Lyle King
Lyle D. King, 80, of Dimondale, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 2,2 008, at home on his farm. Lyle was born July 30, 1928 in Lansing, the son of Milton and Mina (Hahn) King.
Mr. King owned “Lyle’s Barber Shop” in Dimondale, where he was fortunate to make many life-long friends.
Lyle also enjoyed farming his small 50 acre parcel he proudly called “The Kings Lazy Acres.” He was a member of Colonial Village Baptist Church.
Lyle was a true servant, always willing to help others, never wanting anything in return. If there were a need for something to be built, fixed or repaired, he would be there with his work belt on and a smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles; sister, Betty and his son, Tim.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Cleeves); three children, Julie (Don) McLain, Robert (Jackie) King and Lynnette (Mike) Mayotte.
Lyle was a proud and loving “Papa to grandsons, Tim, Jared (Laci), Jordan, Justin (Sylvia), Michael, Jacob and Jayden and granddaughters, Elyse and Lauren; a great grandpa to Karlon, Olivia and twins, Kennedy and Camrey.
He went hunting with them, attended their recitals, watched their basketball, football and baseball games, helped them move to college, and loved them lots. Also surviving is his brother Milton (Brenda0 King, several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends and family on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chapel In The Pines, Lansing, and one hour prior to the service Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. at Colonial Village Baptist Church, Lansing.

Judy Kita
Judy S. Kita, 69, of Olivet, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 25, 2008. Mrs. Kita was born Feb. 9, 1939 in Blackwell, OK, the daughter of Elijah and Opal (Moon) Peugh.
Mrs. Kita was a bus driver for Olivet Schools and the Olivet Eagles biggest fan, driving the bus for most sports events. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy in life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 1992 and brother, Jim Peugh.
She is survived by her sons, Joseph (Carol) Kita of Olivet and James (Linette) Kita of Olivet; grandchildren, Cari Montague, Kate Kita, Travis Rae, Sara Rae and Hunter Kita; great-grandchildren, Carlie Troutner and Jackson Sandmire; sister, Jean Kotchavar of Houston, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Todd Page officiating. Interment was at West Carmel Cemetery.

Christine Koops
Christine (Laban) Koops, 94, of Charlotte, formerly of Olivet and Grand Rapids, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 in Charlotte. Mrs. Koops was born Jan. 29, 1914 in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of Martin and Jennie (Bekkering) Laban and was a 1932 graduate of Union High School in Grand Rapids.
She moved to Olivet in 1957 and then to Charlotte in 1997. She was a retired supervisor of admissions at Olivet College with 21 and a half years of service. She was a member of the Olivet Congregational Church and its Fannie Quick/Cora Sexton Circle and the A. A. R. P.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Koops, Sr. in 1981; son, James P. Koops, Jr. in 2003; grandson, Edward Cihla, Jr.; three brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean (Ed) Cihla of Marblehead, OH and Marcia LaFraugh of DeWitt; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Jack Brown officiating. Interment was at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MI.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions may go to the Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran Road, Charlotte, MI 48813.
Donald L. Krumm
Donald L. Krumm, age 95, of Eaton Rapids, died at his residence on Saturday, April 19, 2008. He was born March 1, 1913 in Lansing. Don retired from Fisher Body in Supervision after 43 years of service. He graduated high school from St. Mary’s in Lansing was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids, Knights of Columbus and had formerly worked with the Lansing Food Bank and Meals-On-Wheels. Don enjoyed Tiger’s Baseball, was a life-long Notre Dame Football fan, loved golf, was an avid photographer, loved music and the financial market. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Krumm in 1972; 2 brothers, Jess and Ellis Krumm.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Emily; daughter, Kathleen (Edwin LeButt) Krumm of Jackson; son, Robert (Carol) Krumm of Sheridan, Wyoming; 2 grandsons, Clinton and James Krumm; 2 great granddaughters, Lilly and Brooke Krumm; sister, Mary Jane Calvin.
Mass of the Christian burial will be Wednesday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Peter Catholic Church at 515 E. Knight St. Eaton Rapids with Fr. Ben Constantine as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Family will receive friends at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m.
Kacie Jean Kunce
Kacie Jean Kunce, age 48, of Eaton Rapids, passed away September 3, 2008. Kacie was born o October 17, 1959 to Dorothy D. and Arthur G. Mercer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Kunce, daughter Coty L. Byron, her parents, sisters, Kathy Kent and Kelly Higgenbotham.
Kacie is survived by her daughter Korie M. Byron, former husband Mark Byron, brothers Guy (Midge) Mercer, Jim (Carol) Mercer, Patrick (Jody) Mercer, and Michael (Lauri) Mercer; sister Sara McBride; three granddaughters, Shonie L. Norton, Katelynn Kildee and Gabrielle Kildee.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW Home, Eaton Rapids, MI. Those desiring, may make donations in Kacie’s honor to Faithful Visions Church in Muir, MI.
Leonard Laich
Leonard M. Laich, 86, of Dimondale, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2008. He was born Nov. 26, 1921, son of Oscar and Sarah (Pahl) Laich
Leonard graduated from Wayne High School in 1939. He entered the U. S. Army on Aug. 29, 1942, and served until Nov. 11, 1945.
He married Dorothy Florence Matson in June 1947 in Detroit. He married Grace Dempsey on July 23, 1977 in Howell. He married Frances Gross on July 12, 2003 in Rogers City.
He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company, where he was a repairman. He was a Boy Scout leader, and an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Royal Oak. He loved his family, was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, gardening, and rock hounding.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; his children, Mary of Saginaw, Charles (Cathy) of Lake Orion, Frederick (Sue) of Springport, and Richard (Linda) of Dowling; 10 step-children, Dottie Valenches, Sue Hubbard, Paul (Ann) Grissom, Steve (Marie) Dempsey, Bill (Linda) Dempsey, Barb Dempsey, Ellen Dempsey, Drs. Russell (Karen) Dempsey, Harry (Beth) Gross, and Rochelle (Steve) Pilarski; 33 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Dorothy and Grace; brothers, Earl and Robert; and sister, Lillian.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Dimondale Cemetery.

Katherine Lake
Katherine L. (Spotts, Stevens) Lake died Nov. 13, 2008 two days before her 92nd birthday, surrounded by loving family members. Katherine was born Nov. 15, 1916 in Eaton County, the daughter of Roy and Mazie (Bramen) Spotts.
She was raised in Charlotte in a musical family and she and her sister often provided special music for her church.
She attended Lansing Business College and worked as a bookkeeper before her marriage May 9, 1942 to Frederick I. Stevens, an electrical contractor and refrigeration engineer who died Nov. 4, 1991.
Katherine and Frederick lived in Holt before moving to the Stevens family's centennial farm south of Charlotte.
On Dec. 30, 1997 she married Douglas E. Lake and moved to Midland where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Recently she and Douglas lived at Independence Village in Midland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mazie Spotts; first husband of nearly 50 years, Frederick I. Stevens; son, Jack I. Stevens; brother, Russell B. Spotts; and sister, Gladys I. Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas; son, Dennis R. Stevens (Nora) of Charlotte and Eaton Rapids; Douglas' sons, Norman (Diane) Lake of Midland and Kenneth (Laurie) Lake of Rogers, AR; and his daughter, Marjorie (Robert) Hyde of Dexter, MI.; nine grandchildren, Natalie (Luar), Jeremy (Liana), Krystina (Christopher), Samantha, Zachary, Casey, Keziah, Michele, and Mike; and seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Finley, Brittany, Scott, Brendan, Hannah, and Olivia.
Arrangements are by Wilson MILLER Funeral Home in Midland with services being held on Wednesday, Nov. 19 with Reverend Jeremy Africa of First United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov. 20 in the Perry Cemetery in Eaton County.

Dalton LaMonte
Dalton W. LaMonte, of Charlotte, age 85, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the same residence in Carmel Township where he was born April 25, 1922, the son of F. Cline and Maude M. (Parr) LaMonte.
He was a life-long resident and farmer on the family farm where he raised prized registered Holstein Dairy Cattle. He was a graduate of Charlotte High School and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Parr LaMonte; sister, Mary Louise Wight; brother-in-law, D. Roger Wight and niece, Lynn Cambron.
Surviving are numerous cousins. He was "grandfather" to Kimberly and Tiffany Friar and "great-grandfather" to Annabelle, Kayla and Jake.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Marc Livingston officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lou Langridge
Lou Vernia (Holt) Langridge, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at her home. Lou was born Jan. 8, 1923 in Inez, Kentucky to Henry S. and Annie (McCoy) Holt.
The family moved to the Marshall area in 1935 and she has lived here since. As many children of her era, Lou pitched in and worked at a young age to help support her family. While at a "cowpasture" baseball game, Lou met Charles R. "Chuck" Langridge. On the ride home Chuck announced to his brother Clarence that "he was going to marry that girl!" Lou eventually agreed with him and the couple were married on May 31, 1941 in Louisa, Kentucky. The couple have enjoyed a good marriage and friendship the past 66 years.
Lou had worked at Ronan and Kunzl, the College Inn Restaurant in Olivet, Pak-R-Board, Progressive Dynamics and St. Regis Paper Company until the 1970's. She was a working partner in the family farm picking up a pitch fork, hoe or whatever tool needed to be wielded to accomplish a job. She once raised parakeets to sell, as well as chickens and rabbits. Canning fruits and vegetables from their garden was a yearly project Chuck and Lou did together. She had been an active 4-H volunteer.
She was an avid reader during her lifetime. Lou loved to piece quilts and has completed more than her family can remember. Lou loved to feed family and friends and many holidays were met by Chuck and Lou delivering a basket of homemade goodies to their door. Lou was a homebody who cherished her time with her family. Over the years nearly all of her activities were done jointly with husband Chuck.
Surviving are her husband, Charles R. "Chuck" Langridge; their daughters, Carolyn (Charles) Wiles of Yarnell, AZ and Barbara (Robert) Gary of Marshall; their sons, Clair Langridge of Flint and Ken Langridge of Marshall; four grandchildren, Michelle Andrews, Cori Bernd, Christopher Gary and Zachary Langridge; 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, James L. Holt of Battle Creek; and her sister, Nancy Kunzl of Tryon, NC; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger L. Langridge in 1966; a brother, Grant Holt; and sisters, Henrietta Holt, Carrie McCoy, Jean Curtis, Alma Charkowski and Pansy Goble and her parents.
Funeral services to celebrate her life were held on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home in Marshall with Mr. Adam Andrews as celebrant. Committal was at Albion Memory Gardens.
