Sharon McManus
Sharon Elaine McManus, 69, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in Dimondale. Sharon was born February 25, 1939 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Carl and Gladys (Norris) Wood.
She loved her children and grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy (Orin) Carpenter; brother, Lawrence (Donna) Wood; and sister-in-law, Ruth Wood.
Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Russell W. McManus; one daughter, Melody (Tim) Totten of Haslett; three sons, Michael (Debi) McManus of Charlotte, Mark (Karri) McManus of Eaton Rapids, and Matthew (Casey) McManus of Fla.; four grandchildren, Hannah Totten, Owen, Garrett and Audrey McManus; six step-grandchildren, Jason and Phillip Seger, Robert, Chris, Daniel and Laura Durante; six step-great-grandchildren, Dakota Wilson, Josiah and Isiah Seger, Kaylyn, Joseph, and Logan Durante; two brothers, Oscar "Pete" Wood, Jerry (Shirley) Wood, all of Charlotte; one sister, Betty (Bob) Dilday of Laingsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Frank Klassen officiating. Interment followed at Perry Cemetery, Brookfield Twp. Evelyn McNamara
Evelyn Mae McNamara, 83, of Eaton Rapids passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Mid-Michigan Hospice House in Lansing. She was born July 25, 1924, the third child of Edward and Eva (Morin) Lancour of Osier, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
As a child, Evelyn lived in logging camps and later helped out in the family grocery store. In 1946, Evelyn married Martin Francis McNamara, also from the Upper Peninsula. Martin and Evelyn spent their lives and raised their family in Eaton Rapids. Evelyn’s strength of character and sense of humor were infused in her commitment to her children and family.
Evelyn’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting and reading. Evelyn always thought the best of people and brought out the best in them. She was a member of the St. Peter Holy Catholic Church and a long-time active member of St. Peter’s Altar Society. She was a 30-year volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul clothing bank of Eaton Rapids, in fact, she and several other women organized the clothing bank which allowed hundreds of women and children to go to school and go to work with dignity.
Evelyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhea Ann Seeley; Evelyn’s first husband, Kenneth Rabideau, who was killed in action in WWII and brothers, Stanley and Maurice.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Martin McNamara and 16 children; Gary (Julie) of Eaton Rapids; Patrick (Carol) of Eaton Rapids; Lynn “Chick” (Herb) Blue of Spring Lake; Larry (Sue) of Englewood, Fla.; Joseph of Coral, Mitch (Helen) of Eaton Rapids; Nan (jerry) Holden of Bannister; Robert of Nashville, Tenn.; Kathleen “Kitty” (Mike) Green of Beaver Island; Peggy Wilcox of Petoskey; Mary McNamara of Nashville, Tenn.; Susie (Floyd) Baker of Ionia; Chris of Bradenton, Fla.; Vince (Kim) of Muskegon; Theo of Anchorage, Alaska and Steve (Brigid) of Harper Woods; son-in-law, Mike Seeley of Kentwood; 27 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Helen Lustik; Joyce Bartlett; Nellrae St. Onge; Roger (Joyce) Lancour; Gerald (Vernice) Lancour and Sharon (John) Bates.
Mass of the Christian Burial was prayed Monday, March 24 at St. Peter Holy Catholic Church, Eaton Rapids, with Father Bennett Constantine as Celebrant, Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the St. Peter Church Building Fund or St. Vincent DePaul, St. Peter’s Conference in memory of Evelyn McNamara.
Dolas Mead
Dolas M. Mead, 70, of Springport, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008 in Charlotte. Dolas was born Oct. 4, 1938 in Jackson, the daughter of Norman and Alice (Johnston) Malosh.
She was a graduate of Vandercook Lake High School, class of 1956. Dolas was the current president of the Springport VFW Auxiliary Adams & Rockey Post #6056 and active with the Jackson County Dept. of Aging, Crouch Center.
Dolas was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Rowley in 1980.
She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Howard Mead of Springport; two sons, Richard (Cecila) Rowley of Ft. Kent, Maine, and Steven Rowley of Springport; four grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jeffrey Rowley, and Nichole and Taylor Rowley; one sister Dolores (Dale) Wheat of Kalkaska; niece, Teresa (Dick) Ankney; and nephew, Kenneth (Brenda) Wheat.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at the VFW Hall, Springport, with Rev. Irene Vittoz officiating. Arrangements are by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813, in memory of Dolas Mead.
Bonnie Menovske
Bonnie Menovske, of Clinton Township, formerly of Lansing, born on July 11, 1936 in Mason, to Enoch Larkin and Mildred Lucille (Moomey) Walker; passed away on March 26, 2008 in Charlotte, at the age of 71.
Bonnie graduated from Mason High School in 1954 and retired from the DNR Fisheries Division, Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station after 32 years of service with the State of Michigan. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, traveling to Hawaii, and sporting events, especially University of Michigan sports.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Norman Lindsay.
Surviving are her loving children, Carole (Gary Boersen) Menovske of St. Johns, Stephen Menovske of Ashley, Denise Menovske of Prunedale, CA, Matthew Menovske of Junction City, CA, Dawn Ching of Kapolei, HI, Deb (Steve) Shaughnessy of Charlotte, and Joseph (Marea) Menovske of ElsieI; eight grandchildren, Matthew and Christa Schueller, Chelsea, Kelli and Joey Ching, Levi Menovske, and Bonnie and Tyler Menovske; mother, Mildred Walker of Mason; brother, Bernie Walker of Pelkie, MI; sisters, Shirley Giesey of Mason, and JoAnn Alderman of Holt.
Memorial services were held March 29, 2008 at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with the Rev. John Bailey of Charlotte Church of Christ officiating.

David Eugene Meoak
David Eugene Meoak, age 57, of Eaton Rapids, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at a Lansing hospital. He was born March 22, 1951 in Lansing the son of Eugene and Anne (Donaldson) Meoak. David was a retired Corrections Officer for the State of Michigan stationed in Jackson. He was a member of the Onondaga Sportsman’s Club and a former member of the American Legion Post in Jackson. Dave was an avid hunter and out-doors-man. Preceding him in death were his parents, Eugene and Anne.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Kathy (Knickerbocker) Moeak; 3 sons, Tyler, Mitchell and Todd Meoak; 3 brothers, John (Betty) Meoak, Tom Meoak and Jim (Linda) Meoak; sister, Barb (Doug) Carl; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Honoring David’s wishes there will be no services and cremation will take place. The family is being served through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
James Meridith
James E. Meridith Jr., 41, of Potterville, formerly of Mechanicsville, MD, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. Mr. Meridith was born March 12, 1967 in Leonardtown, MD, the son of James Edward Sr., and Anita Marie Meridith.
He was raised in St. Mary's County Maryland, where he played in various bands, such as the Wanders, Timberline, Kasino, Murphy's Law and many others. He was very proud of the time he spent over seas entertaining the troops through the USO tours. Locally he had played with the Back Woods Band, and Brian Lorente. He was a Founding Disc Jockey for Whispering Rose Radio. James will be laid to rest in his home state of Maryland.
His is survived by his sisters, Rachele Marie and Crystal Lea Meridith; his extended family; Linda Gill, Winnifred Gill, Jeffrey Spangler, Bobbi Lynn Spangler (David Hart), Bobby (Cuz) Mary Murphy, and his beloved Ripley.
Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday June 1, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Cliff Bartley officiating.

June G. Merrill
Angels too our Mother, June G. Merrill, age 74, of Eaton Rapids, home to our Lord on Sunday April 13th, after a long battle with breast cancer. June was born June 21st, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of John and Jenny Larsen from Norway and had one brother, Herbert Larsen, of Hempstead, New York.
She married Seaman Jason L. Merrill in 1952, after nine years in the Navy, they returned to her husband’s hometown in Hillsdale, Michigan, where she completed Beauty School in 1969. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001.
June had 4 children; Karen (Susie) Pollmann-Antaya, Joyce Sullivan, Jean Squires of Eaton Rapids, and a son, James Merrill from California. She had 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services, to “Celebrate her Life,” will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 2:00 p.m., from the Skinner Funeral Home, 315 South River St., Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends and family at VFW Post 6986 in Onondaga after the services.
Janet Merwin
Janet I. Merwin, 78, of Leslie passed away Friday, Feb. 15 in Leslie.
Janet was born Nov. 4, 1929 in Lansing, the daughter of Harold and Wilma (Herrick) Kowalk.
Janet was called “Mom” by all of her children’s friends; family was her passion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas J. Merwin, Sr. and infant daughter Jerrene Annette.
Janet is survived by her four children; Paulette (Donald) Soule of Mason, Douglas (Paula) Merwin,, Jr. of Leslie, Jerry (Julie) Merwin of Leslie and Janette (Stanley) Seavey of Grand Blanc; 11 grandchildren, Tamara Allen, Thomas (Melissa) Soule, Timothy (Heather) Soule and Tiffany (William) Horton, Graham (Barb) Merwin and Jessica (Ken) Merwin-Scott, Sarah (Thom) Lattig and Rebekah (Mark) Losey, Jacob (Mindy) Seavey, Emily (Keith) Johnson and Stanley Seavey, Jr.; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 17 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.

Maxine Meyers
Maxine M. Meyers, 79, of Charlotte, died at her home on Thursday, June 19, 2008. Maxine was born May 1, 1929 in Lansing, the daughter of Almerian and Lillian (Lettimore) Allen.
Maxine was an office manager for the 56th District Court in Charlotte for many years. She was a loyal member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Women's Bible Study Group. She was a caring mother and grandmother who loved and protected her family. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. She was a wonderful cook and an avid bowler and played in local leagues for many years. She also liked to travel and had a passion for the lighthouses of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and her grandson, Jason Dimmick.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold; son, Rick (Barb) Meyers of Lansing; daughter Diane (Fred) Dimmick of Pikesville, NC; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 23, 2008 at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Wagner officiating.
