Marion Mathews
Marion J. (Sheppard) Mathews, 86, of Charlotte, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at the Flower House Adult Foster Care Home, Nashville, MI. Mrs. Mathews was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Albert R. and Estelle (Mulhollan) Sheppard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Olive Homer Mathews on Oct. 20, 2002.
Surviving are her son, Bert (Bonnie) Mathews of Charlotte; two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Jones of Mountain Home, AR and Olivette Stokes-Turbeville of Laramie, WY; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
At Mrs. Mathews request, cremation has taken place. No services will be held.

Joyce Marie Maupin
Joyce Marie Maupin, age 86, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 in Lansing. Joyce was born October 16, 1921 in Royal Oak, MI, the daughter of Leon James and Helen Marie (Hanson) McVoy. She worked in business administration during Pearl Harbor; received nurses training and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Henry Ford Hospital. In Eaton Rapids Joyce started working at the old Stimpson Hospital, and later in the Eaton Rapids Community Hospital and Clinic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kaye; daughter, Ann Marie; and sister, Jean McVoy.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Martha (Roy) Creason of P.O. Box 1463, Victorville, California 92393; and sister, Shirley McVoy of California. Memorial services will be held later in the year. Arrangements are by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, MI. Quincy Ann Mayfield
Quincy Ann Mayfield, 72, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in Charlotte. Quincy was born November 17, 1935 in Brinkley, Ark., the daughter of Charles Quinton and Katie Mae (Holifield) Poole.
She moved to Lansing in 1955 after marrying George Mayfield. Quincy became an active member of Miller Road Bible Church. She retired from Dean Special Transportation before moving to Manton in 1983. Quincy was elected to two terms as the Liberty Township Clerk in Wexford County, and attended church in Manton. In the early '90s she moved to Dimondale to be near her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George C. Mayfield in 1981; brother, Charlie Poole; and sister, Augustine Arline.
Quincy is survived by her children, Joseph D. (Shirley) Mayfield of Lansing, Doris (Robert, II) Hipps of Eaton Rapids, Glenda (Larry) Ray of Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, Joseph C., Hannah, Michelle, Travis, Trevor and Jaclyn Mayfield, Amy and Robert Allen Hipps III, Jeffrey Mayfield, and Dustin and Crystal Burghdoff; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Clare Lee (Martell) Rose of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at East Lawn Cemetery, Okemos. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association or Eaton County Extended Care Facility, Charlotte, in memory of Quincy Mayfield.
Kenneth Maynard
Kenneth Ray Maynard, 79, of Dowling, died Sept. 21, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. He was born April 16, 1929, the son of Acie Lee and Beulah Mae (Watts) Maynard in Lansing. He worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1990.
Kenneth married Marjory Turnes on October 13, 1979. Marjory survives. Also surviving are children, Frank (April) Maynard and Steve (Charlotte) Maynard, all of Bellevue, Kathy (Jimmy) Bower of Hastings, Kevin (Sherri) Maynard of Florida, Karen (Denny) Foster of North Carolina and Dana R. Maynard of Holt; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Fay Jones of DeWitt; brothers, Gene (Donna) Maynard of Mecosta and Gale (Nancy) Maynard of Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Luella (Dargitz) Maynard; his son, Kenneth W. Maynard; brothers, James Maynard, John Maynard, Jack Maynard and sisters, Millie Gallimore and Margie Maynard. Kenneth was a member of the Bellevue Conservation Club; he volunteered with 4-H and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Services took place Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel in Bellevue with Pastor Brian Spencer officiating. Interment was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Hastings.
Memorial contributions may go to Good Samaritan Hospice Residence or Bellevue Conservation Club.

Charles F. “Charlie” McCarrick
Charles F. “Charlie” McCarrick, age 72 of Eaton Rapids died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at his residence following a long illness. He was born February 7, 1936 in Lansing the son of Irving and Verna (Twichell) McCarrick. Charlie had formerly worked as a Truck Driver for Miller Trucking in Detroit and retired in 1996 form the City of Eaton Rapids in the DPW Department. He was a former Volunteer Fireman for the City of Eaton Rapids and was a 4-H Leader for 10 years. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister.
Surviving are his wife Rosetta; 5 daughters and a son, Julie (Ken) Locke, Kathy (Dan) Curtis, Debbie (Cody) Forist all of Eaton Rapids, Greg (Emily) McCarrick of Owosso, Georgia McCarrick of Kokomo, IN and Crystal McCarrick of Lansing; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandson; sister, Sharon McCarrick of Eaton Rapids; 2 brothers, Richard (Diane) McCarrick of Lansing and Robert (Nancy) McCarrick of Grafton, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held April 5 at the Skinner Funeral Home with burial following in the Rosehill Cemetery.
Braden McClure
Braden Clark McClure, of Charlotte, infant son of Bradley and Erica (Clark) McClure, passed away on July 18, 2008. Braden was born on Jan. 31, 2008 and lived at home with his parents and sister, Mariah.
He was the light of their lives and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, sister and grandparents, Wesley and Karen McClure and Gary Clark and Maggie Clark of Cloverdale, Ind.
Services were held Monday, July 21. On Tuesday, July 22, the family traveled to Cloverdale, IN where funeral services were held at Whitaker Funeral Home, 201 N. Lafayette. Interment was the next day at Cloverdale Community Cemetery.

Roy McCoubrey
Roy McCoubrey, 91, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008. Mr. McCoubrey was born Sept. 2, 1917 in Kenmore, Ohio, the son of Ray D. and Rose C. (Cronk) McCoubrey.
He was a life-long member of VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and the Eaton Area Senior Center.
Roy enjoyed many things in life, including fishing, golfing, camping, playing cards, carpentry work, and his family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; second wife, Helen; and his sister, Catherine.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Janet (Ray) Rhoades of Charlotte, Tommy (Teresa) McCoubrey of Dunlap, TN, Harold (Patricia) Braham of Flint, Gerald (Janet) Braham of Grand Blanc, and Beverly (Jim) Schlee of Grand Blanc; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis McCoubrey of Detroit; sister, Mary (Johnny) VanGoosen, of Calhoun, GA.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Denis Spitzley officiating.

Kathryn McCoy
Kathryn L. McCoy, 87, of Charlotte, died Saturday, June 28, 2008. Mrs. McCoy was born July 14, 1920 in Black Oak, AR, the daughter of S.J. and Estelle (Simmons) Berry.
Mrs. McCoy moved to the Benton Harbor area in the 1940's and supported the war efforts during WWII working in a munitions factory. Years later, she retired from Hinkles Bakery in Otsego, MI. Mrs. McCoy moved to Charlotte in 1993 and Charlotte has been her home ever since. She was a caring mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. McCoy was unselfish and gave of herself to always help others.
She is survived by her son, Stan (Kathy) McCoy of Charlotte; daughter, Virginia (Jack) Vandestreek of Longwood, FL; stepdaughters, Wanda (Lynn) Nemeth of Southbend, IN, Faith VanDyke of Edwardsburgh, MI, Hope (Bill) Dean of Baroda, MI and Waneeta (Denny) Ott of Galien, MI; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Pettit and Inez Lowery; brothers, Junior Berry and Bill Berry.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. at 211 W. Seminary St., Charlotte.

Elsie McKibbin
Elsie Pearl (Stank) McKibbin, of Lake Odessa, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI at the age of 92. She was born April 20, 1915 in Yankee Springs, MI, daughter of George Elmer and Minnie Amelia (Patten) Todd.
Elsie was preceded in death by both her parents and seven brothers and sisters; and the love of her life, Anton Stank who passed away in 1966; second husband, Robert McKibbin; and grandchild, John.
She is survived by her four children and their families, Edward (Kim) Stank of Portland, Rose Emory and Pat of Lake Odessa, John (Janice) Stank of Grant, MI, and Randy Stank of Mulliken; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Ike and Toby and their families.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with Rev. Ben Herring and Rev. Randall Bertrand of the Woodgrove Perish in Coats Grove officiating. The Pallbearers were Doug Fox, Doug Schrauben, Mike Daniels, Cory Stank, Bob Dombrowski, and Kerry Haynor, Rick Stank, and Jim Stank.
