Jack Clever
Jack O. Clever, 82, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007. Mr. Clever was born Dec. 27, 1924 in Charlotte, the son of Kenneth and Mable (Blue) Clever.
Mr. Clever retired from the city of Charlotte as the Building and Zoning Director. He served in the Army Air Corp in WWII and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Charlotte. Mr. Clever was a former member of the Charlotte Lions Club and past President of the Eaton County Buck Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margery (Wilmore) Clever; brother, Neil Clever and sister, Marjorie Constable.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Steven Clever; daughter, Shannon Clever; step sons, Kevin (Patricia) Mead , Bradley (Cyndi) Mead and Lance (Laura) Mead; grandchildren, Joshua Clever and Elizabeth Clever; step-grandchildren, Brian Mead, Anthony Mead; Heather Mead and former daughter-in-law, Peggy (Scott) Paradise.
Funeral services were held Nov. 2, 2007 at the First Congregational Church, Charlotte, MI with Reverend Phil Hobson officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church or Eaton Community Hospice House, Charlotte.

Clarence Junior Coldiron
Clarence Junior Coldiron, 84, of Charlotte, died Feb. 11, 2007. Mr. Coldiron was born May 23, 1922 in Richmond, Ohio the son of Clarence and Lois Coldiron.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Thora Coldiron; and his son, Charles Coldiron.
He is survived by his daughter, Frances (Mack) Garner of Wyandotte; sons, James Coldiron of Olivet and Ralph Coldiron of Tennessee; grandchildren, Spencer, Stephanie (Christopher) Busenbark; Melanie, Nicole (Daniel) Laurel, Kevin, Craig, and Serena Garner; and six great-grandchildren.
There will be no services.

Beverly Cole
Beverly J. (Slider) Cole, 79, of Albion, formerly of Charlotte died Tuesday, Oct. 2. Mrs. Cole was born April 26, 1928 in Battle Creek, the daughter of John F. and Letia (Clever) Myers, Sr.
Mrs. Cole worked in food preparation at Bill Knapps Commissary. She enjoyed making tea towels, crossword puzzles and reading Indian stories by Cassie Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Slider in 1970 and second husband Ralph Cole in 1995.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Barrett (Bill Scott) of Albion; son, Fred (Debbie) Slider of Livonia; daughter, Jo-Ann Hankins of Holt; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and brother, John F. Myers, Jr. of Rives Junction. Funeral services were Oct. 5 at Pray Funeral Home with Charles Jenson officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery located in Charlotte.

Diane Cole
Diane Jean Cole, 60, of Olivet died unexpectedly Monday, July 23, 2007 at Oaklawn Hospital. Mrs. Cole was born on Jan. 29, 1947 in Marshall to Curtis and June (Sundberg) Cole.
Diane was a lifelong resident of this area and had lived in Olivet for the last 34 years. She had worked in the onion fields north of Marshall in her youth. She later had been employed by Progressive Dynamics, Fabricators and Barney’s Party Store. On Jan. 30, 1956, she married Jerry B. Cole Sr. at the Faith Assembly Church.
Diane was a member of the Marshall Church of Christ. She enjoyed making crafts of all kinds and crocheting. She loved to go camping and fishing and was a familiar sight on the lakes near Tri-Lake Trails Camp Grounds. Diane loved animals and considered her two dogs, Buddy and Scooter, as valued family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and June Cole; and brothers, Jimmy Cole and Timmy Cole.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Sondra (Ted) Snow, Lisa (Ron) Wolf and Tina Cole; sons, Jerry Cole Jr. and Eric (Angela) Cole; grandchildren, Leslie Getter, Jeffrey Getter, Stephen Getter, Jennifer Getter, Kristen Lewis, Jessica Yates, Angie Wolf, Rachel Wolf, Jason Morrison and Derrick Morrison; sisters, Linda Walter, Sharon Esterline; and brother, Glen Cole.
A service to celebrate the gift of her life was held July 26 at the funeral home with Pastor Douglas Hammond of the Marshall Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in Lyon Lake Cemetery.

Rachael K. Cole
Rachael K. Cole, age 71 of Allendale was called home by her Lord and Saviour. She was preceded in death by her brothers Perry and Jim and sister Roxie.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Clifford Cole; her children, Katie & Bruce Harkness of Eaton Rapids, Mike & Kim Cole of West Olive, John & Julia Cole of Ravenna, Loretta & Dan Searles; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Rebecca, Chesney, Alicia, Bethany, Brittnay, Trenton, Candice, Nathan, Daniel, John & Benjamin; brother, Don (Marilyn) Waldron; sister Mary Hoffman; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at Ottawa Center Chapel, Coopersville with Rev. Robert Porterfield and Rev. Robert Searles officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Ottawa Center Chapel, 8991 Leonard Rd. Coopersville, MI, 49404 or Gideons International.
Colleen Converse
Colleen R. Converse, 47, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 8, 2007. Ms. Converse was born June 24, 1959 in Charlotte, the daughter of Ron McDaniel and Patricia Crandell.
She is survived by her parents, Patricia and Jerry Crandell and Ron and Dawn McDaniel; sons, Shane Dills of Lansing, Dustyn Converse of Eaton Rapids and daughter Nissae Converse of Charlotte; brothers, Mark and Jodi McDaniel of Eaton Rapids, Kevin McDaniel of Mason; sister, Kim McDaniel and Steve Fajnor of Bellevue; grandson, Devon Converse; grandmother, Myrtle I. DeLano; step-brothers, Kurt and Julie Crandell of Charlotte; James and Joyce Crandell of Eaton Rapids; step-sisters, Wendy and Lyle Bradford of Eaton Rapids, Teresa Grant of Fredricksburg, Va., Kathy Basano of Allendale, Sabrina Ferris of Richmond, Va. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandfather, Rolland DeLano in 1999.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Kurt “K.C.” Crandell, II officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte

Warren Cook
Warren Jay Cook, 87, passed on July 10, 2007 at his home in Charlotte. He was born Sept. 17, 1919 the fourth of five children of Earl and Beulah Cook.
Warren graduated from Traverse City High School at age 16 and farmed until World War II when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps serving in North Africa and Italy; became an engineering officer, finishing with a rank of Major in the 317th Fighter Unit. After the war, he and his wife started a family farm, but left the farm to earn Bachelor's and Master's degrees from MSU in Soil Science. He then started work with MSU Extension in Calhoun County, moving to Oscoda County as County Extension Director.
During his time in Mio, he helped institute the Great Lakes Forestry Exposition, and helped establish the Kirtland Warbler as an endangered species. He then moved on to Kalkaska County as County Extension Director and then moved finally to Eaton County, first as Agricultural Agent, and then County Extension Director, where he worked with the development of no-till farming. He retired in 1980 and took up farming fruits and vegetables just outside of Charlotte.
He worked with his family, especially with his son Randy to run the farm and had finally retired to advisory status. He had a great love of learning and his family, and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His humor, his insight and his strong love and support will be sorely missed by his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Hazel Alice (Bush); sisters, Jessie (Wayne) Moore and Elsie (Henry) Wright.
He is survived by his five children; Warren Jay Cook, Jr. (Coco) of Kalamazoo, Denise (Ben) Bartlett of Chatham, Randy Cook of Charlotte, Rod (Carol) Cook of Olympia, WA, and Cindy (Bill) Straus of DeWitt; seven grandchildren Barb (Brian) Dartt DVM of Charlotte, Bridgette (Brent) Voisinet of Laingsburg, Benjamin (Jennifer) Bartlett of Cheboygan, Peter Cook of Kalamazoo, Rachel Cook of Seattle WA, Jay Cook of New York, NY, Davis Straus of DeWitt; and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Adeline (Burton) Griner of Traverse City and Faye Bradshaw of Traverse City.
Memorial services were held July 14, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Dr. James Troust officiating. Interment was at the Grant Township Methodist Church Cemetery.

Glenda S. Cooper
Glenda S. Cooper of Springport went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 23, 2007 under the loving care of her family and Visiting Nurse Services of Michigan Hospice. Glenda was born on September 17, 1947. Glenda is survived by Alton, her husband of 43 years; daughter, Theresa (John) Bennett of Fowlerville; son, Randy (Angie) Cooper of Eaton Rapids; nine grandchildren; brother, Michael (Sue) Robertson of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. Glenda was an active member of the Capitol City Baptist Church Deaf Ministry and was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She cherished her home and family and committed her life to their care. She loved the the outdoors, gardening, tending her lawn and flower beds, camping and walking in the woods. God blessed her family with an angel, and we now release her back into the arms of her loving Savior. We are not saying goodbye, but see you soon when Jesus returns to take His children home to Heaven. God bless her sweet spirit. She will always be in our hearts with golden memories of times gone by.
“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Giver her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Rest now, my love, in the arms of Jesus until we meet again.
A memorial service will be conducted for family and friends at the Capitol City Baptist church Deaf Chapel, 5100 Willoughby, Holt, Michigan on Saturday, June 30th at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Erwin Robertson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Glenda’s memory to the Capitol City Baptist Church Deaf Chapel.
