Susan Dormer
Susan Dormer, 65, of Vermontville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Mrs. Dormer was born in Detroit on Aug. 9, 1942, the daughter of Howard and Iris (LeMunyon) Snook.
She was raised in the Hillsdale and Colon, Michigan areas and attended area schools there graduating from Yale High School in 1960. She was the wife of Mr. Robert Dormer. The couple was married in Coldwater, Michigan on May 19, 1962. The couple lived in the Kalamazoo area until 1975 when they moved to Vermontville where they settled on the family farm.
Susan loved her community and often used her time to volunteer in various capacities throughout the years. She was instrumental in starting the community center in Vicksburg, and volunteered at The United Methodist Churches in Vermontville and Vicksburg even serving as the “Teen Mom” while her children where in the youth groups. She continued giving her time volunteering at Maplewood Elementary as a “Room Mother” in her grandchildren’s classrooms.
Susan was an artist; she loved to express her talents through her paintings and was especially fond of water color painting. She never used existing objects when she painted; she preferred to visualize the picture in her mind then create it on canvas. She also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Her passion, however, was being a grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Susan was a member of the Southwest Michigan Water Color Society in Kalamazoo and the Battle Arts Center.
She was preceded in death by her brother Edward, and her mother.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband Robert; her daughters, Julie (George) Khouri, and Robin (Rick) McKee; her sister, Sally (Larry) Moore; brothers, Patrick (Jane) Snook, James Snook, and Dan (Jackie) Snook; and her father, Howard (Janina) Snook. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Ripley, Christin Hoffman, Chelsea Khouri, and Sydney Khouri.
Funeral Services were held Nov. 13, with Pastor Kathy Smith officiating. Interment followed the funeral service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.
Family requests donations to Eaton Community Hospice or Maple Valley Scholarship Fund.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville.
Judith Trimble Dossin
Judith Trimble Dossin, 60, of Cranbury Township, passed away Saturday at her home. She was born in Eaton Rapids, MI. Mrs. Dossin had been a resident of Cranbury since 1977. She was Chairman of Shade Tree for over 20 years and the Parks and Recreation Commission of Cranbury Township for 28 years. She and her late husband Donald, also started the Truckers Buying Guide magazine. Mrs. Dossin was a member of the Woman’s Club of Cranbury and enjoyed decorating, shopping and traveling.
A loving mother and sister, Judy was dearly loved and will truly be missed. Daughter of the late Maurice and Hortense Trimble, and wife of the late Donald J. Dossin, Jr.
She was a loving mother to David James Dossin, Elizabeth Jean Dossin, and Meredith Jane Dossin and her husband Ryan Townsend. She is also survived by two sisters, Suzanne Trimble Griggs and Nancy Lynn Trimble; a sister-in-law, Tich Livne and family, and a brother-in-law, Walter Dossin.
The Funeral Service will be Wednesday January 10 at the United Methodist Church of Cranbury, 21 North Main St., Cranbury, NJ with Rev. John M. Foster officiating. Colonel Clyde J. Downey, Sr.
Colonel Clyde J. Downey, Sr. (USAF, Ret) 92, died at his home in Bentonville, Va. March 27, 2007.
During his 27 year tenure in the US Air Force, Colonel Downey participated in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Potterville Masonic Lodge #367.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Freda (Spears), formerly of Potterville; children, Claudia Kardian of Bentonville, Va. and Jack Downey of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, Todd, Scott, Trace and Lee and great-grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan and Erin. The family and his dog, Buster, will sorely miss him.
Services were held at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, Va. with Chaplain Lt. Col. Wilton B. Thomas, USAF Ret. officiating. Interment followed at the Culpeper National Cemetery with full military honors.
Joan Doxtader
Joan Irene (Reefman) Doxtader, 55, of Charlotte, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007. Joan was born Oct. 20, 1952 in Charlotte, the daughter of Richard J. and Laura R. (Southward) Reefman and was a lifelong Charlotte resident except for four years that she lived in Texas.
She was a 1971 Graduate of Albion High School, was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, Charlotte Branch, an active bowler, a member of the Charlotte Handicap Program and worked at the Charlotte Eagles Community Dinners.
Surviving are her husband, Bernard Allen Doxtader; three sisters, Rose Melita Ross of Carlisle, OH, Donna May Orem of San Antonio, TX and Dora Louise Roberts of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Jan. 4, 2008 at the Charlotte Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with David Judd, Branch President officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Albion, MI.
Memorial contributions may go to the family.

Reva Drake
Reva Arlene Drake was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2007, after a battle with strokes and Alzheimer's. Reva was born on Aug. 15, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Laura Wood.
Reva was the second child in a family of 11. On June 29, 1940, Reva married Harley D. Drake and they together raised one daughter, Laura Mae. She was employed at Oldsmobile for many years until her retirement and a member of UAW Local #652. She enjoyed going to garage sales, playing cards, fishing and working in her yard.
Reva was preceded in death by her husband Harley; daughter, Laura; brothers, Charles, Bob, Bill, Lou, Butch and sisters Katherine and Lucille.
Reva is survived by her son-in-law, Robert Dunkle of Eaton Rapids; her sisters, Betty Thompson and Treva Drake; her brother, Jack Wood; two granddaughters, Lisa (Stanley) Munn, Jr. of New Sharon, Iowa and Cyndi (Mark) Dawson of Lansing; five great-grandchildren, Jason Dawson, Joshua Dawson, Justin Dawson of Lansing, and Samantha (James) Farnum of New Sharon, IA and Stanley Robert (Kim) Munn of Davenport, IA; two great-great-grandchildren, Alexa Mae Farnum of New Sharon, IA and Sam Michael Munn of Davenport, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Aug. 3, 2007, at the Crossroads United Brethren Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Michael Arnold officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dimondale.

Billy S. Dunlap
Billy S. Dunlap, 78, of Dimondale, died June 12, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Dunlap was born May 3, 1929 in Greenfield, Tenn., a son of Marion and Nina (Stout) Dunlap. An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he owned Dunlap’s Truck
Stop (Dimondale) for 16 years, retired from Motor Wheel with 35 years of service, was a Dart Bank employee for 22 years and belonged to the Coffee Club at Don’s Truck Stop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Bessie; two daughters, Brenda Finch (Ed Gunn) and Barb Duncanson (Michael, deceased); grandchildren, Leroy (Erica) Finch, Anita Finch (Dave White), Diane Bottomley (Jerry Collins), Justin Gunn; great grandchildren, Holly, Codey, Franklin, Damien, Melissa, Ashley, Aiden, Amy, Karlie; brother, Marion (Ruby) Dunlap.
Services were held Saturday at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale, with Pastor Timothy Jackson officiating. Interment with military honors by DeWitt V.F.W. Post 6132 followed at Dimondale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Aaron Amyx, Tom Chapman, Dexter Finch, Leroy Finch, Justin Gunn and Steve Russell. Honorary bearers were Codey Finch and Franklin Ulrich.

Frank J. Dryer
Frank J. Dryer of Lansing, MI, age 66, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Dayton, Ohio. Frank was born August 1, 1941 in Jackson, MI, the son of Allen J. and Mary Evelyn (Howe) Dryer. He retired from Fisher Body and was a member of Local 602. For 17 years Frank was very active at the “GreenHouse” (the Local 602 Substance Abuse Center) which was dedicated to Frank for his loyalty and long house. Preceded in death by his sister, Clara Mae Fillmore; and 4 brothers, Bob, Duane, Richard, and Phillip Dryer.
Frank is survived by his son, Clint Ray Parsons of Lansing; 3 brothers, Harley (Marilyn) Dryer of Clarksville, Bill (Carma) Dryer of Harrison, Melvin (Carol) Dryer of AZ; 5 sisters, Helen Smith of Jackson, Lois (Stan) Allen of AZ, Shirley (Gayle) Parsons of Eaton Rapids, Martha (Tom) Schwalbe of TN, Linda (Allen) Steele of Eaton Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, October 22, 2007 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice in memory of Frank Dryer.
Eldon Dymond
Eldon “Butch” Dymond, 82, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007. Eldon was born Aug. 11, 1924 in Lansing, the son of Alpha E. and Martha Jane (Lutz) Dymond.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who put his family first. He was a Mason and Shriner, a 50-year Kiwanis member and served as Eaton County Commissioner. Mr. Dymond was a drummer for the Starduster’s Orchestra, playing Big Band 40’s era music. He owned and operated the Dymond Egg Farm and was also known for Dymond’s “Super Sweet” Sweet Corn. He was an all around sportsman, hunter and fisherman, enjoyed trapshooting and loved to golf.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis.
He is survived by his wife Chere Dymond; children, Claudia Bartlett, Steven Dymond, both of Charlotte, Matt (Christie) Dymond of Livonia; grandchildren, Joshua Dymond, Lindsay Dymond, Hayley Dymond, Nate (Jessica) Raymond, Leslie (Damian) Wiesenfeld, Quentin Bartlett, Aaron Bartlett and Kayle Bartlett; great-grandchildren, Jayce and Alec Raymond, Reece and Layla Weisenfeld and Justin Michael Dymond.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Crouch officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
