Cleo B. (Harper) Howery Willis
Cleo B. (Harper) Howery Willis, age 86 of Charlotte formerly of Eaton Rapids and Bradenton, FL, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in Charlotte. She was born March 29, 1920 in Jackson, MI. the daughter of Clifferd and Pearl Alice (Snow) Harper. Mrs. Willis was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate class of 1938. She was formerly employed with Michigan Bell Telephone in Charlotte, Ingham Medical Hospital in Lansing and retired after 20 years with Wal-Mart in Bradenton, FL. Mrs. Willis was preceded in death by her husbands, Clare Howery in 1971 and Ervin Willis in 1983; son, Tom Howery in 1969 and infant son, Clifferd Clare Howery.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Barbara (Clarence) Brown of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Elaine (Richard) Woodman of Charlotte; 9 grandchildren, Mark Brown, Stasi Brown, Angela Woodman, Deeanna Woodman, Nicholas Woodman, Richard Woodman Jr., Trina Butler, Karen Howery and Carol Howery; 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 2, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Brickyard Cemetery. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton County Humane Society in memory of Cleo B. Willis.
Lloyd Wilmore
Lloyd A. Wilmore, age 84, died April 12, 2007.
He was a kind and gentle man, respected by all those who had the fortune of knowing him. He was born within his family house and worked his life as a dairy farmer on his farm in Chester Township.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alberta; sons, Michael (Jennifer) and Patrick Whitney; sister, Lucille (Alan) Holcomb, brother, Loran (Iva-Jean) Wilmore; grandchildren, Ben, Josh, Zach, Eli, Mikey, Kirk and Clint; nieces, Charlene (Tim) Finegan, Loraine (Dave) Green, Diane (Tim) Henning and Jean (Scott) Timberlake; nephew, Bryan (Jackie) Holcomb; two great nieces; and seven great nephews.
He will be missed by many of his life-long friends, especially Monte Shumaker who spent many special moments with Lloyd. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18 at Pray Funeral Home, 401 W. Seminary, Charlotte. Interment at Gresham Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Eaton Community Hospice or to First Baptist Church in Charlotte would be appreciated.
Dorinda Wilson
Dorinda Louise Wilson, 59, of Grand Marais, MI, died June 3, 2007 peacefully at her home. She was born Aug. 18, 1947 in Edmore, Mich., to Ralph and Elsie (Bendall) Packard.
Dorinda graduated from Remus High School in 1965. She married Karl Bernard Wilson at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus on Feb. 20, 1966.
Dorinda was an avid kayaker, a published poet and a member of the U.P. Writer's Association. She and Karl owned and operated Superior Hardware for nearly 30 years and Wilson's Market for many years.
She retired in 2006 as the bookkeeper from Burt Township Public Schools. The class of 2007 dedicated its' yearbook to her, and a bench outside the school honors her many years of service.
She was a member of the Catholic and Mennonite churches in Grand Marais. She and Karl were able to enjoy several weeks in North Carolina this past winter traveling with their fifth wheel.
Dorinda was preceded in death by her father, Ralph, in 1996, brother, Daniel, in 1963, and brother-in-law, Tom Wilson, in 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Karl; mother, Elsie Packard of Remus; sons, Al (Diann) of St. Johns, Andy (Stacy) of West Bloomfield, Kyle (Carrie) of Dimondale, Adam (Melissa) of Suttons Bay, and Clay, of Fairbanks, Alaska; sister, Dolores (Robert) McFadden of Linden; brothers-in-law, Ron (Judy) Wilson of Tawas City, Rich (Susann) Wilson of Iron River; sister-in-law, Sandra Wilson of Marion; five grandchildren, Kristin, Cody, Tyler, Tate and Chase; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the American Cancer Society in Dorinda's name.
Lawrence E. Winchell
Lawrence E. Winchell, 74, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 at home. He was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Albion Township to Lawrence and Frieda (Grundeman) Winchell.
Lawrence served in the National Guard for six years in the 1950’s and worked in construction for many years in Lansing, Battle Creek and Hastings areas. He formed his own business in 1978 and did many construction projects for the Binder Park Zoo.
HIs family was his whole world and life. Lawrence loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much. He also enjoyed hunting with thanks to his long time friend Mark Gay. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Lawrence married Helen Ormsbee in 1952 in Angola, Indiana. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Sherry (Chuck) Sellen of Bellevue and Terry (Rich) Candaleria of Battle Creek; sons, Lawrence (Sandy) Winchell and Ernie (Cindy) Winchell of Bellevue; special grandchildren, Steven Winchell who lived with him, Stacey (Kevin) Lawson, Amie Sellen, whom he loved very much, Ryan and Brett Winchell whom he enjoyed picking on and Michelle Winchell his special everyday visitor; step grandchildren, Cristy Brown, Ashely, Jessica and Josh Carnell, Andy Candaleria; his loving great granddaughter and special playmate, Sophia Grace Lawson; step-great grandson, A.J. Handz; special mother-in-law, Maudie Ormsbee; daughter-in-law, Kim Winchell and best friend of 55 years, Harry Smith. He is also survived by seven sisters and was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
No visitation or services are scheduled. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice or Binder park Zoo.

Arthur Wing
Arthur Wing, 66, of Bellevue died peacefully at home with his family by his side on Dec. 27, 2007.
He was born Dec. 8, 1941, the son of Edmund and Florence 9Hickerson) Wing in Lansing. Art attended Lansing Eastern High School and worked as a supervisor at several area businesses including Diamond-Reo, H.B. Sherman, Great Lakes Novelty and Fun Services in Bellevue. He retired in 2003 from Fun Services.
Art married Judy Krokker on June 12, 1965. She survives. Also surviving are their son, Patrick (Cindy) Wing of Bellevue; daughters, Stephanee (Mike) Germann of Rhame, ND, Catherine (David) Campbell of Apache Junction, Ariz.; six grandchildren; sister, Donna (Larry) Merrill of DeWitt and special cousins, Mort and Nancy McKillop of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alan Wing and sister, Charlene Smith.
He was a member of the Bellevue Conservation Club and the Bellevue Athletic Boosters. Art enjoyed working in his yard, making casino trips, Coho fishing, snowmobiling, camping and watching NASCAR. He especially loved spending time with his family including his grandsons. Carter and Dawson especially made Grandpa smile. Grandpa was glad to make it to Machaela’s birthdays for eight years! And Grandpa was proud to travel to Arizona for Rick and Brian’s graduation. Art also enjoyed barbecuing and traveling to North Dakota and Arizona visiting his daughters and their families.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 31 at Bellevue First Baptist Church with Pastor Don Francis, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to your local hospice.
The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Russell Winslow
Russell Dale Winslow, 79, of Eaton Rapids, passed away April 28, 2007. He was born May 27,. 1927 in Alma, the son of Russell K. and Kittie M. (Caruss) Winslow.
Russell served in the US Air Force for four years and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. In 1984, he retired from the Motor Wheel Corp. after 40 years of service. He also farmed for over 50 years and lived on the family Centennial Farm.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Norine; two sons, Dan E. (Sharlene) Winslow of Eaton Rapids, Don C. Winslow of Evanston, IL; daughter, Donna E. (Mike) Pettit of Ovid, MI; three grandchildren, Kelly Marie, Troy “Bubba” and Kimberly Winslow; two step-grandsons, Dennis, Jr. (Karen) and John (Jennifer) Desgrange; and a sister, Anne (David) Cantine of Eaton Rapids.
Private graveside services will be held. Arrangements are by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home.

Kenneth Winters
Kenneth J. "Kenny" Winters, 75, of Saugerties, N.Y., died Aug. 1. He was born Aug. 31, 1931 in Charlotte, the son of Carl J. Winters and Margret E. (Siverthorne) Winters.
He attended Potterville High School, served in the U.S Marines during the Korean Conflict, and was a member and past commander of the American Legion of Saugerties, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by three wives, Jeannie (Sapada) Winters, Grace (Rock) Winters, and Agnes (Micheals); sister, Shirley Oswald; brother, William Winters; and a brother-in-law, Donald Royston.
He is survived by four daughters, Michele (Tom) Spelind of N.Y., Lisa (Chuck) Taylor of Missouri, Carla (Bill) Washburn of N.Y., Kendra (Kenny) Brown of FL; one sister, Ilah May Royston of Harrison; brother, Raymond and Linda Winters of Charlotte; one sister-in-law, Hazel Ruth Winters of Olivet.
Funeral services were held at the Buono Funeral Service in Saugerties, N.Y. Burial was at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Saugerties, N.Y.
Margaret Wood
Margaret I. (Leasor ) Wood, 90, died Sept. 22, 2007, after a short illness. She was born Dec. 11, 1916 in Kalamazoo, to Fred E. and Lydia E. (Kavanaugh) Leasor where she lived most of her life, moving to Lansing in 2005.
After being a homemaker for 20 years, Margaret returned to finish her teaching degree at Western Michigan University, graduating with honors in 1960, and then guiding hundreds of tiny children with her firm but loving hands as a kindergarten teacher at Pershing Elementary School in Portage, Michigan for almost 20 years. She was well loved.
Margaret loved spending time with her family and friends, reading, music and crocheting her famous baby booties for each new generation. She will be missed, this tough old lady who was always there for family and friends in good times and bad.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Glen A.; her son, Paul A.; and her brother, Ferdinand.
She leaves behind her daughter, Janet I. (Len) Morris; daughter-in-law, Eugena I. Wood; four grandchildren, Karen (Michael) Wood-Brasel, Peter A. Wood, Rebecca S. (Scott) DeZess, and Jill E. Morris. She also leaves the apple of her eye and her joy of the last 15 months, great-granddaughter, Madison Alexa DeZess. Margaret is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
As per Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or services. Private burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a contribution in her memory to Hospice House St. Lawrence Campus Lansing, Michigan or the charity of one's choice.
