Raymond Ruthruff
Raymond N. Ruthruff, a wonderful man, husband, father and grandfather, 81, of Charlotte, made his transition Oct. 12, 2008. He was born Jan. 13, 1927 to Manney and Mable (Webster) Ruthruff in Eaton County and lived there most of his life.
On Aug. 18, 1950, he married his wife, Sharon Farrier and they raised one son.
Mr. Ruthruff served his country in the U.S. Army in Saipan.
Mr. Ruthruff retired from the State of Michigan after 30 years, and also worked for Frito Lay in the Charlotte Walmart Store.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; son, Brandon (Amy) Ruthruff; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Carla (Ed) Dunning and Marcia (Leroy) Miller.
There will be no services held.

Mary Ryan
Mary Belle Ryan, 91, of Dimondale, formerly of Charlotte, Holland, Zeeland and Jackson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008. Miss Ryan was born Nov. 16, 1916 in East Penfield, NY the daughter of George H. and Dorothy H. (Lathrup) Ryan.
She was a 1934 graduate of Palmyra (NY) Classical Union High School, attended Moody Bible Institute of Chicago in the 1940's and later attended Western Michigan College from where she graduated in 1956 with her B.S. in teaching. Her teaching spanned more than 20 years, having taught in Jackson, Van Buren and Ottawa counties, retiring in 1973 from the Jenison Public Schools after 13 years there. She also farmed for 13 years in the Zeeland area while teaching.
Mary Belle Ryan moved to Charlotte in January of 1999 to be closer to her niece Grace. While in Charlotte, she attended Calvary Baptist Church, wrote for the F.I.G. newsletter and delivered the F.I.G. paper all over town using her three-wheel tricycle. She also wrote for the Charlotte Shopping Guide, volunteered at several area nursing homes and rode her trike in the Frontier Days parade. In March of 2005, she entered the Dimondale Nursing Care Center, where she was very active in as many activities as she could attend. Friends from the newly formed Grace Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids would take her to Sunday evening services there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, David Ryan and sister, Laura Serage.
She is survived by her niece, Grace (Lonnie) Wolfe of Charlotte; sister, Frances Lamphere; two brothers, George (Elizabeth) Ryan and Donald (Helen) Ryan all of Florida and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastors Mark Michalcewicz, Mark Booth and Mark Wolfe officiating. Interment was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Moody Bible Institute, 820 N. LaSalle Blvd., Chicago, IL 60610-3284 or the Grace Baptist Church, P. O. Box 238, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827.
Mildred Sakraska
Mildred Pauline Sakraska, 95, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 in Holt. Pauline was born Oct. 10, 1913 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Mable (Newth) Freer.
She was a member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church and retired from the State of Michigan.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick K. in 1976; and brother, Stanley Freer in 2004.
She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, Jack Freer, Richard (Vivian) Freer, Joe Freer, all of Eaton Rapids; Melvin (Claudia) Freer of Potterville; Vicki Freer, David Freer, Dennis Freer, Kim (Carol) Freer, all of Eaton Rapids; Christine Sutherland of Lansing; and Ernest Sakraska of Eagle; lots of grand-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, with interment following at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lansing.

Donna Sampson
Donna Jean (Shilling) Sampson of Bellevue, formerly of Olivet, born Oct. 7, 1935, passed away at Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte on Jan. 13, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer during which she continued to be a loyal loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
Donna's thoughts were always of others before her own. Before her health failed, she enjoyed growing flowers. Donna loved spending time with grand children and great-grandchildren, and her adopted family Buffy, Hillary, and Fancy, her cats.
Donna grew up in Lee Township, the daughter of Kenneth and Evelyn Shilling. She married Earl Sampson on Nov. 16, 1953 and was happily married until his death in 1999 after 45 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Shilling in 1978 and husband, Earl Sampson in 1999.
Surviving are a son, Rocky (Nancy) Sampson of Olivet and their children, Michael Sampson of Olivet, Randall (Renee) Sampson of Olivet, Shana Sampson and fiancé, Mark Young of Olivet and Jeffrey Sampson of Olivet; a daughter, Kathy Jo (Nolan Todd) Spotts of Charlotte and their children, Brandon (Andrea) Moe of Springport, Sydney Spotts and Jacob Spotts of Charlotte, and Andrea Spotts of Galesburg; six great-grandchildren, Noah and Kohen Young of Olivet, Ayries Napier of Charlotte, Zach Agy of Olivet and Blake and Lillian Spotts of Galesburg. Surviving siblings include brother, William (Jan) Shilling of Olivet; sisters, Pat (Vern) Norton of Bellevue, Judy (Lyle) See of Olivet and Suzie (Dale) Hoag of Fort Myers, Florida. Also surviving is Donna's Mother, Evelyn Mabel Shilling of Bellevue; special friend, Jim Harris of Olivet and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Oaklawn Hospital Oncology Staff, Dr. Smiley, Dotty, Carolyn and Connie for all their caring effort over the years.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Todd Page officiating. Interment in the Lee Center Cemetery.

Delma Santoro
Delma H. (Cagle) Santoro, 89, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord, Nov. 12, 2008. She was born Aug. 28, 1919 in Warren, TN the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Blaylock) Hale.
Mrs. Santoro worked for Fisher Body in the war era making parts for airplanes and retired after 22 years and built the Delto Carwash in 1967 going on to eventually own three other carwashes.
She enjoyed bowling, southern cooking and going to the Flap Jack restaurant. Her grandchildren were one of the most important things in her life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Cagle in 1961; son, Bill Cagle in 1962; and second husband, Joe Santoro in 1984.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Lloyd) Catey of Grand Ledge and Christine (Chuck, deceased) Cunningham of Charlotte; son, Richard (Joy) Cagle of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Flossie Keener of TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday Nov. 17, 2008 at Millett Bible Church, Lansing, with Reverend Randy Barton officiating. Interment was at Dimondale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Millett Bible Church, or American Cancer Society.

Harold Satterly
Harold "Bill" W. Satterly, 84, of Vermontville, formerly of Charlotte, died Monday, Oct. 6 2008. Mr. Satterly was born June 25, 1924 in Chester Township, MI the son of Donald and Retah (Hicks) Satterly, Sr.
Mr. Satterly enjoyed intarsia woodcarving, golf and softball. He liked participating in tractor pulls, the Detroit Tigers and taking trips to Hawaii and Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Satterly, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June (Baker) Satterly; daughter, Teresa (Joe) Gooch of Charlotte; son, Norm (Carol) Satterly of Nashville; daughter, Sonja (Duane) Hice of Charlotte; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Halsey and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no services held at this time.

Ross M. Sattler
Ross M. Sattler, of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Grand Ledge, a true servant of Jesus Christ, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the age of 61. Ross was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 14, 1946, the son of Merle and Marguerite (Langham) Sattler. He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1965. He then completed his masonary apprenticeship and worked in that field for 41 years. He also used his skills to serve as a missionary in Ecuador where he was involved in building two hospitals. He loved water skiing, the outdoors, coin collecting, and family. Ross was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, who he was married to for 43 years, Sherralyn Dawn Sattler; 4 children, Ross Sattler, Jason (Stephanie) Sattler, Dawn (Brett) Overly, and Spencer (Amber) Sattler. He is also leaving behind eight grandchildren: Madison Sattler; Pearl and Grant Sattler; Seth, Caleb and Bretta Overly; and Bailey and Aaliyah Sattler.
Ross lived and worked harder, and loved more than anyone we ever knew. Ross, while you’re waiting for us to meet you in Jesus’ arms, we will miss you! The Funeral Service was held Monday, November 17, 2008 at South Church with Pastor Don Denyes officiating. Interment followed in Delta Center Cemetery. The family was served by the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to HCJB in memory of Ross. Lois Saunders
Lois Adell Saunders, 99, of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Okemos, passed away peacefully while resting at Eaton Community Hospice on Thursday, July 31, 2008. She was born January 11, 1909 in Okemos, and lived most of her life in that area.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is remembered as a homemaker working "side-by-side" with her husband, Maurice, while farming, gardening, and supporting his musical endeavors. She loved family picnics, music and dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; daughter, Nyla Dansby; sisters, Iva and Gladys; and brothers, Ralph, Robert, Orin and Sterling.
Lois is survived by three daughters, Leola (Alfred-deceased) Jackson of St. Louis, Sharron (Lyle) Tomlin of Manton, Linda (Kirk) Putnam of Eaton Rapids; son-in-law, Richard (Marion) Dansby of Bear Lake; 16 grandchildren, Randy, Nancy, Jeff, Joel, Debbie, Cindy, Kimberly, Kirk II, Dan, Pamela, Steve, Rick, Robert, Darwin, Marianne; many wonderful great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
The family held a casual memorial service and picnic on Friday, Aug. 8 at the home of Linda and Kirk Putnam, Eaton Rapids.
