Mary Francisco
Mary Jean Francisco, 65, of Eaton Rapids, died June 21, 2007 in Eaton Rapids.
Born in Lansing March 31, 1942, Mary was an underwriter’s assistant for Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company in Lansing and had formerly worked at Akemi Plastics in Eaton Rapids. Mary was a very giving person, always there to help others, and her life revolved around her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Barry Francisco; children, Renee (Craig) Briggs of Eaton Rapids, Grant (Michell) Goodnoe of Springport and Regina Bollin of Marshall; 12 grandchildren, Crystal, Shannon, and Brandan Goodnoe, Ben and Sara Thelsen, Jenna and Justin Briggs, Ashley Curtis, James and Robert Giffen, Jacob Stapleton and Bryant Lautzenheiser; sister, Sandy Lickert of Lansing, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Mary’s life was held June 25 at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Stephen Klink officiating.
Susie Frank
Susie Frank, age 76, of Charlotte, passed away April 15, 2007. Mrs. Frank was born April 7, 1931 in Charlotte, Michigan, the daughter of Ernest Clyde and Elizabeth Irene (Collins) Rathburn.
She was employed by Michigan Magnetics of Vermontville for many years. She also owned and operated Mac's Party Store in Vermontville for eight years with her husband, Forrest (Bud) Frank.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest (Bud) Frank; children, Jay Todd, Dennis Todd, Nancy Townsend, Mike Todd, William Frank; step-son, Steve Frank; and several brothers and sisters
She is survived by children, Rex (Debbie) Todd of Charlotte, Tammie (Dave) Hurt of Lansing, Carol (John) Steele of Katy, Texas; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 29, 2007 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville. Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte.
Kevin D. Freeman
Kevin D. Freeman, 42, of Eaton Rapids died July 12, 2007 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
Mr. Freeman was born in Lansing
April 15, 1965, son of Roger and Joyce (Closson) Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce, in 2001.
Surviving are his wife, Cara; children, Corey (Jennifer) Freeman, Curtis Freeman and Christine Freeman, all of Eaton Rapids; grandson, Dominic Freeman; father, Roger (Kelly) Freeman of Charlotte; sisters, Kim (Dan) Rugg, Kelly Jo Freeman and Faith Freeman, all of Charlotte; brother, Garrett Freeman of Charlotte; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services were held July 16 at Crossroads Church of the United Brethren in Christ in Charlotte with Rev. DeAnn Dobbs officiating. Arrangements were handled by Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken.
Brenda Friar
Brenda Friar, 52, of Charlotte, died May 10, 2007. Brenda was born July 24, 1954 in Lansing, the daughter of Lester and Bonnie (Shance) Wright.
Brenda worked in food services for Charlotte Public Schools and helped on the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester, July 1, 1991.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; daughters, Kimberly (Bo) Ewing and Tiffany (Ken Densmore) Friar; grandchildren, Annabelle Densmore and Kayla Ewing; mother, Bonnie (Linton Warner) Wright; brother, Gary (Patti) Wright; sister, Teresa (Robert) Lea; brother-in-law, Chris (Sharon Kay) Friar; sister-0in-law, Katrina (Jeff) Lyndsay; six nieces and seven nephews.
Funeral services were held May 16 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Marc Livingston officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Sharen Frith
Sharen (Cochrane) Frith, 54, of Vermontville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 18, 2007. Mrs. Frith was born Aug. 23, 1952 in Hastings, a daughter of Robert and Rosemary Cochrane.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Rosemary; her husband, Russell Frith; children, Michael Dixon, Lynette Rider and William Frith; eight grandchildren and the extended families of both her and her husband, Russell.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Special thanks to Eaton Community Hospice for making her final days comfortable.
Mertie M. Frost
Mertie M. Frost, 97, of Grand Ledge passed away Aug. 19, 2007.
Mertie was a graduate of Charlotte High School Class of 1927 and also received a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan and a master's degree from Michigan State. Mertie taught in public schools for 42 years and retired from Grand Ledge Public Schools as the principal of Holbrook Elementary.
Mertie was a member of the Grand Ledge First Congregational UCC, life member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Order of the Eastern Star Life and Gold member Grand Ledge #14, Pilgrim Circle, Charter member of the Michigan Reading Association and also received a Volunteer Leadership award for "outstanding volunteer service" to her community which was a statewide recognition.
Mertie was preceded in death by her sister, Alfa L. Ball and brother, Maynard Frost.
Loving aunt of Phillip (Dana) Ball of Eaton Rapids, Ronald (Barbara) Ball of Gladstone, Loretta Ball of Charlotte, and the late Harwood Ball who passed away in 1993. Also survived by six great-nieces and nephews and eight great-great nieces and nephews.
Services were held Aug. 23 at the Grand Ledge First Congregational United Church of Christ, Grand Ledge with the Reverend Patricia A. Stirling officiating. Interment followed in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements were handled by the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge.
Contributions may be given to the Grand Ledge First Congregational UCC Endowment Fund.
Carol Fulghum
Carol S. Fulghum, 65, of Lansing, died after an eight-year battle with cancer. Carol left us peacefully on Aug. 5, 2007. Mrs. Fulghum was born June 16, 1942, the daughter of Vernon and Gertrude (Newcomb) McCloy.
Mrs. Fulghum worked at the Frontier restaurant and Sammy’s Lounge in Lansing. She was the National Youth Archery Champ at age 15 and enjoyed reading and going to casinos.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Leigh Ann Hall.
She is survived by her companion of 18 years, Dick Randall; daughters, Toni (Rick) Nevins of Charlotte, Sue Fulghum of Charlotte, Sherry Granger of Charlotte and Bobbi (Chris) Putman of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 9, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Duane Royston officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

Lena F. Gambell
Lena F. Gambell, 90, of Charlotte, formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Jan. 15, 2007. Ms. Gambell was born July 21, 1916 in Aurelius Township, Ingham County, the daughter of William and Gayle (Davis) Kendall.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Slentz; and son, Gary Tyler.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Warren of Holt, Karen Johnson of York, Pa. and Debra (Sisco) Cervantes of Charlotte; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 17 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mary Gamble
Mary E. Gamble, 67, of Lansing, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007. Mrs. Gamble was born May 3, 1940 in Charlotte, the daughter of Isaac and Helen (Shaul) Bursley, Sr.
Mrs. Gamble was a country music fan who loved to read books on history and enjoyed western movies. She liked genealogy and working on her family tree. Mrs. Gamble enjoyed her pets and was involved in 4-H when she was younger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Charles Gamble.
She is survived by her daughters, Caroline Gamble of Lansing and Victoria Krulikoski of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother, Isaac (Terri) Bursley, Jr.; sisters, Dorothy Palmer, Barbara Bursley and Doris Andrews.
Funeral services were held Oct. 18, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Crouch officiating. Interment will be at Hastings Township Cemetery.
