Junior Sundberg
Junior Lee Sundberg, 53, of Schoolcraft and formerly of the Marshall and Olivet areas died, Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. Junior was born on July 15, 1954 in Marshall to Dewey Lee and Phyllis (Lindsey) Sundberg.
He was a graduate of Olivet High School, class of 1972. In his youth, he spent many hours working on his Uncle Cliff's farm.
During his teens he had been employed by Charles Williams at the old C & L Service Station. In 1972, Junior was involved in a debilitating automobile accident.
Junior loved working on cars. He owned a 1966 Chevy that he invested most of his free time as well as his money on.
Following his accident, he found much joy in spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew.
They would spend many hours playing games and cards together.
He loved country music and classic rock and roll. The louder it is was, the better he liked it.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey in 2003.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Sundberg; brothers, John (Diane) Sundberg of Lewiston, Mark (Carla) Sundberg of Marshall, Keith Sundberg of Marshall and Kevin (Cathy) Sundberg of Marshall; numerous nieces and nephews; Aunts, Zella Sundberg and Norma Hindenach, Joyce McPherson and Bobbie Lindsey; Uncles, Richard (Helen) Lindsey and Charles (Ramona) Lindsey.
Private services are being planned for the family at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home.
Donald Sutton
Donald William Sutton, 81, of Portland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007. He was born June 19, 1925 in Charlevoix the son of Clifford and Viva (O'Murphy) Sutton. Donald received his Bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and his Master's degree from Iowa State University. Donald married Ruby (Johnson) in June of 1947. He then spent 30 years in education, 16 of those years in the Charlotte School District. In 1980 Charlotte's high school yearbook was dedicated to Donald Sutton. Don held several degrees - his first was in public safety, where he began teaching driver's education. He received degrees in math and science and was a classroom teacher, a junior high and high school principal and elementary school superintendent. Following his teaching career, Donald was a financial planned for 10 years with IDS/American Express. His final major interest was genealogy. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, sailing and traveling - most often with a pickup camper or trailer. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby in 2005; and his only brother, Floyd; and a grandson, David.
He is survived by his children, Patty (Dave) Snyder of Charlotte, Charles (Patricia) Sutton of Charlotte, Janet (Wendell) Holt of Elwell and Mike (Cheryl) Sutton of Ninilchik, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three first cousins, Helen Johnson of Charlevoix, Pauline Bowman of Grand Haven, and her sister, Eleanor Joslin of Miami, Fla.
Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at the First Baptist Church, Portland with Pastor Steve Taylor presiding. He was buried in the Charlotte Maple Hill Cemetery next to his wife, Ruby and grandson, David. Contributions are being given to youth programs of the Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 129, both in Portland, in Donald's name.
Robert Sutton
Robert H. Sutton, of Mason, age 59, went to be with The Lord on April 15, 2007. Robert was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Lansing, Michigan the son of Hugh and Genevieve (Smith) Sutton.
Bob was very proud of his service to his country. He was active Army for three years, Vietnam Veteran and served in the National Guard for 27 years. Bob retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Bob was a car enthusiast, MG’s specifically. His pride and joy was his 1958 MG that he had for 35 years before it was completely finished. Bob also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, running and fishing. He was past president of Michigan Rowdies, member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #288, All British Car Club and Gold Wing Riders Association. A loving and thoughtful husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend will be dearly missed by all.
Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Gabrielle Sutton; and parents, Hugh and Genevieve Sutton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; children, Brian (Heidi Hiner) Sutton, Jason Sutton, Jared (Jenny) Sutton, Kerry (Steve) McGarry, Kimberly (John Adams) Richardson and Kelly (Matt) Pekru; sisters, Gayle McClelland and Barbara (Raymond) Franks; grandchildren, Skyler Sutton, Kelsey, Sean and Alex McGarry, Kylee and Kasidy Coats, Kendi and Kaydence Richardson, Lewis and Vadis Pekrul. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held April 19, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt/Delhi Chapel, 5035 W. Holt Rd., Holt, MI 48842 with Rev. Fr. David Pike officiating. The family received relatives and friends April 18, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Sparrow Hospital in memory of Bob.
James Robert Swander
James Robert Swander, 60, of Kalamazoo died Friday, Oct. 5. Mr. Swander was born June 19, 1947 in Kalamazoo, the son of James Henry and Barbara (Mitchell) Swander.
Mr. Swander had his own handyman business for many years. He also loved prospecting, fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Henry Swander in 1998.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandy (Roy) Morris of Charlotte; son, Travis (Brenda) Swander of Albion; stepdaughter, Annelies (Eric) Kappler of Indiana; former wife, Connie Swander of Charlotte; mother, Barbara Swander of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Gavyn, Leah and Sydnee Morris and Isaac and Kadin Swander; step- grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Adam, Rebecca and Rachel Gangi and Kathryn, Kailee and Nathaniel Kappler; step-great-granddaughter, Kaylin Gangi; brother, David (Glenda) Swander; sisters, Sharon Rodarmer, Deb (Scott) Taylor and Dawn (Ron) Fisher, all of Kalamazoo.
A memorial service was held Oct. 8 at Kalamazoo Moose Lodge #88 in Portage with Pastor John Fisher officiating.

Ethan Teeple
Ethan Blaine Teeple, 5, of Roanoke, Ind. died at 3:27 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at his home following a battle with cancer. Ethan wanted to be a policeman when he grew up. He played T-Ball and soccer with the Roanoke Youth Sports League. He was a member of Union Church Children’s Ministry. He attended Happy Days Preschool in Roanoke.
Ethan was born on Aug. 2,2002 in Fort Wayne, the son of Gary II and Autumn (Spitzley) Teeple.
Survivors include his parents: Gary II and Autumn Teeple of Roanoke, a brother: Trevor Teeple; grandparents, Marvin and Silver Spitzley of Charlotte, Gary and Joyce Teeple of Decatur; great grandparents, Ernam and Virginia Royston of Charlotte, Robert and Laurine Spitzley of Mulliken and Maurice Teeple of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by two great grandmothers, Mary Teeple, Esther Braun, and a great grandfather, Jerome Braun.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at Union Church with two hours of visitation prior to the service with Pastor Jeff Carroll and Pastor Howard Cherry officiating.
Interment was at the Union Cemetery in Huntington County.

William Lawrence Teller
Surrounded by people who loved him, Bill passed away at home Sept. 27 at the age of 58 after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
Bill graduated from Grand Ledge High School and from Michigan State University. He enlisted and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. Bill retired from the Department of Corrections in 2002.
Always active in his community Bill served on the Village Council, the Sunfield Farmers Picnic Board, the Sunfield Lions Club and was an active member of the Sunfield United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed many years of bicycling, but flying was his passion. At age 50, Bill received his pilot's license and spent many happy hours flying. The true joy of his life was being with his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Jennifer Felton; son-in-law, Dan Felton; and grandchildren, Isabel, Lauren and Noah Felton; parents Maxine and Larry Teller; brother, Rick Teller; sister, Laura (Steve) Sharp; father-in-law, Walter George; brother-in-law, Gary (Sharon) George; many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service was held Oct. 2 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church.

Lucille Tennis
Lucille (Mingus) Tennis, of Steinhatchee, FL: formerly of Vermontville, slipped away peacefully on Sept. 18, just shy of her 104th birthday, at the home she shared with her daughter, Rhoda Moehring, in Steinhatchee, FL.
In her later years, she was loved and nourished by Rhoda's continuous care and Bobbi's active support. All of her children and grandchildren did what they could to show her the love and caring she had always given them. Born on Sept. 23, 1903 in Marcellus, MI, Lucille married her late husband, George Tennis, on July 6, 1935. They raised four children in Charlotte: two daughters, Rhoda Tennis Moehring of Florida, Bobbi Tennis (Jack) Pattison of Virginia; and two sons, Gayland (Jean) Tennis of Bath, and Darrell (Jacky) Tennis of Olivet. George and Lucille owned a farm on North Cochran in Charlotte, where their children were raised, and also owned the North End Grocery in Charlotte. They retired to Vermontville in 1969.
In addition to George, Lucille was preceded in death by her brother, Maynard Mingus; and her son-in-law, William Moehring.
She is survived by her children; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille was a friend to all and dearly loved by everyone who ever knew her. She is now a beautiful angel in heaven watching over all of us. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23 at Pray Funeral Home. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to SIREN/Eaton Shelter, P.O. Box 369, Charlotte, 48813.
Calvin J. TeVelde
Calvin J. TeVelde, 74, of Charlotte, died Thursday, June 14, 2007.
Mr. TeVelde was born in Iowa Sept. 1, 1932 the son of John and Jenny (Schaap) TeVelde. He was an active member of the Charlotte Christian Reformed Church. Mr. TeVelde worked as a Feed Mill Manager for the Eaton Farm Bureau Co-op and served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was an avid bowler since 1969 and had bowled on the Maple View Nursery Team in the Suburban League. Mr. TeVelde played the accordion and was on the slow pitch softball league at his church.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda; son, Thomas (Marcia) TeVelde of Manistique; son Richard (Cindy) TeVelde of Olivet; daughter, Cindy TeVelde of Lansing; son, Joel (Crystal) TeVelde of Nashville; daughter, Amy (Brad) Harris of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Libby (Robert) Lanconi; Joanna (Larry) Visser, Esther Corrin and Jean Smit.
Services were held June 16 at the Charlotte Christian Reformed Church, Charlotte with Pastor Brett McAtee officiating. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Rosemarie Therrien
Rosemarie (Mann) (Kowalk) Therrien, 72 of Charlotte, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at her residence after an extended illness. Rosemarie was born Mar. 27, 1935 in Charlotte, the daughter of Audley and Theresa (Bailey) Mann and had lived most of her life in Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David Kowalk.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Therrien, Sr.; two sons, Douglas K. Kowalk and Dennis Kowalk both of Charlotte; four grandchildren and four brothers, Jack Mann of Charlotte, William Mann of Lansing, Robert Mann of Charlotte and Ronald Mann of Florida.
At Rosemarie’s request, cremation has taken place, no services will be held.
