June Stall
June Arlene Stall (Main, Dunklee), 56, passed away on Oct. 6, 2008. She was born Sept. 23, 1952 to Lawrence and Barbara Main.
June added zest to life, period. She valued most her family and friends. She took pride in hosting and dancing at parties. She had a gift of making everything pretty. She enjoyed decorating wedding cakes, scrap booking, bonfires, hunting and fishing. She loved light houses, horses and hummingbirds. Her wish for everyone she ever knew was joy and happiness.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Main; brothers, Ronald and Thomas Main; and nephew, Jacob Main.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Ronald Marx Stall; parents, Barbara (Main) Faust, Doug and Evelynn Stall; children, Kim (Robert) Rathbun, Shannon (Daniel) Dever, Shaun (Skip) Dunklee, Hd (Marie) Stall; 11 grandchildren, Sierra, Dylan, Taylor, Savannah, Erik, Kearstan, Chelsie, Brandon, Mickayla, Anna, Izzabella; 13 siblings, Ed (Zar) Main, Bob (Kathy) Main, Steve (Abbie) Main, Julie (Main) Krause, Diane Main, Bev (Ivan) Bradley, Cindy (Tom) Raymond, and Don Stall; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Memorial services were held Oct. 18 at Hope Township Hall in Hastings, MI. In lieu of flowers, consider a contribution to the June Stall Memorial at Chemical Bank under Sierra Rathbun's name.
Shirley Staton
Shirley C. Staton, 75, of Charlotte, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008. Mrs. Staton was born June 18, 1933 in Charlotte, the daughter of John and Eleanor (Whitaker) Mitchell.
Mrs. Staton retired from General Motors and enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Staton of Lansing and Colleen (Steven) Copeland of Arthur , Iowa; grandchildren, Krystal and Kenneth (JD) and sister, Veralee Heinze.
Services will be held in Iowa at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice House.

Penny Steketee
Penny K. Steketee, 57, of Bellevue, formerly of Haslett, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 Ms. Steketee was born Feb. 17, 1951 in Lansing, the daughter of Arthur and Joyce (Allen) Lumbert.
Penny was a driver for General Motors at the Milford Proving Grounds until her retirement in 2007. She was a loyal Redwings fan, and enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and her German Shepherd, Magnum.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Hocquard; and daughter, Brandi Hocquard.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara Hocquard of Charlotte; son, Raymond (Becky) Hocquard of Wiggins, MS; two grandchildren, Raymond Hocquard and Mercedes “Sadi” Hocquard; sisters, Peggy (Rod) Sellen of Bellevue, and Patti McElrath; brother, Robert (Vicki) Lumbert; niece, Bree McElrath, all of Goodlettsville, TN, and special friends, Trent Stott and Jeremy Sivilay.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Don Roscoe officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Jack Nelson Stenberg
Jack Nelson Stenberg, age 69 of Mason, MI, died August 12, 2008. He was born July 12, 1939, in Jackson, MI.
Mr. Stenberg graduated in 1961 from Michigan State University. He enjoyed building and remodeling projects. He had an uncanny ability to envision new potential in old structures culminating in the creation of Edgewater Apartments in Eaton Rapids, MI. Jack enjoyed collecting antique cars and historic Michigan maps. He was a person of high integrity with many loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack, Sr.; mother, Mildred; and sister, Patricia.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn of Mason, MI; step-daughter, Wendy Sweet of Holt, MI; 2 sons, Jon (Carolyn) Stenberg of South Windsor, CT; Michael (Jamie) Stenberg of Charlotte, MI; step-son, Jeffrey (Mary) Sweet of Decatur, GA; 5 grandchildren: Blake, Alex, Austen, Alyssa and Zackary.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at Christ Episcopal Church, 9900 N. Meridian, Pleasant Lake, MI, with Ross Vandercook officiating. Interment in East Rives Cemetery, Rives Junction, MI.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI, and on Saturday, at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Bethel Stevenson
Bethel L. Stevenson, 84, of Lansing, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 16, 2008. Bethel was born April 17, 1924 the daughter of Leon and Marguerite (Verplank) Patterson in Lansing.
She was a 1941 graduate of Vermontville High School. A life-long resident of Lansing, she worked for G.M. Fisher Body, Lansing, for 34 years and was a proud member of Local 602. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed spending time with friends, stock car races, bowling, playing cards and Bingo, gambling trips and her precious dog, Molly.
Surviving are her daughters, Marlena Holley, Madalyn Beckett, Melissa Stevenson and son, Mark (Valerie) Stevenson; grandchildren, Shawntel (Andy) Alana, Amy Holley and Miles Stevenson; great-grandchildren, Preston Starks III, Anthony Holley; and sister, Jeanne Mills.
Funeral Services were held Friday, June 20, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Ezop officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Eugene D. Stevenson
Eugene D. Stevenson of Eaton Rapids, age 54, fell asleep in death Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Eaton Rapids. Eugene was born April 3, 1953 in Fairfax, OK. He moved to Michigan in 1978 and worked at Motor Wheel, G.M., and Spartan Cab until he was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1988. Eugene enjoyed fishing, mowing his lawn and was a big-time movie enthusiast. Preceded in death by his grandmother, Ernistine “Big Mama” Williams.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jane (Brenke) Stevenson of Eaton Rapids; 4 children, Curtis (fiancee, Amanda Locke) Stevenson of Eaton Rapids, Scarlett Stevenson of Eaton Rapids, Autumn (fiancé, Tige Walkinhood) of Battle Creek, and Manuella DeLaGarza of Lansing; 2 granddaughters, Areya Dean and “the light of his life”, Vivien Stevenson; mother, Catherine Williams of Wichita, KS; brother, Charles Johnson of Wichita, KS; 5 sisters, Ernistine Gates of Oklahoma City, OK, Sherry (James) Clark of Ponca City, OK, Pam (Robert) Bullock of Wichita, KS, Paula (Virgil) Thomas of Omaha, NE, Veronica (Avit) Kwareh of Englewood, CA; sisters-in-law, Julie (John) Meyer of Olivet, Jill Brenke of Eaton Rapids; brothers-in-law, Jonathan (Jenny) Brenke of Eaton Rapids, Joel (Joanie) Brenke of Nashville; and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids, with Tom Gooden of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Vivien Stevenson Education Fund..
Laura Steward
Laura Mae Steward, 95, of Lake Odessa, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. She was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Boone, Mich.
She married John C. Steward on Sept. 6, 1932 at Angola, Ind. She was a life-long resident of the Sunfield area. She and John were avid and loyal Detroit Tiger fans and spent many winters in Lakeland, Fla. for the Tiger spring training seasons. She loved quilting and made many quilts for beloved family members. Laura also loved to play cards with her friends and family.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, John, and daughter in law, JoAnne Steward.
She is survived by her three sons, Douglas of St. Louis, MI, Robert (Jane) of Portage, MI, and Richard (Bonnie) of Ionia, MI. She loved her grandchildren, Cheryl (Gary) Havenstein, Michelle (Rich) Patterson, Ron (Debbie) Steward, Jon (Erin) Steward, Lee (Rich) Ballor, Kristin (Norm) Kent, Jim Steward and special friend, Debra Atkins, Tom (Sandy) Steward, Betsy (Jim) Sell, Louis, Jamie, and Nicole Steward. She adored all her great-grandchildren and always wanted to hear of their accomplishments and interests. Holly, Robbie, Jeff, Ashley, Melissa, Kenzie, Tom, Elizabeth, JoAnn, Jeffrey, Lisa, Emily Steward, and Janie, were all near and dear to her heart. Laura was especially thankful for three special people who helped her on a daily basis for the past few years of her life, Becki Neil, Jan Smith, and Emili Knop.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield.

Ruby Stofflet
Ruby Virginia (Wellman) Stofflet, 85, died Monday, April 28, 2008. She was born in Vermontville on March 12, 1923, the daughter of Cecil and Bertha (Cook) Wellman.
Ruby married John Franklin Stofflet (a Pearl Harbor survivor) on Jan. 6, 1945, who preceded her in death. Ruby was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte for over 50 years, recently serving on its vestry. With her husband John, she operated the Re-Nu Shoe Repair Shop in Charlotte for many years, while employed at AE/Hoover Ball-Bearing. She worked at the Eaton Place Restaurant in Charlotte from 1991 until her recent illness. A member of the Episcopal Church Women and the VFW Auxiliary, she also volunteered with the Eaton County Adult Handicap Program.
She leaves behind many friends who cherished her gifts of unconditional love, enduring faith and dedication to family.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 2 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte.
