Johnny Ward
Johnny Charles Ward, 46, of Charlotte, died after a long courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, May 3, 2008. Mr. Ward was born in Omaha, Nebraska on Sept. 20, 1961, the son of Elvin Ward and Joyce Brown.
Mr. Ward was the manager at the Fuel Desk at Don's Truck Stop for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Foquer.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Brown); daughter, Cheryl (Kenneth) Walker of Red Oak, TX; brother, Al (Jane) Ward, Portland, ME; sisters, Suzie (James) Shaft, Charlotte, Annie (Scott) Wilhite, Parkman, ME, Billie Jo Canfield, Ovid, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Pray Funeral Home with Dr. David R. MacDonald officiating. Interment was in Pioneer Cemetery in Grand Ledge.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Great Lakes Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Michael Waterbury
Michael Glen Waterbury, 60, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Olivet, died July 5, 2008 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Michael was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Glen E. and Bernadine (LeSeney) Waterbury.
He was a retired printer and was a Vietnam Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen E. Waterbury and brothers, Robert and Roger Waterbury.
Surviving are his mother, Bernadine (LeSeney) Waterbury of Dimondale; son, Eric Lilly of Beulah, MI; two daughters, Sherrie Robbins of Utah and Stephanie Shockroo of Florida; his former wife and friend, Cindy Waterbury of Florida and 12 grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 at the Dimondale Cemetery with Rev. Jack Brown of the Olivet Congregational Church officiating.

Shermie Watson
Shermie Watson, 92, of Crawford, MS, formerly of Marshall, MI, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Shermie was born Jan. 21, 1916 in Floyd County, KY, the son of Branch and Linda (Perkins) Watson and had been a Marshall area resident for 38 years before moving to Crawford, MS in 1976.
He had been a life-long farmer and had been employed at the Gale Iron Foundry in Albion from where he retired in 1964 after 23 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vergie (Cole) Watson; daughters, Eydie Darby, Jan Davis and Geraldine Cornwell and son, Woodroe Watson.
He is survived by three daughters, Fern (Roland) Coats of Spring Lake, MI, Jean (Gary) Morrison of Charlotte and Joy (Brian) Chambers of Mantua, OH; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madge Snook of Marshall and Marge (Harry) Fox of Albion and companion Lou Mandy Williams of Crawford, MS.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Brian Chambers officiating. Interment was in the Rice Creek Cemetery in Lee Twp. of Calhoun County.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. Envelopes available at the funeral home.
Arnold Watters
Arnold “Joe” George Watters, 71, of Dimondale passed away Nov. 21, 2008. Mr. Watters was born in Detroit, the son of Arnold and Mabel (McDonald) Watters.
Joe worked in several tool and die shops in his earlier years. Joe and his wife Sharon worked together in the food service industry operating the Dairy Queen in Charlotte until 1987 and continuing in food service with the Lickity Split in Grand Ledge and Island Dairy in Eaton Rapids. Joe was a generous and hardworking man, not afraid to try something new. He was particularly adamant regarding the truth and believed in doing things right or not at all.
Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; son, Arnold G. Watters III of Charlotte; three daughters, Deanna (Al) Robison of Arizona, Jacqueline Watters of Harrison, and Delores (Mike) Bingham of Charlotte; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara Watters of Warren, MI, and Connie Nowakowski of Lapeer, MI.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Home Health Services Hospice.

Rolland Wehr
Rolland Shumaker Wehr, 91, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday March 15. Rolland was born Aug. 22, 1916 in Charlotte, where he lived his entire life. Mr. Wehr was the son of Lula (Shumaker) and Phillip Wehr.
He attended Miller Country School, first through eighth grade, which was located on Broadway Hwy., and later graduated from Charlotte High School in 1934.
Rolland married Ruth Stanke on June 25, 1939. In 1935, he bought an old farmhouse with no electricity, heat, or plumbing on E. Kalamo Hwy.
He worked at the Charlotte Stockyards and a machine company in Olivet trying to make ends meet while living on the farm. Daughter Carol was born in 1942 and son, Larry in 1943. In 1945, Rolland started taking produce and maple syrup to the Lansing City Market and later he included meat.
Rolland enjoyed cutting wood and gardening. He retired from farming several years ago, but kept a one acre vegetable garden next to his house to stay close to the land. He enjoyed his visits with friends and family near and far and appreciated all that they did for him.
Rolland's first wife Ruth died in 1970 and his second wife Charlotte passed away on April 1, 2007.
He always said he was lucky to have been married to two wonderful women. Rolland is also predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Crozier, Naomi Conard and his brother, Rex Wehr.
He is survived by daughter, Carol (John) Ackerman of Georgetown, TX; son, Larry (Carolyn) Wehr of Chuguak, Alaska; stepchildren, Barb Scears and John Hannah; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Fullerton and brother, Max Wehr.
Funeral services were held Thursday March 20, 2008 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte with interment at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Emogene Weiselberg
Emogene "Jean" T. Weiselberg, 79, of Lansing, died Thursday, May 8, 2008. Mrs. Weiselberg was born May 28, 1928 in Lansing, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Hattie Gordinier.
Mrs. Weiselberg worked as a clerk for Value City Department store in the jewelry and women's clothing department.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Woodliff; son, Earl Arnold; daughter, Patricia Arnold; sister, Gloria Malinoski and stepfather and mother, Earl and Hattie Gordinier.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Weiselberg of Lansing; daughters, Bobbie (Paul) Brownridge of Olivet and Phyllis (Jason) Bartlett of Olivet; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Terri Hosford of Bath.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday June 8, 2008 at Community of Christ Church, Upton Road, Bath, MI.
Instead of flowers, the family would prefer contributions to go to Eaton Community Hospice.

Richard Weiselberg
Richard E. Weiselberg, 77, of Lansing, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008. Mr. Weiselberg was born Sept. 17, 1930 in Lansing, the son of Ernest and Opal Weiselberg.
Richard worked as a carpenter and was a Deacon at Community of Christ where he and Emogene attended.
He was recently preceded in death by his wife, Emogene on May 8 and a brother Carl.
He is survived by daughter, Phyllis (Jason) Bartlett and grandchildren, Kristin Payne, Katie Bearss and Samuel Bartlett; daughter, Bobbie (Paul L.) Brownridge and grandsons, Robert Rainey, Earl, Jason, and Scott Arnold; granddaughter, Tammy Woodliff; adopted daughter, Sonya Hildebrandt of Bath; sisters, Frances Wilson and Pauline Moravec.
Memorial services for Richard and Emogene will be held at 11 a.m., during the regular church services on June 8, 2008 at Community of Christ-Rose Lake, 14980 Upton Road, East Lansing.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions to Eaton Community Hospice.

William Weiss
William H. Weiss, 73, of Charlotte, formerly of Streator, IL passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 at his home. He was born Oct. 19, 1934 in Streator, IL the son of Henry and Lillie (Wehren) Weiss.
Mr. Weiss was employed for 18 years with Owens Brockway in Streator and was a pipe fitter for GM Oldsmobile Division in Lansing. He served in the National Guard in the Korean War. Mr. Weiss was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a life member of the Streator, IL and Charlotte V.F.W.'s and American Legions and served as vice-president for the Seventh Division Reunion Association.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Marland.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly; daughter, Sandra (Michael) Medina of Aurora, CO; son, William Randy Weiss of Kingsland, GA; brother, Ralph C. (Doris) Weiss of Mechanicsburg, PA; sisters, Ruth (Robert) Smelcer of Phoenix, AZ, Dorothy Sibert of Lakeland, FL and Betty Clevenger of Streator, IL; sister in laws, Virginia Weiss of New Lenox, IL and Dorothy, Weiss of Aliquippa, PA and brother-in-law, John Rehbein of Streator, IL.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home, 305 S. Park St., Streator, IL. Interment was held at Riverview Cemetery on Friday, April 25, 2008.
