Ronald Parkinson
Ronald Edward Parkinson, 47, of Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008. Ron was born Dec. 12, 1960 in Marshall, the son of Robert P. and Kathryn (Gilbert) Parkinson.
He was a 1979 Graduate of Charlotte High School and was employed as an Oil Field Foreman for Shunk Oil Field.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon (Hayes) Parkinson; five children; his mother, Kathy Parkinson of Charlotte; and his sister, Sandy Peck of Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his father on June 18, 2008.
No services will be held. Memorial contributions may go to the family.

Benjamin Pauls
Benjamin “Ben” Todd Pauls, 36, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Friday, May 2, 2009 in Eaton Rapids. Ben was born November 5, 1971 in Lansing, the son of Harlan Benjamin and Judy Kay (Michael) Pauls.
He graduated from Eaton Rapids High School, Class of 1989, and was on the Eaton Rapids State Championship Wrestling Team. Ben was a veteran of the US Navy, trained as an EMT and paramedic, and was an Eaton Rapids volunteer fireman. He was currently employed with Dunnigan Brothers Construction in Jackson.
Ben was preceded in death by grandparents, Francis Michael, Jr., and Bernice and Harlan Pauls Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Melody Pauls; daughter, Anne Marie Pauls; son, Ezekial “Zeke” “Zack” Pauls; mother and father, Harlan and Judy Kay Pauls of Eaton Rapids; grandmother, Thelma Michael; two sisters, Tammie (Donald) Brown, and Melanie Wood (Christopher) McCord, all of Eaton Rapids; mother and father-in-law, Penny (Roy) Therrien of Charlotte and Jeff (Molly) Harmon of Mo.; special friends, the Michael Tyrnow family of Eaton Rapids; and nieces and nephews, Cheyenne Moore, Jessica Seward and Harley Brown, Devin Wood, and Dustin, Tayler, and Jorden McCord.
A memorial gathering was held Sunday, May 4 at “The Island” in Eaton Rapids. Arrangements were by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Ben was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Shirley Pavlik
Services were held July 29 for Shirley A. Pavlik, 83, formerly of Charlotte, who passed away July 22.
Mrs. Pavlik was a sorority house mother at Michigan State University for Phi Mu and also at the Ohio State University for Delta Delta Delta for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Pavlik and her daughter, Carolyn S. Esch on Jan. 29, 2008.
She leaves a daughter Andrea (Joe) Fix of Charlotte; son, Chris (Pam) Pavlik of Wadswoth, Ohio; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Mary Ellen Pearl
Mary Ellen Pearl, 69, of Mulliken, was received into heaven Oct. 13, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Pearl was born Oct. 27, 1938 in Lake Odessa, a daughter of Andrew W. and Leta E. (Merryfield) Parker. She was a 1957 graduate of Grand Ledge High School, a member of the Grand Ledge Church of the Nazarene and was active in the Sunfield Historical Society.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Parker, and an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ellen.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Richard; four daughters, Teresa (Ted) Worthington of Mulliken, Loretta (Alan) Emmons of Woodland, Mardelle Emery of Vermontville and Richelle (Steve) Martzke of Sunfield; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; her mother, Leta (Donald) Collier of Mulliken; sister, Ruth Ann (George) Mellios of Mulliken; aunt, Bethel Meister of Alaska; uncle, Keith (Reva) Merryfield of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Oct. 16 at Grand Ledge Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Richard Hand officiating. Interment was in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeremy Emery, Jim Lowder, Reid and Steve Martzke, Jeff Messenger and Ted Worthington.

Joe Peavyhouse
Joe Y. Peavyhouse, 69, of Olivet, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at the Eaton Community Hospice House of Charlotte. Joe was born Nov. 1, 1939 in Dayton, TN, the son of Washington and Ann (Tennyson) Peavyhouse and had been a Michigan resident since 1959.
He had been employed as a truck driver for Roadway Express, where he retired in 2003. Prior to that he had been employed at P.C.A. in Grand Rapids, MI. He was a retired member of the Teamsters Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David; and a son, Jerry.
Surviving are five children, Katrina (Alan) Klaiss of Charlotte, Joe Ambrose of Michigan, Mike Peavyhouse of Olivet, Theresa (Mark) Meier of Wichita, KA and Mark (Joan) Bos of Sand Lake, MI; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a brother, Wendell Peavyhouse of Kingsport, TN.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet.

Joey Pedelty
Joey F. Pedelty, 54, of Olivet, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at the Eaton Community Hospice House. Joey was born Feb. 1, 1954 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Norman L. and Alicia (Arce) Pedelty and had been an Olivet resident for 20 years.
He was employed by the Environmental Protection Agency, was president of the Olivet Lions Club and was an active member of the Olivet Congregational Church where he sang in the choir.
Surviving are his wife, Myrna (Castillo) Pedelty; children, Angelita T. Pedelty of Olivet, Norman V. (Jennifer Marie) Pedelty of Saginaw and Isaac J. Pedelty of Olivet; his parents, Norman and Alicia Pedelty of Newaygo, MI; siblings, Laura L. (Fred) Pedelty of Chicago, Ronald R. (Tien Fong) Pedelty of Philadelphia, PA, Gregory Pedelty of Grand Rapids, Jeffrey L. (Jane) Pedelty of Big Rapids and Linda M. Pedelty of Santa Fe, NM.

Jerry Peffer
Jerry Peffer, 58, of Charlotte, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008. Mr. Peffer was born Nov. 25, 1949 in Reed City, MI the son of Albert and Vera Peffer.
Mr. Peffer was employed as a custodian for Eaton County. He enjoyed bowling and listening to music with country being his favorite.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sons, Jason (Rose) Peffer of Charlotte, Jeremy Peffer of Bedford and Adam Peffer of Bedford; daughter, Rachel Peffer of Charlotte; four grandchildren; sister, Joyce (George) Johnson of Sears; sister, Loretta (Carl) Hamilton of Reed City and brother, Phil (Cathy) Peffer of California.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 29, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery in Reed City, MI.

Gordon Peltier
Gordon Peltier, 91, of Bradenton, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008. He was born Aug. 20, 1917 in Owosso, Mich.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a hardworking farmer and carpenter. His passions included flying, shuffle board, playing pool, collecting arrowheads and round stones.
Mr. Peltier was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte, in 1970.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret; three children, Bonnie Norris (companion, Richard) of Florida, Jerry (Alice Ann) Peltier of Georgia, and Sue Lyons (companion Darryl) of Michigan; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jenson officiating.

Bernard Pelto
Bernard C. Pelto, 69, of Escanaba, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008. Mr. Pelto was born July 28, 1938 in Ishpeming, MI the son of Axel and Hilda (Aho) Peltoma.
Mr. Pelto worked 30 years as a tool and die maker for the General Motors Corporation. He was a member of the American Legion Post #42 and Eagles Arie 1088 of Escanaba. Mr. Pelto enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Neal Fuller.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marion; son, Randy Pelto of Olivet; son, Ron Winters of Scandia; daughter, Susan (Bill) Vance of Bellevue; stepson, Roy Fuller of Mason; stepdaughter, Lisa (Abel) Anzaldua of Potterville; stepson, Roger (Mary) Fuller of Lansing; stepson, Bruce Fuller of Lansing; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Corrine (Ron) Reick of Hartford, WI and brother, Don (Lynn) Pelto of Cedarburg, WI.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Sarah Friesen-Carper officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m.
