Thressa S. Thocker
Thressa S. Thocker, 93, of Charlotte, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007. Mrs. Thocker was born March 10, 1913 in Warsaw, Poland the daughter of Alex and Frances Kessler.
Mrs. Thocker was employed as an assembly worker at General Motors.
She is survived by her daughter, Harriet (Peter) Froncezak of Lansing; son, Dennis (Martha Jean) Thocker of Lansing; and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roberta H. Tidd
Roberta H. Tidd, age 93 of Holt, former resident of Homer and Coldwater, Michigan passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at the Courts of Holt, Holt, MI. She was born March 29, 1914 in Hardin County, Ohio to Carl C. and F. Nelle (Ford) Huston. On September 19, 1935 in Ada, Ohio she married Raymond E. Tidd who preceded her in death February 25, 1990. Roberta graduated from Alger Ohio High School in 1932; she attended Ohio Northern University and Western Michigan University. She came to Michigan from Ohio in 1937 and taught school in Homer and Litchfield before taking a teaching position at the Coldwater State Home & Training School. She retired June 28, 1975 after 24 years of service there. Roberta was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, James W. (Shirley) Tidd of Springport, R. “Gene” Eugene (Pat) Tidd of Eaton Rapids; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; a sister, Wilda L. (Frank M.) Mench of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held on June 24, 2007 at the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery, Homer Township, Michigan. Assistance with the memorial contributions for the United Methodist Church of Homer or In-House Hospice Solutions is available at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to the Homer Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels, 303 S. Hillsdale, Homer, MI.
Samuel Tink
Samuel Ira Tink, 36, of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Leslie, passed away Oct. 3, 2007 in Lansing. Sam was born March 17, 1971 in Lansing, the son of Lewis and Judith (Kelley) Tink.
He was a member of the Eaton Rapids United Methodist Church and a former member of Faith United Methodist Church. Sam graduated from Heartwood School, and was a Special Olympian in floor hockey, basketball and Frisbee. He “directed” every marching band, musician or music group he was around.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Barbara Duesterbeck, Ira and Thelma Tink; and several aunts and uncles.
Same is survived by his parents, Judy and Dan Tink of Eaton Rapids; siblings, Steve (Sue) Tink of Battle Creek, Lisa (Steve) Ulman of Eaton Rapids, Laura Rempher of Mason, and Scott (Julie) Tink of FL; one step-brother and three step-sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 6 at the First United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Daniel Hofmann officiating. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Music Department in memory of Sam Tink.
Duane Tirrell
Duane M. Tirrell, 53, of Charlotte, died April 30, 2007. Mr. Tirrell was born Nov. 6, 1953 in Charlotte, the son of Jack and Marian (Gasser) Tirrell.
Duane Michael Tirrell lived on the Centennial Farm that his family has run for 165 years since 1835. He was a member of the Eaton County Planning Commission, a 4-H Sheep Superintendent, former Farm Bureau President of nine years, a member of the Michigan Centennial Farm Association, Vice President of the Forage Council of Michigan, a member of the Charlotte Church of Christ and a board member of the Thornapple Soil Conservation District.
Mr. Tirrell believed that farming was a higher calling providing food and fiber to the rest of the world. He was known for the finest sheep flocks in Michigan and the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association grew under his leadership as he served as Executive Secretary. Mr. Tirrell most recently spent three weeks in Moldova in the Eastern Ukraine on a farmer to farmer foreign exchange program.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Allen in 1988 and brother-in-law, David Sloan in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Ben Tirrell; daughters, Becky and Abby Tirrell; parents, Jack and Marian Tirrell; sister, Colleen Sloan, brother, Keith (Janice) Tirrell and sister-in-law, Kathy Tirrell.
Memorial services were held May 4, 2007 at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor John Bailey officiating. A Shepherd Service was held May 5, 2007 at the Tirrell family farm. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County 4-H Michigan Sheep Breede4rs Association Scholarship Fund.

Robert Towns
Robert “Bob” V. Towns, 87, of Eaton Rapids died Monday, Dec. 3. Bob was born Nov. 9, 1920 in Eaton Rapids, the son of Vern and Pearl (Gruesbeck) Towns.
Bob had formerly worked in the milk business and retired as manager from the Felpausch Food Stores Frozen Food and Dairy Dept. in Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Theo and sisters, Arlene McConnell and Myrtle Colestock.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Shirley (Woodworth) Towns; son, Lynn Towns of Holt and daughter, Marsha (Ken) Nicholas of Eaton Rapids; six grandchildren, Laura (Jeffrey) Spradlin of Kan., Jason (Zoila) Towns of El Salvador, Joshua Towns of Texas, Arin Towns of Michigan, Bethany (Ruben) Pena of Texas and Caryn Nicholas of Michigan; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Stark of Caro and Ruth Tank of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 7 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Rosehill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or the Eaton County Medical Care Facility in memory of Bob Towns.
Alice Travis
Alice M. Travis, 85, of Vermontville, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007. She was born Nov. 28, 1921 in Bellevue, the daughter of Vernard and Harriet (Manzer) Harry.
She was a caring and giving person, a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group, and the Kalamo Historical Society. Her hobbies included camping, flowers, birds, reading, and riding motorcycles.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Jean (Roy G.) Weldon of Albion, and Beverly K (Robert M). Hendershot of Climax; grandchildren, Holly Mathe, Rex and Scott Weldon, and Lori Hendershot; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Travis; sisters, Genevieve Andrews, Gertrude Miller and Madalyn Wilbur.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Pray Funeral Home, with Pastor Bryce Feighner officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, and Eaton Community Hospice.

James Troup
James L. Troup, 72, of Perrinton, passed away Feb. 28, 2007 at his home. He was born Feb. 16, 1935 in Northumberland, Penn., the son of Harrison and Mary (Hanes) Troup.
He married Arielia Ann Baker on Sept. 1, 1956 in Carson City. James served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for General Motors Corp. in Lansing, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a life member of the Mark Daniels VFW Post #1735.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and sisters, Kenneth Troup, George Troup, Grace Troup, Pearl Elizabeth, Elmwood Troup, Harold Troup, and Myrtle Selar.
James is survived by his wife Arielia of Perrinton; two daughters, Teressa (Charles) Thomas of Perrinton and Diane (Louis) Hurrllman of Holt; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also, surviving eight brothers and sisters, Gladys Bruce of Sunbury, Penn., Dorothy Hechler of Northumberland, Penn., John Troup of Northumberland, Penn., Edith Brogan of Milford, Del., Guy (Marie) Troup of Folcroft, Penn., Charles (Francis) Troup of Sunbury, Penn., Walter Troup of Northumberland, Penn., and Parren (Pat) Troup of Northumberland, Penn.
A memorial service and dinner was held March 10, 2007 at the Mark Daniels VFW Post #1735 in Perrinton. The family has requested in lieu of flowers to please make a memorial contribution to the VFW National Children's Home in Eaton Rapids.
Scott Trowbridge
Scott A. Trowbridge, 50, of Hastings, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007. Mr. Trowbridge was born May 4, 1956 in Lansing, the son of Gordon and Ruth (Yerrick) Trowbridge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Trowbridge.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Trowbridge of Charlotte; brother, Todd (Sue Rodriguez) of Charlotte; sister, Pamela (Barry) Walter of DeWitt; sister, Deborah (Ronald) Rausch of Littleton, Colo.; four nephews and one niece.
There will be no services. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Thornapple Manor in memory of Scott Trowbridge, 2700 Nashville Rd., Hastings, Mich., 49058.

Clifton Tombaugh
Clifton Charles Tombaugh, 87, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. Mr. Tombaugh was born Jan. 22, 1920, the son of Charles and Katherine Tombaugh in Rodney, MI.
He was an avid bass fisherman, very much enjoyed his Friday night bowling league and playing cribbage.
He was preceded in death by sisters Dolores Peters and Dorothy Haskins.
He is survived by Louise, his wife of 62 years; daughter, Kathy (John) Pung of Charlotte; son, Ray Tombaugh of Mason; sister, Virgil Beachler of Hillsdale; several grand children, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Sept. 24, 2007.
