Everil “Peg” Michel
Everil “Peg” Michel, 99, of Charlotte, died Monday Dec. 17. Mrs. Michel was born Dec. 6, 1908 in Trevor, Wis., the daughter of Wayne and Lillian (Frank) Bush.
Mrs. Michel was a homemaker who was a member of the First Congregational Church where she was involved in the Mary & Martha Circle. She was an honorary member of the Charlotte Women’s Club for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Charlotte Country Club and Child Study Club. She received numerous community service awards where she served in several positions as an officer. Mrs. Michel loved to go shopping in New York and would enjoy eating out where she would eat a “little” dinner so she would have plenty of room for “chocolate desserts.” Some of the most enjoyable moments of her life were spending summer visits with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Wendell of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Genie Michel; grandchildren, David Wendell, John Wendell, Carol Kostyshyn, Paul Wendell, Peter Wendell and Laura Wendell-Henn; three great grandchildren, Mira Kostyshyn, Julia and Jacob Henn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Sr. in 1991; sons, Julius, Jr. and Philip.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Charlotte Congregational Church, Charlotte. Interment will be at the Olivet Cemetery in Olivet. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Stanley Mikesell
Stanley Bruce Mikesell, of Portland, passed away April 26, 2007 at his residence in Portland at the age of 73. He was born January 25, 1934 in Lansing, the son of Junior Eugene and Annie (Burgess) Mikesell.
Stanley graduated high school in Grand Ledge in 1951. On December 3, 1955 he married Betty Jane Mosher. He served in the U.S. Army, 1956-1958 and was honorably discharged. Was Self-employed with a Milk Route, 1958-1964, retired as a City Driver for ANR Truck Lines in 1993 after 30 years.
Stanley took pride in his kids, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching sporting events that involved his grandchildren. He took pride in his lawn, vehicles, and going to the casino. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, which he loved to share.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, and a sister, Dorothy (Mikesell) Catey.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Jane, children, Karen (Ryan) Morris, Katherine Mikesell and fiancé Dennis Yacks, Terry (Connie) Mikesell, Tim (Karen) Mikesell, and Kris Rinckey and fiancé Kurt Scheurer, grandchildren, Daniel and Patrick Morris, Zach Danneels, James Heiler and Travis Mikesell, Chelsea and Garrett Mikesell, and Tyler Rinckey, siblings, Annie Miriam (Andy) McLean, Richard (Kathy) Mikesell, Brother-in-law, John Catey, many loving nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
There will be no services.

Billy Miller
Billy Dean Miller, 63, of Charlotte, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Mr. Miller was born Feb. 18, 1944 in Watervliet, MI, the son of Thomas A.D. and Dorothy (Harrison) Miller.
Billy Miller was an employee at Peckham Industries for the past 10 years.
He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy Miller; sisters, Gwenda Powers, Nina Miller and brothers, Gary and Wilbur Miller.
He is survived by his sister, Deborah Cheeseman of Charlotte; brother, Russell T. Miller of Battle Creek; twin sister, Norma Jean Hathaway of Potterville; and brother, Vernon Ray Miller of Charlotte.
Funeral services were held Nov. 6, 2007 at Pray Funeral Home with Chuck Jenson officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery in Charlotte.

David Miller
David E. Miller, 64, of Charlotte, died Sunday morning, March 11, 2007 at a Lansing hospital. Mr. Miller was born April 6, 1942 in Ionia, a son of August and Isabelle (McBrayne) Miller.
He was an Army veteran of Viet Nam, retired G.M. employee, was a member of the U.A.W. #602 and the Ionia Moose Lodge. Mr. Miller loved bowling, golf, fishing and enjoyed driving the local Amish community on various trips.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Emory Miller; his father, August Miller; and two brothers, Douglas and Gordon Miller.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; two sons, Steven of Vermontville and his special friend, Hannah Pierce and her children, Marrisa and Kolten Pierce; Scott of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Garrett and Bryce Miller; mother, Isabelle Tyson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Herman (Mickey) Miller of Jacksonville, Fla., Fred (Sharleen) Miller of Ionia and Lawrence (Virginia) Miller of Griffen, Ga.; two half-sisters, Donna Miller and Joyce (Tim) Bolema, both of Muskegon; two half-brothers, August (Targa) Miller of Eaton Rapids and Robert (Lisa) Miller of Fruitport; a step-sister, Alberta (Mike) Leary of Ionia; two step-brothers, Glenn (Ann) Tyson of Belding and Orin (Davee) Tyson of Lansing; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 14 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Pastor Judy Scholten officiating. Military honors were provided at Meadowbrook Cemetery by the Michigan National Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to his son's (Scott's) college fund.
David Miller Jr.
David B. Miller Jr., born April 22, 1929, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007.
He was a son to Lois and David Miller of Eaton Rapids. He was born on the family farm on Canfield Road in Eaton County. He attended school at the Brickyard School House in Eaton County. A bit later he married Beverly Scott (later divorced). They built a home next to his mom and started a family, having eight children, 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He worked mostly as a truck driver delivering sand, gravel and concrete for many years, He was also known to have a laid a block or two and placed some concrete in his day.
He enjoyed a cold Drewrys from time to time and the rich robust taste of a Lucky Strike. Dad will be missed but never forgotten by all that knew him. Farewell for now, breathe easy my friend. We will see you soon. Love always, your entire family.
Feleniece Miller
Feleniece E. Miller, 91, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Mrs. Miller was born Jan. 6, 1916 in Jackson County, the daughter of Burr and Ruth (Gamble) Wood.
Her house always smelled of fresh baked food and she was named "Homemaker Of The Year" in 1978. Mrs. Miller was the home economics caseworker for the Eaton County Extension Office. She also taught cooking and sewing in 4-H and belonged to the Charlotte Jaycees, Southside Mother's Club and Laugh Alot Club. She also enjoyed cards, campfires, mushroom and deer hunting and was most proud of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley; son, Murl; granddaughter, Sue Ann Miller; sisters, Phyllis Richardson, Oral Pruden and Noveda Jones; brothers, Leon and Lewis Wood; and son-in-law, Carl Spencer.
She is survived by daughters, Karlene Spencer of Marion, Ind., Julene (Clarence) Humphrey and Leora (Michael) Doty of Charlotte, Cindy (Bill) Russell of Eaton Rapids; son, Dudley (Jody) Miller of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Sharon (Lewis) Miller-Young of Charlotte; sisters, Joan (Barton) Jones and Genevieve Eno, both of Charlotte; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. March 24 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Mitterling officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton County Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Henry Miller
Henry J.L. "Jim" Miller, 88, of Battle Creek, died Friday morning, Dec. 28, 2007, at Battle Creek Health Systems, following a brief illness. Jim was born on Sept. 7, 1919 in Brookfield, Michigan and was the son of Bolton and Clara (Lewis) Miller.
He retired in 1980 from Eaton Corporation as a machine repairman after 40 years of faithful service. Jim was a member of the Bellevue Christian Center and a former member of the AFL-CIO. He volunteered at the Missions for Bibles in Battle Creek for many years. Jim was active in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed square dancing, woodworking and gardening especially raising violets, but his greatest pride and joy was his family and grandchildren.
On June 28, 1940 in Battle Creek, Jim was united in marriage to the former, Hazel K. "Katie" Bradd, who preceded him in death on July 7, 2000. Jim was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Joyce I. Miller and Jean I. Witmer; a grandson: Martin D. Miller, Jr. and by two sisters, Mary Pugh and Mildred Bolton.
Surviving are two daughters, Joanne I. (Phil) Camp and Jeanette I. (Jerry) Barve, both of Battle Creek; two sons, James A. (Sharlene) Miller of Bellevue, and Martin D. (Charlene) Miller of Battle Creek; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a sister, Florence Miller of Battle Creek.
The funeral service to celebrate Jim's life was held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at the Bellevue Christian Center, 734 W. Capital Avenue, Bellevue with the Rev. Steve Covert, of Lafayette, IN, officiating. Interment followed at Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township.
Memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be made to the Bellevue Christian Center.
Linda Miller
Linda Miller, of Delta Township, passed away Jan. 28, 2007. She was born Jan. 1, 1943 in Pueblo, Colo. to the late Robert L. and Kathleen J. (Wilson) Frank.
She retired as a principal with the Maple Valley School District. Linda was more than a principal and a mom, she was also an artist. For example, Linda was the owner and operator of the Colonial Flower shop in Portland and she truly loved to express herself through painting and artwork. Linda not only painted herself, but wanted to share her love and talents by teaching at Michael's Arts & Crafts in Delta Township, as a licensed art instructor.
She was the beloved mother of Scott (Valerie) of Charlotte, Jeff (Jolene) of Portland, and Steve of Lansing; loving grandmother of Amber, Michaela, Robert, Payge and Gwendolyn; sister of Sharon (Greg) Johnson of Farmington Hills. She is also survived by nephews Matthew and Danny. She also will be missed by her Yorkshire-poodle, Molly.
Memorial services were held Feb. 2 at the Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, Grand Ledge with the Rev. Rick Yancey, officiating.
