William Franklin “Bill” Hoag Sr.
William Franklin “Bill” Hoag Sr., 79, a lifelong resident of Springport, passed away Tuesday, February 20, at his home surrounde4d by his loving family. Bill was born June 9, 1927 to William Alonzo and Velma (Myers) Hoag and was the oldest of their seven sons. Bill graduated from Springport High School in 1944 and went to work for Lonergan’s in Albion. In 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, staying on active duty until the end of WWII and inactive duty until 1953 teaching basic engineering for the U.S. Naval Reserves in Jackson. Bill worked at McGraw-Edison in Albion as the Technical Service Supervisor until 1967 when he left to begin his own business, Hoag Enterprises. Bill served as Clarence Township Trustee from 1974 – 2000. He was a member of the Adams Rockey VFW Post #6056 and a very active member of Springport United Methodist Church. Bill was a real people person who enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and especially music. At home on leave from the Navy on August 29, 1945, he married his sweetheart, Thelma Marie Slone, who survives him. Theirs was a lifetime love, enjoying over 61 years together.
Along with his wife, Bill was blessed with three children; sons William F. (Connie) Hoag Jr. of Springport, Daniel H. (Nancy) Hoag of Clearwater FL and a daughter, Velma Sue “Suzi” (Charles) Merritt, also of Springport. Also grandsons William F. “Billy” (Becky) Hoag III and Charles E. “Chuck” Merritt Jr. of Springport; granddaughters, Wendy L. Hoag of Newport Richey FL, Lori Beth “Steve” Calandro of Eaton Rapids, Jenny Scavelli of Safety Harbor, FL and Carisa Marie (Casey) Rawson of Albion; great grandchildren, Tricia, Katie and Sammy Hoag of Springport, Cole Scavelli, FL, and Jude Rawson; three brothers, Jerry (Kay) Hoag, Richard (Joan) Hoag and Gene (Marion) Hoag, all of Springport; sister-in-law Yvonne Hoag of Lake Odessa and many loving nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Carl, Wayne and John Hoag and father and mother-in-law, Tracy and Sulla Clifton.
A Funeral Service was held February 23, at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, with Pastor Diane Stone officiating. Interment followed at Clarence Center Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Springport United Methodist Church.
Mark Hochstetler
Mark Wayne Hochstetler, 28, died in a car accident and went to be with Jesus on July 2, 2007. He was born June 20, 1979 in Bremen, IN the son of Wilbur and Susie Hochstetler.
He was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Manasses and Amelia (Bockholder) Hochstetler and Jerry and Emma (Eash) Hostetler and step-mother, Mary Ann Hochstetler.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Anna Rose; daughters, Jessica Lynnette, Karla Sharon and Erica Shannon; parents, Wilbur and Susie Hochstetler of Charlotte, MI; brothers, Alan (Sue) Hochstetler of Rome City, IN, James (Alberta) Hochstetler of Charlotte and Marlin (Katherine) Hochstetler of Charlotte; sisters, Judith Ann Hochstetler of Warsaw, IN, Suetta Hochstetler of Nappanee, IN, Emma Jean (Andy) Coblentz of Farwell, MI and Amelia (John) Overholt of Wellman, IA; parents-in-law, Joseph and Laura Overholt; seven sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law and 29 nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held July 5, 2007 at Bowne Mennonite Church in Clarksville with Pastor Lavern Swartz officiating. Interment was at Bowne Mennonite Cemetery in Clarksville.

Isabel Hoge
Isabel M. Hoge, 83, of Charlotte, died Sunday, July 29, 2007. Mrs. Hoge was born Nov. 22, 1923.
She is survived by her son, Craig Hoge of Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Capri and Marie Hoge of Grand Ledge.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Bryan Fred Hollandsworth
Bryan Fred Hollandsworth, born Feb. 16, 1943, passed away April 13 in Englewood, Fla.
He was a resident of Charlotte for 45 years and worked at General Motors.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diane; sons, Eric of Englewood, Fla., David, Northport, Fla.; Geff of Muskegon; grandchildren, Kyle, Chris, Sarah; brother, Wayne Hollandsworth of Florida; sister, Mary Hollandsworth Hewlett of Charlotte; and sister-in-law, Sandra Gonzer of New Baltimore, Mich.
Arrangements were handled by the National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte, Fla.
Harold D. Hollicker
Harold D. Hollicker, age 75 of Eaton Rapids died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. Born January 3, 1932 in Eaton Rapids the son of Vern and Grace (Summers) Hollicker. Harold was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He retired from General Motors Oldsmobile Division as a truck driver and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #652. Harold was a member of the Eaton Raids Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witnesses and was very supportive of local charities, including the Humane Society. Preceding him in death was his father, Vern.
Harold is survived by cousins, Doris Adams, Mary Cluney and Donald Bunnell; close relatives, Denise Adams and June, special friends, Shirley Smith, Julia Gentile, Sally Taylor, Janette Sibley and Richard Gulliver.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 5th at 11:00 a.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. Stephen Klink, officiating. Burial followed with Military Honors at the Tompkins Cemetery in Tompkins Center. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Harold D. Hollicker.
Harold “Harry” C. Holt
Harold “Harry” C. Holt, age 74 of Dimondale and formerly of Shelbyville, TN died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at his residence following a terminal illness. Born October 15, 1932 in Medford, MA the son of Robert and Velma (Bedell) Holt. Mr. Holt served 10 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he spent 5 years in the restaurant business in California, and retired after 28 years of service with American Airlines. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Shirley.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Marciniak-Holt of Dimondale; 4 sons, Randy (Sandy) Holt of Kiefer, OK, Jeff (Betty Jean) Holt of Anchorage, AK, Brian (Anna) Holt of Floresville, TX and Robin Holt of Shelbyville, TN; daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Marcoulier of Shelbyville, TN; 6 step-children, Carol (Jim) Miller, Mary (Steve) Groves, Annette Cyphert, Sal Marciniak, Lori (Claude) Saynes and Vivian (Everett) Hillard; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with grandson Rev. Brian Marcoulier, officiating. Family suggests for those desiring memorial gifts may be made to the Hospice Advantage at 801 S. Waverly Rd. Lansing, MI in memory of Harold C. Holt.
Merlin Holton Jr.
Merlin J. Holton, Jr., 79, of Mesick, died Aug. 3, 2007 at Munson Hospital in Traverse City. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hall in Charlotte.
Henry Hoort
Henry H. Hoort, Jr., of Lake Odessa, went to be with his Lord Wednesday June 13, 2007 in Ionia, MI at the age of 89. Henry was born September 17, 1917 in Ogilvie, MN, to Henry and Grace (Minnema) Hoort.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ethel, daughter-in-law Sharon Hoort, great grandson, Travis, Levi Hoort, sister, Alice, brother, Louis, August, Joe, Allard, Tuny and Anton.
Surviving are his children, Sandra (Richard) Heyboer of Portland, Larry and Gerri Hoort of Sunfield, Randy of Lake Odessa; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; brother, Calvin Hoor; brother-in-law, Edward Botts of Grand Rapids.
Funeral services were held June 18, 2007 at the LeValley United Methodist Church in Ionia, MI with Rev. Peter Adams of the Grace United Reformed Church in Alto officiated.

Ethan Hoover
Ethan L. Hoover, 2 1/2 months, died April 9, 2007. Ethan was the infant son of Justin Hoover and Tabitha Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Karl Hoover, Sr., Bruce Rasmussen, Sr. and great grandmother, Gwenda Powers.
He is survived by his parents; sister, Mollie Hoover; grandparents; Trudy and David Hummel and Natalie and Don Brocieus; great grand parents, Richard Powers, Carol and Ed Akin and Robert and Emily Rasmussen; many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
A funeral service was held on April 14, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Scott Brood officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery.
