Beatrice and sister, Barbara Slater.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Joan Halsey; six children, Christine Halsey of Charlotte, Linda (Mike) Allman of Clearwater, FL, Bradley (Cindy) Halsey of Hastings, Debra Burton of Kalamazoo, Mike (Pam) Cary of Charlotte and Cheryl Halsey of Bellevue; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and brother, Leroy (Dorothy) Tout of Three Rivers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Don Francis of Bellevue First Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Perry Cemetery in Brookfield Township.

George Harmon
George M. Harmon, 81, of Olivet, died Saturday July 5, 2008 at his residence after a lengthy illness. George was born Feb. 11, 1927 in Lansing, the son of John D. and Violet V. (Himelburger) Harmon and was a longtime Olivet resident.
He was a retired furnace operator in the Heat Treating Dept. at Oldsmobile Division of General Motors with 35 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and had done Taxidermy work. With his wife, had spent many winters in Ruskin, FL.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Sadowski; sister, Pearl and brothers, Floyd and Jay.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ann (Blaine) Harmon; three children, Frank (Jolinda) Harmon of Charlotte, Kathleen Ingram of Marshall and Terry (Jeana) Harmon of Escanaba; son-in-law, Gene Sadowsky of Olivet; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Hart from Albany, GA; and five brothers, Earl, Fred, Roy, Robert and Ralph Harmon.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many.
At George's request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Pamela Harmon
Pamela Kay Harmon, 65, of Eaton Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 in Charlotte.
Pam was born Sept. 3, 1943 in Lansing, the daughter of Donald Leroy and Thelma (Pifer) Mohre.
She was a graduate of Sexton High School, class of 1961, and was formerly employed as a cook with the Mason Public Schools. Pamela was very devoted to her family and especially to her two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Carrol Mohre; two sisters, Elaine (Russell) Hershiser and Norma Mohre; and two sisters-in-law, Ila and Clara Mohre.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Kelly Harmon of Eaton Rapids; daughter, Kelli (John) Ferguson of Eaton Rapids; two grandchildren, Luke and Shaylee Ferguson; four brothers, Leonard (Judy) Mohre of Eaton Rapids, Ken Mohre of Charlotte, Doug (Sherry) Mohre of Charlotte, Ray Mohre of Lansing; one sister, Maxine (Fred) Rach of Mason; sister-in-law Ireta (Richard) Tate of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Daniel Hofmann officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to Eaton Community Hospice in memory of Pamela Harmon.
Leonard L. “Len” Harrington
Leonard L. "Len" Harrington, 67, of Dimondale, died Tuesday evening, May 6, 2008 at Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Mr. Harrington was born Nov. 7, 1940 in Jackson, son of Bryce and Luella (Dresselhouse) Harrington.
A Michigan State University graduate, he was a former partner of Harrington-Ayles Tree Service, a farmer and owner of Harrington's Lawn & Power Equipment. Mr. Harrington was past president of the National Farmers Organization and was a member of the National Organization for Raw Materials.
Surviving are his wife, Judy: son, Brady (Jennifer) Harrington of Potterville; daughter, Roxanne Harrington of Grosse Ile; three grandchildren, Peyton Harrington, Jordan and Jessica Swanson; mother, Luella Harrington of Jackson; two brothers, Douglas (Ruth) Harrington of Jackson, Sherman (Holly) Harrington of Ypsilanti; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday, May 9 at Grace Bible Church, Lansing with Dr. William Barber officiating. Interment was in Dimondale Cemetery.
