Kenneth Eaves

Kenneth Raymond Eaves, 66, of Deming, NM, formerly of Lansing, went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2007.

He was born August 12, 1940 in Detroit. Kenneth was a graphic artist at All Star Printing Company in Lansing, was a gunsmith, a champion at target pistol shooting and an avid fisherman and hunter. He and his partner developed a special target pistol gun sight which sold in the USA and internationally. Ken had been a resident of Deming for approximately 2 years and was a member of the Deming Moose Lodge No. 2088. He will be greatly missed by his many beloved friends in both Lansing and Deming and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Sue in 1999 and is survived by his parents, Dorothy and Bill Allen of Goshen, IN, formerly of Eaton Rapids; son Nicholas (Tera) K. Eaves of Holt; 2 grandchildren Brooke and Brianna Eaves.

A memorial graveside service will be held on June 9, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.

Leon W. Elston

Leon W. Elston, age 75, of Eaton Rapids died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30, 2007. He was born March 6, 1931 in Delhi Township, the son of Charles and Beulah (Stanley) Elston. Leon was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate, class of 1949 and a veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1995 from General Motors in Electrical Maintenance and was formerly employed with Diamond REO. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Kathy Adams and granddaughter Rebecca Adams in 1982.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Renee; 3 daughters, Deb (Jim) Vincent of Mason, Jane (Steve) Wiborn of Eaton Rapids and Karen (Tim) Perkins of Eaton Rapids; 7 grandchildren; Brandy Wiborn, Jessica (Steve) Dyer, Corey (Carie) Vincent, Scott Vincent, Brooke (Tony) Norton, Danielle Perkins and Myia Perkins, 6 great grandchildren; Madison Norton, McKenna Vincent, Konner Dyer, Kyle Dyer, Stevie Dyer and Landon Dyer, mother, Beulah Leatherbery of Eaton Rapids; 2 brothers, Charles (Mary) Elston of Lansing and Keith (Kathy) Elston of Eaton Rapids; sister-in-law, Theda Busley of Mason and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held February 2, 2007 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Rapids Senior Center, 201 ½ Hall St. Eaton Rapids 48827 in memory of Leon W. Elston.

Larry C. Edwards

Larry C. Edwards, ate 71, died on Saturday, January 6, 2007. He was an Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Cecila and son, Robert Edwards.

Larry is survived by ex-wife and friend, Dawn Edwards, Larry Edwards Jr. (Jennifer) of Eaton Rapids, Kevin Edwards of Florida, George Deroshia of Eaton Rapids, Karen Aleo (Mike) of Tennessee.

Services are today at the VFW Chapel. The family was served by Skinner Funeral Home.

Dale Ellsworth

Dale E. Ellsworth, 76, of Eaton Rapids, passed away May 1, 2007 in Lansing. Dale was born January 13, 1931 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Clyde and Bernice Ellsworth.

He was an Eaton Rapids graduate, Class of 1949, attended Michigan State College and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Dale was very active in the Eaton County 4-H clubs and a leader for many years. He was a recognized member of both the State and National F.F.A. Dale retired from U.S.D.A. Poultry Research Lab in East Lansing in 1991 after 30 years of service. Since retirement, Dale enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, and farming on the same farm he was raised on.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Roberta Gates; brothers, Hall and Door; and two grandchildren, Holli Tyler and Justin M. Ellsworth.

Dale is survived by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne; seven children, Janice (Mark) O’Donnell, Jim (Theresa), Joe (Linda), Judy Bishop, John (Debbie), Jeff (Samantha), and Jill Ellsworth; sister, Mary Gates; sister-in-law, Beverly Ellsworth; very special nephew, David (Patty) Ellsworth; 22 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 4, 2007 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids and interment followed at Springport Cemetery, Springport.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids, in memory of Dale Ellsworth.

Isa May Ellsworth

Isa May (Fickes) Ellsworth, 75, of Lansing, died Nov. 24. Mrs. Ellsworth was born March 29, 1932 in Charlotte, daughter of William and Sarah Fickes.

Isa’s many hobbies included genealogy, crocheting, gardening, and canning. She also took great pride in painting Arthur’s woodworking.

Mrs. Ellsworth was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Jane, Ollie and Clarabell; brothers, William, Owen, George, Richard, Henry, Carl and Forest Fickes.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur; daughters, Ruth (Dennis) Perkins of Bath, Sally May (Doug) McAdams of Lansing, son, David W. Ellsworth of Lansing; brother, Bob Fickes and many cousins.

Funeral services were held Nov. 28 at Calvary Assembly of God in Lansing, with Pastor David Saglimbene officiating. Interment took place at West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Assembly of God. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte;

Carl Emenhiser

Carl E. Emenhiser, 74, of Harrison, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007. He was a retired electrician for the State of Michigan. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.

Landyn Emineth-Wood

Landyn Joseph Emineth-Wood, 24 days, of Charlotte, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Landyn was born on Oct. 9, 2007 in Lansing, the son of Alicia Emineth and Mark Wood.

He is survived by his parents, Alicia Emineth and Mark Wood.

He will be missed by five loving sisters, August Wood, Amber-Mae Wood, Jahanessa Wood, Sara Wood, and Chloee Jo Emineth and by his grandparents, Daniel and Darla Emineth of Charlotte and Mary LaValley of Holt and Matthew Wood of Charlotte. He is also survived by his great grandparents, Paul and Laverne Gress; center, North Dakota; Agnes Emineth, Bismarck, North Dakota; Audrey and Dale Johnson of Charlotte; Bob and Karen Wood, of Charlotte; and Patricia LaValley of Grand Ledge.

Funeral services were held Nov. 6, 2007, at Pray Funeral Home, with Mary Jo Belknapp officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Dale Emmons

Dale Leroy Emmons, 73, of Bellevue, died Feb. 27, 2007 with his sister and friends at his side at Marshall Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born April 25, 1933, the son of LeRoy Emmons and Pearl (Bryans) Emmons in Baltimore Township.

Dale graduated from Bellevue High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 until 1954. He worked as a brick mason at Milburn Davis Construction Company in Bellevue and he also worked at several gas stations in the area as well as Lothamers Market. Dale was a member of the Bellevue Historical Society and volunteered there until his health would not allow it. He loved growing plants both inside and outdoors and he really enjoyed raising birds. At one time he had over 100 birds. He always fed the wild birds year round.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Shirley (Snodderly) Emmons in 1993; his parents; twin brothers, Dwight and Duane Emmons; and stepson, Gary Snodderly.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Dalona Emmons of Michigan, Melissa Roubos of Holland; adopted son, Preston Emmons of Kalamazoo; stepchildren, Connie and John ; grandchildren, Steven, Amber, Ginger and Destiny, all of Allegan and Jessica Mikalah, Rebekah and Victoria, all of Holland; his first wife, Margaret VandeBiezen; his sister, Joyce Miller of Bellevue and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside funeral services were held March 7 at Dowling Cemetery with Chaplain Richard Lee officiating. Memorials may go to a charity of one's choice.

The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.

Kurt Engler

Kurt "Dugan" Engler, 34, of Mason, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 4, 2007 from natural causes. He was born on March 30, 1972 in Rochester to Kurt D. and Ella P. (Weddington) Engler.

Kurt was an officer with the City of Jackson Police Department since April 1999. Dugan loved his family, fishing, hunting, traveling, and the beauty of nature, but above all he cherished his wife and dogs.

He was preceded in death by grandfather, Adolph Engler of Tustin; grandfather and grandmother, Addison and Grace Weddington of West Liberty, Ken.

He is survived by wife, Gina, and would have celebrated seven wonderful years on April 27, 2007. He leaves behind two loving Weimaraners, Willow and Aspen. He is also survived by his grandmother, Milly (Johnson) Engler of Tustin; father and mother, Kurt and Ella Engler of Lewiston; brother, Don (Kathy) Wilson and their children, Stephanie, Christopher, SarahJane, and Daniel of Livermore, Calif.; sister, Milly (Mike) King and their children, Heather and Jonathon of Panama City, Fla.; sister, Sally (Jeff) Shull, their children, Megan, Nicole, Rebecca, and Gretchen of Ada; sister, Ginny (Brad) Widger, their children, Grant and Lauren of New Hudson; sister, Vicky (David) Doubleday, their children, Erin and Richard of Jupiter, Fla.; sister, Shelley (Doug) Palmer, their children, Courtney, Danielle, and Spencer of Freeport; brother, Karl (Julie) Engler, their children, Jack and Grace of Grand Ledge; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Manuel and Angel Alfaro, their children, Leah (god-daughter) and Chris Felzke of Lansing; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Anna Rigg of Holt; sister-in-law, Mary Alfaro of Eaton Rapids; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Margi Alfaro of Eaton Rapids. He also leaves behind myriad friends and coworkers that he cared for deeply.
