Bess M. (Tran) Crandall

Bess M. (Tran) Crandall, 83, of Charlotte died Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Eaton Rapids Medical Center.

Mrs. Crandall was born Jan. 13, 1924 in Ann Arbor and had been a Charlotte resident since 1951 coming from Eaton Rapids. She was a graduate of DeWitt High School and had served in the U. S. Army during W.W.II. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and it's Elizabeth Guild. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends at Kiwanis Manor.

Surviving are three daughters, Diane (Ken) Stults of Charlotte, Carol (Ken) Hamilton of Charlotte and Sharon (Allan) Dimitroff of Haslett; one son, Bruce (Diana) Crandall of Broad Run, Va.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and dear friend, Richard "Dick" Misener.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; grandson, Daron; sister, Velma Kelly and brother, Lyle Tran.

Memorial services were held Friday, Dec. 14 at the First Lutheran Church, Charlotte with Pastor Timothy Olson officiating. Memorial contributions may go to the First Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte.

Douglas L. Crandall

Douglas L. Crandall loving husband of Leona; father of Suzanne (Bill), Timothy (Leslye), Tod (Susan) & Phyllis; 7 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on October 15, 2007. All services at Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary. Entombment to follow, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Arthur J. Creller

Arthur J. Creller, 77, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007. Mr. Creller was born July 1, 1929 in Lansing, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Burkett) Creller.

Mr. Creller was an employee of AE Hoover before retiring. He enjoyed gardening and canning the things he grew. Mr. Creller loved his family, one of his favorite things were going to his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Arliss; daughter, Phyllis (Lawrence) Stevens of Bellevue; daughter, Nancy Chupp (Kyle Odette) of Bellevue; son, Steven (Lisa) Creller of Bellevue; grandchildren; Tracy Stevens (Eric Loveland), Tara Creller (Derrick Stanton), Arthur Chupp, Henry Chupp, Steven T. Creller, Austin Creller and Holden Creller; great-grandchildren; Lexy Loveland, Cole Creller-Joppie, Emilie Loveland, Ayden Stanton; and sister, Betty McLane.

Funeral services were Feb. 3 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Bryce Feighner officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo Township.

Leon L. Crippen

Leon L. Crippen, age 70 of Eaton Rapids died Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. Born January 15, 1937 in Williamston one of nine children born to Wayne M. and Olive (LaRowe) Crippen Sr. Leon retired from Maintenance after 33 years of service with FASCO, formerly Eaton Stamping, in Eaton Rapids. After retirement Leon moved north to live with his brother, Lester, and together they won several trophies for their involvement in garden tractor pulls. Leon was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Caroline Allen and Nancy Crippen.

Surviving are his son, Benjamin Crippen of Albion; 2 grandchildren, McKenzie and Maison Crippen; 6 brothers and sisters, Gordon (Marge) Crippen, Lloyd (Merna) Crippen, Joyce Love, Eunice Frost, Lester Crippen and Wayne (Kathleen) Crippen Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held December 14th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Stephen link officiating. Burial took place at the Plains Cemetery in Aurelius Township. Family suggest memorial contributions to be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Leon L. Crippen.

Francis L. Crocker

Francis L. Crocker, 75, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at home. He was born Oct. 3, 1931 in Boston, Mass.

Francis served in the U.S. Air Force, 753rd AC & W Squadron from November 1950 until November of 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He earned a Bachelor's degree in economics from Michigan State University and worked as an independent insurance agent until retiring in 1996. Francis married Alice B. O'Connor Aug. 1, 1953 in Sault Saint Marie. She survives. Francis was a member of the Bellevue Lions Club, the Bellevue Conservation Club, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion and a member of the MSU Alumni Association.

He enjoyed wildlife, yard work, hunting, traveling and especially spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Olive Lamb; and son, Jeffrey Michael Crocker.

Also surviving are daughters, Debra (Ronald) Clift of Bellevue, Cheryl (Lawrence) Butkus of Grand Ledge; son, Stephen Crocker (Tina Little) of Lansing; grandchildren, Dr. Camy (Andrew) Chapin, Michael Clift, Courtney Clift, Jeffrey Butkus and Ryan Butkus.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Jan. 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley, officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue. Memorial donations may be made to Eaton Community Hospice or the Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.

Ronald L. Crosby

Ronald L. Crosby, 64, of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday Nov. 18 in Lansing. Ron was born May 1, 1943 in Lansing, son of Milo Emmerson and Rosaline Caroline (LaFever) Crosby.

Ron was retired from the Olofsson Corporation in Lansing after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Onondaga VFW Post #6986, the Eaton Rapids Conservation Club and the NRA. Ron especially enjoyed his association with the Mid Michigan Streetrod Association.

Ron was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lee Crosby, Jr. and two brothers, Donnie and Dennis Crosby.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 44 years, Paulette (Jones) Crosby; daughter, Michelle Marie (David) Crosby-Wood of Eaton Rapids; son, Milo John Crosby of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Mathew (Rachael), Michael (Sarah), Ronnie and Taylor Wood, Jessica, Randy and Shelby Crosby; great grandson, Cameron Wood; sister, Cherilyn (Kevin) Kleinau of Howell; brother, Randy (Tina) Crosby of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews, including his nephew Tommy Henderson, whom he thought of as a son, and his two furry best friends, Toro and Rosie. A special thank you to Dr. VanDerJagt and the staff at Ingham Medical C.I.C.U.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 21 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Delta Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Association in memory of Ronald Crosby.

Howard Cross

Howard "J" Cross, 87, of Potterville, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007. Mr. Cross was born July 8, 1920 in Stanton, Michigan, the son of Orla and Alta (Comden) Cross.

Mr. Cross worked for General Motors for 30 years as a foreman. He was a member of the Potterville United Methodist Church and the Lions Club. Mr. Cross enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, fishing trips to Canada and traveling throughout the Bahamas, Canada and Mexico. He had farmed for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila in 2000; brother, Theo Cross; and sister, Loreen Novesky.

He is survived by his sons, Richard (Nancy) Cross of Mears and Ronald (Connie) Cross of Modesto, CA; five grandchildren, Mike (Michelle) Cross, Tina (Mike) Walker, Kimberly Willis, Jennifer (Sam) Langpaap and Dena (Bryce) Colan; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Cross and Earl (Betty) Cross; sister-in-law, Barbara Cross; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Reverend Becky Morrison officiating. Interment was at Deepdale Cemetery, Lansing.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.

Dennis Csondor

Dennis E. Csondor, 59, of Eaton Rapids, died Monday June 25, 2007 in Eaton Rapids. Dennis was born July 29, 1947 in Detroit.

He was a member of the Eaton Rapids Masonic Lodge #63 F&AM, Brookfield OES #352, Eaton County Shriner Club (Treasurer of the “Mini 50’s”), Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, RAM of Michigan, Charlotte Comandery #37 K.T. and Saladin Temple Unit Council Grand Rapids. Dennis was a HAM radio operator (WA8AFV) and retired as a Professor of Avionics at Lansing Community College and a former pilot.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Edward Csondor.

He is survived by his son, Andrew Csondor of Lansing; mother, Mary Csondor of Eaton Rapids and fiancée, Nancy Eedy of Potterville.

There will be no services.

Dean Cummings

Dean Thomas Cummings, 50, of Lansing, formerly of Charlotte, died Aug. 30, 2007. Dean was born Feb. 23, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas Cummings and Barbara Cummings of Whitesboro, Texas. He is survived by his mother, his sons; Brent and Christ (Summer); grandson, Aiden; brother, Don (Denise) of Olivet; sisters, Debbie (Don) Trout of Whitesboro, Texas, and Diane (James) Dunn of Centerville, Texas; nephews, Dereck (Erin) and Thomas (fiancé Donna Cripe) Cummings, Robbe Trout, JT Mitchell; and niece Coty Mitchell; and grandnephew, Hunter Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and stillborn daughter, Lindsey Rae. Dean loved to be outside, whether cutting wood, camping, with his farming buddies. He followed the Nascar races, the Tigers and MSU teams, loved to play Euchre and Poker. He was a hard worker, plowing snow in winter, mowing the grass in the summer and kept a house so clean you could eat off his floor. He took great pride in being a recovered Alcoholic with the AA program and helped chair meetings. Dean was very proud of his sons and grandson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Kathy Smith officiating. Interment was in Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.

Mary Current

Mary Celine Current, 77, of Charlotte, died Nov. 17, 2007. Mary was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Detroit, the daughter of James and Catherine (Graham) Scanlan.

As a homemaker, she raised her children with love and as they grew to adulthood she continued to receive great joy from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Current; sons, Robert (Beverly) Current of Vernon, VT, William (Cindy) Current of Johannesburg, and Jerry (Kathy) Current of Pasadena, CA; daughters, Ann (Jeff) Arnett of Hastings, Donna (Fred) Miller of Gregory, and Barbara (Rick) Platzer of Olivet; 33 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Irene Wheeler of Livonia.

Funeral services were held Nov. 20, 2007, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Fr. Francisco Radecki officiating. Interment was in Bosworth Cemetery in Walton Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Women's Center, Chicago.
