Ray Rondald Hutchings
Ray Ronald Hutchings, age 64 passed away on July 31, 2007. He was born July 6, 1943 in Eaton Rapids and graduated there in 1961. Ray was a member of the Marine Rescues from 1961-1966. In his younger days Ray enjoyed playing pool at Pick’s Pool Hall in Eaton Rapids. He also enjoyed fishing, socializing, attending auctions, riding motorcycles, drawing, solving crossword puzzles and traveling. Some of Ray’s numerous occupations included: meat cutter, working for Warner-Swazy, John Bean and Century 21. He was a driver for Michigan National Bank and for Neighbor Care Pharmacy in Lansing. He also owned and operated a camp ground in Ludington, MI. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Hattie Hutchings who were known in the Eaton Rapids community for their future business (Hutchings Furniture Co.).
Ray was a very gentle and caring individual who will be missed greatly by his family: sister, Beverly Hutchings, nieces Julie (Eugene) Sharp and Tami (Steve) Senger; great nephew, Phil Sharp; great nieces, Jessica Sharp and Alyssa Senger, as well as many friends from school, work and fellow neighbors.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday August 19th at 2 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
James R. Isham
James R. Isham of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Leslie, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the age of 56.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lisa, five children, Sarah Isham, Ellen (Chad) Ankney, Paul Orta, Melissa Orta, and Maria Orta, three grandchildren, Ethan Brodberg, Emily Hicks, Alex Ankney, mother, Noreen Isham, three brothers, Gene (Peggy), Russ (Char) and Dan (JoAnn) Isham, five sisters, Martha (Roger) Ott, Kathy (Fritz) Whitman, Ruth Thibault, Esther (Richard) Wilson, Becky (Ted) Sawyer, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie, and brother-in-law, David Thibault. Jim worked at Len Industry for 27 years, and was a member of the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church.
A service celebrating Jim’s life was held at the Eaton Rapids Wesleyan Church on January 26, 2007 with Pastor Frank Klassen officiating. Interment followed at Walker Cemetery. For those how wish memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon’s or to the family.
Darren Ives
Darren Patrick Ives, 40, of El Cajon, Calif. died Monday, April 2, 2007 after a 20-year coma that was brought on by injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Mr. Ives was born April 4, 1966 the son of Michael and Lynda Ives.
Darren served in the Marine Corp. Reserve at Marine Corp. Air Station Miramar, CA.
He is survived by his mother, Lynda Ives of El Cajon, CA; father, Michael Ives of Lansing; brother, Shane Ives; sister, Kimberley Ives; brother, Jason Ives all of CA; grandparents, Jack (Betty) Johnson of Charlotte; and grandmother, Phyllis Ives of Lansing.
The Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. April 10 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

LaDonna Ives
LaDonna M. Ives, 85, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007. Mrs. Ives was born Sept. 3, 1922 in Eaton County, the daughter of Elmer and Luella (Schaffer) Stacey.
Mrs. Ives was very involved in her community, she was a part of the Northside Mothers Club, an active member of Lawrence Avenue Methodist Church as a member and in the Women’s Auxiliary, a Campfire Leader, she was on the Butternut Creek Residence Council, a member of the American Business Women’s Association and a part of the Charlotte Business Women’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred “Bill” Ives.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Charles) Porter of Mecosta, MI and Janice Miller of Mason; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Herbert (Gladys) Stacey.
Funeral services were held Nov. 15, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Reverend Karen Wheat officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, MI. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church Bus Fund or the American Cancer Society.

James Houston Ivey III
James Houston Ivey III of East Lansing, MI, age 70, died April 16, 2007. He was born August 9, 1936 in Troy, AL to James H. Ivey, Jr. and Ida Glover Cross. Jim was my lover, best friend, comforter in times of trouble. He was a true intellect and gentleman. He was respected by all who knew him for his integrity, compassion and humor. He enjoyed reading and swimming.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Joena; daughters, Elizabeth Bland Ivey Piper, Kimberly Jean Ivey, Adrienne Simone Ivey; sons, James Houston Ivey IV; step-daughter, Philena Beth Foote Norton; step-son, Richard John Smith; grandchildren, Joshua Ivey, Ashleigh Hampton, Courtney Ivey, Katelyn Ivey and Matthew John Norton; sister, Mary Jean Simmons.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 20, at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing with the Rev. Albert Simmons, officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to their favorite charity in memory of Mr. Ivey.
Marion Louise Jackson
Marion Louise (Charboneau) Jackson, born August 4, 1940 in Centerline, MI died May 22, 2007 in Charlotte, at the home of her sister after a brave fight with scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension.
Marion moved to Fairbanks, AK in 1968 and worked for the Culinary Union in several restaurants and bars. She met her husband and best friend, Jack Jackson, in 1972. They married and moved from Fairbanks, AK to Central, AK in 1976, where they lived until Jack died in 1997. Marion moved back to Fairbanks shortly after that time to be closer to friends and family after spending a winter in Cheboygan with her sister, Carol Soumis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jackson; her parents, Leon, Lillian and Toni (step-mother) Charboneau; brother, Donald Charboneau; sister, Carol Soumis; and brother-in-law, Dennis Hawkes.
She is survived by brothers, Harvey (Delores) and Ralph (Sherran) Charboneau, both of Cheboygan; sisters, Gayle Hawkes of Cheboygan and Janice (Gary) Shall of Charlotte; step-son, Kirk (Thursha) Jackson of Fairbanks, AK; step-daughter, Kim Steiks of Ninnilchek, AK; three grandsons, Garrett and Jake Jackson and Ian McArdle; and she was the favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Janousek
Ruth Ione Janousek, 96, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007. Mrs. Janousek was born Aug. 7, 1911 in Vermontville, the daughter of Fred and Esther (Cairns) Briggs.
Ruth grew up in the Vermontville area and married Austin Janousek Feb. 17, 1934. Together they owned and operated Janousekís Service Station in Vermontville. Mrs. Janousek was one of the founders of the Maple Valley Riding Club in the mid-forties. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. Mrs. Janousek was a member of the Dirty Dozen Card Club and her neighborhood Birthday Club. Following the death of her husband in 1965, Ruth went to work for the State of Michigan, Income Tax Division until her retirement in 1976.
She was preceded in death her husband Austin and two sons, Douglas and Darrell.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosella "Suzie" (Larry) Schulze, Dawn Jones, Darlene (Stanley) Hosey; son, Terry Janousek; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Oct. 13, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Charles Jenson officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.

Leona Jobin
Leona (Sigler) Jobin, 98, formerly of River Rouge, passed away on Dec. 14.
Leona was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Jobin, the loving mother of Eleanor (the late Dewain Vallie, Sr.), Bernadette (James) and the late Dorothy and Raymond.
Also surviving are Reg Smith, Doris Jobin, 23 grandchildren and their children.

Josephine Johnson
Josephine "Jo" Johnson, of Charlotte, passed away quietly on April 26, 2007, shortly after celebrating her 100th birthday with her family. Born the second daughter of Lew and Alice Richard in Grand Ledge, Michigan on March 14, 1907.
Josephine attended Grand Ledge schools and Albion College where she met her husband, Darrel E. Johnson. They were married in 1929 and settled in Charlotte, carrying on the family business, L. L. Johnson Lumber Mfg. Co., a hardwood lumber manufacturing and distribution company that continues to operate today under family direction. She was always civically active, as a Cub Scout leader, volunteered for the American Red Cross, American Cancer society, member of the Charlotte Women's Club (GFWC), Eaton County Historical Society, Olivet College Auxiliary Board, Michigan Week committee, and The First Congregational Church, receiving many recognitions for her leadership roles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel E. Johnson, a brother and two sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Richard D. (Donna) Johnson, Robert W. (Marian) Johnson and Edward L. (Ingrid) Johnson; eleven grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. April 28, 2007 at the First Congregational Church UCC in Charlotte with Rev. Philip Hobson officiating. Interment in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
