Duane Mulholland
Duane Arnold Mulholland, 74, of Potterville, died Sept. 5, 2008 at Sparrow Health Systems in Lansing. Duane was born April 23, 1934, in Potterville, the son of Floyd and June Elizabeth (Hawley) Mulholland.
He worked in truck repair at General Motors and as a union committee man for UAW Local 652. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, his cats and dogs, the 1960 Ford Galaxy, and taking Margaret out to lunch.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Dennis Stump; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Harder) Mulholland; daughters, Lori Rock and Amy (Scott Thompson) Mulholland, both of Potterville; and step-son, Gary (Young) Stump, of California; grandchildren, Ryan and Cory Rock; and sister, Ardith Piercefield of Charlotte.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Reverend Chuck Jenson officiating. Interment was in Benton Township Cemetery in Potterville.

June Mulholland
June E. Mulholland, 92, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Mrs. Mulholland was born June 14, 1916 in Potterville, the daughter of Don and Kathleen (Cowon) Hawley.
Mrs. Mulholland attended Potterville United Methodist Church where she was active crocheting mittens and hats for the church sale. She enjoyed quilting, canning and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; brothers, Hugh Hawley; sisters, Audry Gillett and Jean Edwards.
She is survived by her daughter, Ardith Piercefield of Charlotte; son, Duane Mulholland of Potterville; grandchildren, Curt (Kimberly) Piercefield, Dan Piercefield, Lori Rock and Amy Mulholland; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Chelsea, Dale Anna, Corey and Ryan; great-great grandchildren, Kiarah and Kayle.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jenson officiating. Interment was at Benton Township Cemetery in Potterville.

Jane Murdock
Jane Eileen (Ross) Murdock, of Charlotte, passed away on June 22, 2008 in Charlotte at the age of 57. She was born Jan. 5, 1951 in Bad Axe, MI.
Jane was a physical therapist and manager of inpatient rehabilitation services for 35 years, with the last 30 years being employed by Sparrow Hospital.
She had been active in state and national physical therapy associations and had served in many capacities until her retirement in May.
Jane was a certified master gardener and had continued her horticultural education in the Lansing Area. She devoted countless hours of volunteer services and mentoring many colleagues and associates in master gardening techniques. She was always available to provide different gardening samples for her family, friends, and neighbors.
Jane also enjoyed traveling and looked forward to planning the next major trip, and organizing photos from the trips for family and friends. Jane was devoted to her family, friends and co-workers and had an eye for detail.
She always thought of others by acquiring gifts during her travels. Jane was regularly requested by family and friends to provide her superior photographic skills for special events.
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Maxwell Lee Ross.
Surviving are her loving husband of 36 years, Richard "Rick" Murdock; mother, Margaret Ann (Bedford) Ross-Hudson; brother, Scott (Margo) Ross; sister, Connie (Robert) Schultz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service of witness to the resurrection was held Friday, June 27, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, 211 N. Chestnut St., Lansing with the Rev. Anthony A. Patrick officiating.

George W. Music
George W. Music, age 77, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 in Eaton Rapids. George was born November 23, 1930 in Bonanza, Kentucky, the son of Jesse Bryan and Ocie Lee (Whitaker) Music. He was previously employed with Heifetz Pickling Co. and Michigan Packaging Co. in Eaton Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal; brothers, Scott Music, Franklin Music; and sister, Mary Perkins; George is survived by 1 daughter, Shirley Ann Music of Florida; step-daughter, Sylvia (Lon) Hazelwood of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Brandi Milks, Travis and Shane Music, Andre (Jennifer), Benjamin, Heather, and Adam (fiancé, Jessica) Hazelwood, Elizabeth (Zachary) Foster; 4 great grandchildren, Gage Music, Manuel Robles, Keyon & Tyrique Crusoe; brother, Jeff Music of Homer; sister, Genoa Jewel Lawson of Clifford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids with Rev. Scott Boles officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Betty Neeb
Betty Jane Ovenshire Neeb, 87, of Clarksville, was taken Home to be with her resurrected Lord on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008. Betty was born in Charlotte on June 20, 1920 to Joseph and Jessie (Claflin) Norris.
She was united in marriage to Max Ovenshire on Dec. 31, 1939. Following her husband's ordination into the ministry, they served United Brethren churches in Corunna, IN, Woodland and Kilpatrick, Pleasant Valley and Freeport, Lowell, Clare, and Hastings, MI. Betty was proud to have graduated from Lakewood High School in 1979. She loved her nicknames, "Joybells" and "Grace."
Rev. Ovenshire died on Jan. 15, 1970. Betty was married to Floyd Neeb in the late 1970's, and he also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Kay Diane Ovenshire and Rebecca J. Ovenshire Flowers; grandson, Joshua Ryan Willette; sisters, Ella Satterley, Mable Wakley, and Josephine Davidson; and brothers, Harold, Raymond, Leo, Dale, and Thomas Norris.
Betty is survived by her sons, Darrell (Carol) Ovenshire of Detroit, and James Ovenshire of Florida; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Wilford "Bill" Norris; the extended Neeb family; and all of the "adopted" children and grandchildren she loved through the years.
The funeral service was held March 27 at the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley United Brethren Church or to continue research in finding a cure for Astrocytoma.
Alyce May Nelson
Alyce May Nelson, age 96 of Burcham Hills Retirement Center in East Lansing died Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Born September 29, 1911 in Ralston, OK. The daughter of Samuel and Dottie (Mitchell) Mann. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Liberty Christian Church in Lansing since she moved here in 2002. Preceding her in death was her husband Wally in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally (Tim) Cattron of Eaton Rapids; 3 grandchildren, Melissa (Steve) Lazzarini of Paso Robles, CA, Christy (Jason) Weathers of Lancaster, KY and John (Rachel) Cattron of Charlotte; 8 grandchildren and sister, Verna Sisk of Wildomar, CA.
Funeral services were held February 8th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring memorial gifts may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice at 2675 S. Iva Nelson
Iva Zoe Nelson, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Charlotte, died peacefully on March 28, 2008 after a short illness. Iva was born in Monroe, Wis., on Nov. 14, 1920, the youngest child of Bert and Zoe Adelman.
Iva was a long time resident of Charlotte and worked for many years with her husband in their finance business. They enjoyed U of M football, entertaining, traveling and boating on Lake St. Clair and Lake Michigan and were members of the Charlotte Country Club. After Ned's death, Iva continued to run their business and did volunteer work for hospice in Eaton County before moving to Grand Rapids to be close to her family. She enjoyed 13 happy, independent years at the Sentinel Pointe Retirement Community before moving to Holland Home's Devos Center. We would like to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the staff at both places for the loving care and kindness shown to Iva.
Iva was preceded in death by her six brothers and sisters; her husband, Ned Nelson; and her daughter, Christina.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold Nelson and Marlene Vitasinski and her two beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Zoe and Kevin Edward.
A celebration of Iva's life will take place at Sentinel Pointe, 2900 Thornhills SE, Grand Rapids, on April 12 at 2 p.m.

Joseph Nelson
Joseph L. Nelson, 89, of Charlotte, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008. Joe was born May 1, 1919 in Muncie, IN the son of Evert and Estella (Stradling) Nelson and had lived most of his life in the Charlotte area.
He was a 1937 graduate of Charlotte High School. He was a retired meat cutter and salesman for Allen Packing Co. of Charlotte, later working for Carl's Market of Olivet. Prior to that he was a dairy farmer during WWII.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Wilber and Tom Nelson and sisters, Lula Young, Ophelia Anuchick, Bertha McCombs and Laura Hall.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Barbara (Grier) Nelson; two sons, William (Susan) Nelson of Plainwell and John (Cheryl) Nelson of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Jeremy Nelson, Tonia Nelson and Carrie (Scott) Crain and three great-grandchildren, Breydan and Trask Nelson and Isabella Crain.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Tom Raymond officiating. Interment in the Millerburg Cemetery.

David Newcomb
David Lowayne Newcomb, 47, of Lansing, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. He was born June 10, 1961 in Lansing, son of the late Lowayne Newcomb and Anna (Fegley-Newcomb) Shaver.
David worked in the meat department at L&L Shop-Rite in Lansing for over 20 years.
From the age of three, he attended church at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lansing. From 1980-84, he served in the United State Marine Corps.
David enjoyed fantasy football and working on his computer.
His life was cut short after a courageous battle with leukemia, and he will be missed dearly by those who knew him.
Surviving are his mother, Anna (Ronald) Shaver of Harrison; brother, Daniel (Starr) Newcomb of Eaton Rapids; sisters, Melissa (Tom) Olson of Eaton Rapids, and Michelle (Dan) Meiss of Pittsburg, PA; stepbrothers, Ronald (Nancy) Shaver, Jr. of Marcellus, and Bernard (Renee) Shaver of Elwell; stepsisters, Jacqueline Axe of Kalamazoo, and Barbra (William) Courtright of Clare; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home. Interment followed at East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos.
