Paul D. Piepkow
Paul D. Piepkow, 80, of Olivet died July 15 at his residence.
Paul was born in Clarence Township, Calhoun County, July 2, 1927 the son of Gustav and Minnie (Hammond) Piepkow and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a 1944 graduate of Springport High School and had attended agricultural short courses at Michigan State College. He was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of the Lee Center United Methodist Church, an Olivet State Bank (now Independent Bank) director for 35 years, a member of the Olivet School Board for 18 years having served as president and treasurer, a member and past president of the Olivet Rotary Club, with his wife, Blanche, had been selected as the Outstanding Young Dairy Couple from Michigan in 1958, in 1979 was selected as the Dairyman of the Year by MSU, was a member of the Michigan and American Jersey Cattle Clubs, member of the Dairy Council Committee of MSU, member of the M.A.B.C., member of the Purebred Dairy Cattle Association and was a member of the MSU Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Farmer Home Administration Committee of Calhoun County, the Michigan and Calhoun County Farm Bureaus, has served on the Lee Township Board of Review, was a member of the Springport Euchre Club and had been a member of several softball leagues including the 65 and Over League of Battle Creek.
He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Margaret Schmidt, Dorothy Heisler and Ellen Piepkow; brothers, Gustav Piepkow, Jr. and Daniel Piepkow; and great-grandson, Willee Piepkow.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Blanche (Lake) Piepkow; children, Paul Duane (Dianne) Piepkow, Jr. of Olivet, William (Melanie) Piepkow of Olivet, Thomas (Patricia) Piepkow of Battle Creek, Mary (Joe) Barkley of Olivet and Jayne (Mark) Voss of Olivet; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Heisler of Cleveland, Ohio and brother, Ralph Piepkow of Springport.
Services were held July 18 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Rev. Diane Stone officiating.

Raenee Marie Pierce
Raenee Marie Pierce, age 47 of Jackson and formerly of Eaton Rapids died Sunday, June 17, 2007 at Foote Hospital in Jackson following a long illness. She was born April 12, 1960 in Howell, Michigan the daughter of Robert and Carol (John son) Pierce. Raenee formerly worked in the health care field as a Nurse’s Aid for Jarvis Acres and a convolesant home in Stockbridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Carol; 2 brothers, Brad and Daryl Pierce.
She is survived by her life partner, Larry Stacy of Jackson; daughter, Venus Pierce of Jackson; brother, Rob Pierce of Eaton Rapids and sister, Denise (Darcey) Miller of Springport; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Susan Pifer
Susan M. Pifer, 47, of Charlotte, died Saturday, April 28, 2007. Mrs. Pifer was born Sept. 5, 1959, in Charlotte, the daughter of Robert and Betty Lou (Peters) Brandon.
She was a 15 year employee of Eaton County Treasurer's Office. She was given the nickname "Ruby Sue," a gem that was always helping others. She was active in the "Relay For Life" with the American Cancer Society; her church's Giving Tree, and helping Adult Foster residents. She was the "Family Organizer" as her husband, children and their activities were so very important to her. She really enjoyed bowling, camping, and long walks in the woods.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter Alexis (Brandon) Davis; son Nathan; grandson Aidan (Burks); brothers Charles (Barbara) Brandon and Kevin (Kathy) Brandon; sister Pamela (Gerald) Johnson; Uncle Dick (Marcella) and Aunt Sandy. Funeral services were held May 2 with Rev. Phil Hobson officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery , Charlotte.

Kenneth Ploch
Kenneth M. Ploch, 27, of Potterville, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 in Battle Creek. Ken was born April 7, 1980 in Lansing, the son of Kenneth F. and Patricia Ann (Dravenstatt) Ploch and was a life resident of the Potterville, Charlotte area.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and the great outdoors.
Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Patricia Ploch of Potterville; his son, Austin Michael Ploch; Austin’s mother, Peggy Wells; Austin’s brother, Cody Cripe; two sisters, Kristen (Gary) Bigelow of Holt and Tricia (Andrew) Woodcock of Pontiac, MI; four nephews, Tyler and Ryan Bigelow and Conner and Lincoln Woodcock; grandmothers, Virginia Dravenstatt and Velma F. Ploch both of Potterville; Aunts & Uncles, Fred (Becky) Ploch of Potterville, Nadine LaMotte of Lansing and Ruth (Jeff) Beaver of Albertsville, AL and six cousins.
Funeral services were held Oct. 26, 2007 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Andy Croel and Rev. Tom Peters officiating. Interment was in the Benton Township Cemetery.
Memorials may go to an Educational Fund for his son, Austin Michael Ploch which is being established.

Robert Scott Poe
Robert Scott Poe, 58, of Charlotte, died Friday, March 2, 2007 at his residence. Bob was born June 21, 1948 in Fairmont, W.V. (Winfield Community), a son of the late Francis E. and Rose E. Poe of Fairmont, W.V.
A 1966 honors graduate of East Fairmont High School, he attended Fairmont State College for two years prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas for basic training and was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Fla. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving with the United States Air Force for five years with an Honorable Discharge. He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Plant in Fairmont, W.A. following his military service and then transferred to the Charlotte facility with a combined total of 17 years of service. He also worked at Hayes Green Beach Hospital for ten years as the Director of Material Management. He was an avid fan of both Michigan State University and West Virginia University Athletic teams.
He is survived by three children, daughter, Julie Poe of Charlotte; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Kevin Schroll of Springport; and son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Hope Poe of Waterford; one grandson, Landon Scott Poe of Waterford; one brother and sister-in-law, William M. and Linda Poe of Fairfax, Va.; and one sister, Sharon Conger of Torrington, Conn.; and one niece, Katie Poe of Fairfax, Va.
Cremation services were provided by Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Charlotte. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church in Charlotte.
Keith Popham Jr.
Keith G. Popham Jr., 52, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Keith was born July 27, 1954 in Lansing the son of Keith and Jo Popham Sr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Sr. in 1994.
He is survived by his mother, Jo Popham; daughters, Lanta Jo (Randy) Winn of Kentucky, Annamae Popham and Karie Popham, both of Charlotte; and sister, Sue (Tom) Delgiorno of Bath.
No services will be held.

Ann Porter
Ann J. Porter, 94, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007. Mrs. Porter was born July 21, 1913, in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Gregarek) Jankovich.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and entertaining. She loved animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Porter in 1981 and her brother Joseph.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Plsek of Charlotte; nieces, Carolyn Plsek of Bloomfield Hills and Barbara (Donald) Slider of Noblesville, IN; nephew, Milan Plsek of Trenary.
Funeral services were held Aug. 8, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Charlotte and/or Eaton Community Hospice and/or The Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Doris Pottruff
Doris May Pottruff, 84, of Fountain, passed away on May 22, 2007 at Whippoorwill Knoll in Scottville. Doris was born on May 25, 1922 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Leslie Arthur and Esther Lois (Gibson) Nelson.
She married Donald I. Pottruff on June 10, 1939 in Ionia. Doris was employed by Care Free Products in Charlotte for many years. Doris also owned This-L-Do ceramics shop in Fountain. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and taking care of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son, David Gilbert Pottruff; brother, Jack Nelson; step-sister, Donna Davis; and step-granddaughter, Tina Roscoe.
She is survived by her two daughters, Veralyn (Lloyd) Bailey of Fountain, Lois (Nick) Nieves of Fountain; three sons, Donald A. Pottruff of Wheatridge, CO, John (Carol) Pottruff of Lyons, James Pottruff of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (Allan) Smith of Sheridan; step-sister, Joyce Birch; 1/2 sister, Carolyn Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Doris was held May 25 at Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Ludington with Pastor Norman Lettsinger officiating. Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee and final interment was at Balcom Cemetery in Ionia on May 26.

Lyle Powell
Lyle A. Powell, 88, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007. Mr. Powell was born Nov. 18, 1918 in Tipton, the son of James and Ethel (Benedict) Powell.
Mr. Powell was a car salesman, a lifelong member of the Adrian Lodge and a member of the Masonic Lodge #120 F. &.A.M.. He enjoyed farming and was a people person who always looked at the glass as "half full."
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Elizabeth Powell in 1983.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Russ (Mary Ann) Powell of Eaton Rapids; son, Kim Powell of Ovid; daughter, Katie (John) Alger of Charlotte; son, David (Sandy) Powell of Bellevue, Colo.; son, Jordan (Audrey) Powell of Loveland, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Bernice Bryan of Adrian.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church, Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
