Shirley Norton
Shirley Gail (Owen) Norton, 80, of Charlotte, went to be with our Lord on March 11, 2007. Shirley was born April 14, 1926 in Sterling, Ill. the daughter of Martin and Eva Owen.
Shirley was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her two close daughters and their families. She also took pleasure in doing crafts, crossword puzzles, watching her friends play cards and enjoyed the holidays with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Birchard; sons, Allen, Richard and Larry Owen; her mother and father;10 siblings; and two grandchildren, Daniel Kent Williams and Toni Leigh Osman.
Shirley is survived by her children, Gail Williams, Kathleen Jones, Mary Osman, Duane, Bonnie, and Leria; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Beck and a brother, George Owen.
Funeral services were held March 14 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home with Pastor Lester DeGroot presiding. Shirley was laid to rest next to her husband, Birchard, at the West Carmel Township Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Shirley's name at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home.
Charles Novak
Charles Edwin Novak, 80, of Charlotte, passed away April 29, 2007. Mr. Novak was born August 29, 1926, in Brighton, Missouri, the son of Thomas J. and Mary (Kroutil) Novak.
He loved farming and was a long-time farmer in the Charlotte area. He retired from Oldsmobile after 31 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann, in August, 2006.
He is survived by sons, Bruce (Janine) Novak of Brighton and Mark Novak of Charlotte; brother, James (Marie) Francka of Eaton Rapids; sisters, Marie Mullican of Springfield, Missouri, Blanche Kincaid of Portland, Michigan and Helen (Lee) Hart of Carlsbad, California; and sister-in-law, Jean (Ardell) Anderson of Springfield, Missouri.
A funeral service was held May 2 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte with Rev. Father Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment was at Gresham Cemetery in Chester Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Jane O’Dell
Jane O’Dell, 74, of Eaton Rapids formerly of Albion, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Tendercare West in Lansing.
She was born Aug. 25, 1933 in Corning, Ohio, the daughter of Herschel and Edna (Dodson) Wilder.
On June 29, 1952 she married Vernon O’Dell. Jane worked at Corning Glass for several years and also worked at Marchand Enterprises.
She was a member of Faith Assembly of Olivet.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, and daylilies. Jane especially enjoyed her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, daughter Verna Sprouse, son Larry O’Dell, granddaughter Stacy Sprouse, grandson Jeremy O’Dell and granddaughter Melonie O’Dell.
She is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Keith) Banks of Eaton Rapids, three sisters; Jean Wright of Menton, Edna Gemmel of Streetsborough, Ohio and Marleen Cleveland of Kalamazoo, two brothers; Herschel Wilder of Sturgis and Art Wilder of Ariz., one half-sister; Lou Wilder-Uphold of Coldwater, one half-brother; Herbert Wilder of Coldwater, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sept. 28 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, Albion, with Pastor Winford Collins officiating. Interment was at Albion Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Richard Ohm
Richard Thomas Ohm, 66, of Nashville, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at his residence. Richard was born June 23, 1940 in Lansing, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Brennan) Ohm. He had been a carpenter and had worked at Aluminum Extrusions.
He is survived by sons, Aaron Ohm of Nashville, Kevin (Stephanie) Ohm of Battle Creek; granddaughter, Piper Elizabeth Mitchell; brother, Ralph Ohm, and sister-in-law, Diane (Robert) Stoddard of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Mae (King) Ohm in June 2001, and his parents.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at the Nashville Baptist Church, with Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Arrangements were made by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.
Willis Ottinger
Willis “Glenn” Ottinger, 60, of Eaton Rapids, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007.
He owned and operated Colonia Custom Homes. Glenn enjoyed bowling and was a real outdoorsman who loved golfing and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet.
He is survived by his wife Deborah; children, Kelly (Mark) Fenn, Matthew (Janie) Ottinger, Alesha (Michael) Robinson; stepchildren, Kristine Jackson, Jennifer (Gabriel) Urivez, Stephanie Dubias; 14 grandchildren; parents, Willis and Beatrice Ottinger; mother-in-law, Patricia Dunn; sister, Gail (Harry) Mallory; brother, Terry (Paulette) Ottinger; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 12 at Chapel in the Pines Funeral Home. Interment was in East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos.
Jack J. Paquette
Jack Jerome Paquette, 69, of Traverse City, formerly of Eaton Rapids and Wolverine went to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Tendercare in Traverse City. He lived a very courageous life, battling many serious health issues. Jack was the son of Edwin Francis and Leona May (Dillingham) Paquette, born December 23, 1937 in Eaton Rapids. Jack answered the call of duty serving in the United States Mili8tary. He was a long time resident of the Lansing area until relocating to Wolverine, MI where he was a police officer for Tuscarora Township. From a young age Jack had a passion for the outdoors, spending time hunting, trapping and fishing. He continued his enjoyment with nature, camping for many years with his family and more recently traveling in his RV. Jack was a gunsmith and avid gun collector. He had a wonderfully unique sense of humor that has p0assed on through the family. He will be greatly missed.
Jack is survived by his two sons, Ed (Chantel) Paquette of Gaylord, Rich Paquette of Traverse City, his daughter, Shelly (Dave) Guernsey of Traverse City, his former wife, Irene (Royston), his mother, Leona Cadger of Eaton Rapids, a sister, Shirley Johnson of Eaton Rapids, an aunt, Neola Paquette of Petoskey, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several other loving family members and friends and his little dog Peanut. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Edwin and two infant grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on June 24, 2007 at New Hope Community Church with Rev. Tim Manzer officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cherryland Humane Society. The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Lillian Parker
Lillian L. Parker, 82, of Frankfort, died Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Maples in Frankfort. She was born in Chicago, Ill. on Aug. 15, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Lillian (Kojan) Kohler. Lillian married Lloyd N. Parker on Sept. 14, 1942 in Crown Point, IN.
Lillian loved life. She was a caring person, who spent many years as a nurses aide in both the Marshall and Battle Creek hospitals. She enjoyed music, both listening to it and singing. She was an artist and painted beautiful landscapes and living things. Lillian also loved the Lord and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Charlotte, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and did anything she was called upon to do. While Lillian loved many things, what she loved most was her family, spending time with them, and watching the little ones grow into adults.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian Kohler; siblings, Mary Withrow, Margaret Foley, Eddie Foley, Frank Kohler, John Kohler and Evelyn Tollard; son-in-law, Russell Gibbs and Keith Garity; and great-grandsons, Stephen Michael and Ryan Wolfe.
She will be missed by her family, husband, Lloyd Parker; and daughters, Dodie Garity, Linda (David) Wolfe, Marcia (Frank) VanDevelde, and Mary Ellen Gibbs. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandsons, two great-great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Hilda Braatz.
A memorial service to celebrate Lillian's life will be on Aug. 4 at the Charlotte Church of the Nazarene at 11 a.m., with the Reverends Glen Neal and Arthur Salisbury officiating. A pot luck luncheon will follow at Kiwanis Manor. Burial will take place at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

Harold F. “Red” Parkhouse
Harold F. Parkhouse, 63, of Charlotte, passed away Jan. 11 in Eaton Township, Eaton County. He was born in Lansing March 7, 1943, son of Raymond and Erma (Boron) Parkhouse.
Red was a retired tool maker from Oldsmobile serving 33 years and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He served as a volunteer fireman for Portland, was a member of Mid-Michigan Street Rod Association and founded the Riley Elementary School Softball league.
He was predeceased by his parents; granddaughter, Mackenzie Endres; brother, LaVern; and sister, Barbara.
He is surviving by his wife of 35 years, Jan; sons, Brad (Amy) Parkhouse of Portland and Mark Saxton of Lansing; daughters, Cherie Parkhouse of Portland, Lisa Saxton of DeWitt and Robin (Bill) Sheldon of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jacob, Dustin, Joseph, Samantha, Joshua, Matthew and Emma; sister, Joyce (Jim) Ralston of Alger; and brother, Richard Parkhouse of Portland.
Services were held Jan. 15 at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with the Rev. Molly Turner of the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church officiating. Military Honors followed at Wacousta Cemetery.
