Lora May Clark
Lora May Clark, 84, of Charlotte, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006. Mrs. Clark was born Dec. 2, 1921 in Eaton County the daughter of Byron H. and Alice E. (Dean) Hoffner.
She retired from the Olivet School as a teacher and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a life member of the Eaton Area Senior Center and the American Jersey Cattle Club. Lora enjoyed crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Henry Clark; son, James Clark of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Jane (Mark) Johnston of Hudson and Rae (Richard) Taylor of Rochester, Ind.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Nov. 20 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Bob Homan officiating. Interment was at Center Eaton Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Area Senior Center.

Norma J. Clark
Norma J. Clark, 81, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006.
Mrs. Clark was born May 17, 1924 in Sunfield, the daughter of Archie and Merle (Guy) Smith. She enjoyed gardening and landscaping, and was a registered nurse.
She is survived by: her sons, David Clark of Charlotte and Gary (Karen) Clark of Peoria, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Jennifer, Scott and Mary.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Nelson Clark, in 2001; and sister, Ardith Compton.
Graveside services were held Jan. 6 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Richard “Dick” J Clark
Richard “Dick” J. Clark, age 86 of Eaton Rapids died Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Dimondale Nursing Center. He was born February 19, 1920 on the family farm in Aurelius Township, the son of Russell and Margaret (Thompson) Clark. Mr. Clark retired in 1975 from General Motors in Lansing, was a member of the U.A.W. Local #652, a Life Member of the F. & A. M. Lodge #63 in Eaton Rapids, a former Dairy Farmer and a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Edith (Hart) Clark in September 2005.
He is survived by his 4 children, Douglas (Dawne) Clark of Cadillac, Carol (Larry) Badura of Washburn, WI, Rick (Claudia) Clark of Levering, Mi. and Janet (Randy) Clark-Verus of Eaton Rapids; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Bunker Cemetery. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Robbins United Methodist church in memory of Richard “Dick” Clark.
Lucille Emily Clutter
Lucille Emily Clutter, age 94, of Eaton Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in Eaton Rapids. Lucille was born Dec. 25, 1911, in Lansing, the daughter of John and Hazel Denby.
Lucille was a 35-year employee of Shimmin/Ferguson's Pharmacy. She was also an avid bowler on the Monday and Thursday night women's league in Eaton Rapids.
Lucille was the last of eight children and was preceded in death by her husband Varney Clutter in 1968 and grandson, Steve Norris in 1984.
Lucille is survived by her two loving daughters, June Sands and Helen Keys, both of Eaton Rapids; 12 grandchildren, Stanley (Deb) Norris, Sandy (Joe) Ruiz, Sue (Jim) Richardson, Margo (Bob) Fuller, Mike (Valerie) Keys and Patricia (Rich) Nichols; 27 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great grandchildren.
The family was served through the Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Burial was at the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
Ivan Glenn Cockroft
Ivan Glenn Cockroft, age 87, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 in Lansing. Ivan was born November 16, 1918 in Springport Township, the son of Robert and Cora Belle (Fowler) Cockroft. He was a farmer and retired from Kelsey-Hayes Manufacturing of Jackson after 23 years of service. Preceded in death by his sons, Morris and Dennis; brothers, Harold Cockroft, Wesley Cockroft, Marion Cockroft; sister, Emma Anderson.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth (Hopcraft); daughter, Louis (Robert) Snow of Springport; grandchildren, Shelly (Duane) Rich/Depew, Lori Snow, Dennis (Norma) Snow, Daryl Snow; 2 great grandchildren, Richard and Ivan Rich; 1 brother, L.J. Cockroft of Ohio; and 3 nieces & 4 nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Griffith Church in memory of Ivan Cockroft.
Hazel Margaret Cole
Hazel Margaret Cole, 76, of Sunfield, Michigan passed away Tuesday Oct. 24, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
She was born July 17, 1930 in Sunfield, daughter of Frank A. and Golda A. (Southwell) Jackson. Hazel enjoyed gardening, her cats, feeding and watching birds, especially hummingbirds.
Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by both her parents; husband, A. Russell Cole in 1990; sisters, Helen Hager, and Hilda Porter; and brother, Harold Jackson.
She is survived by children, Faith (Fred) Richard of Delta Mills, and John (Chris) Porter of Sunfield; nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; brother, Hugh (Joanna) Jackson; sisters, Hertha Franks, and Hope (Fred) Hart; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Oct. 27 at the Sunfield Cemetery with Rev. Darrel Bosworth of the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church in Woodland officiating.

Matthew W. Cole
Matthew Wayne Cole of Green Grove, Fla. formerly of Cooks, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006 at his residence at the age of 48. He was born May 6, 1958 in Hastings the son of George W. Cole and Janet Lee (Hayes) Hughs.
Matthew graduated from Big Bay DeNoc High School. He entered the U.S. Navy and retired from there after 20 years of service, serving in Desert Storm and Granada. He also owned and operated his own company, Dirt Werks, an excavating and bobcat business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working in his yard.
Surviving are his two children, Nicholas Cole of Jacksonville, Fla. and Shara Cole of Jacksonville, Fla.; friend, Tracy Smith; mother and father, Janet (Roger) Hughs of Georgia, and George (Betty) Cole of Sunfield; brothers and sister, Mike Cole of Sunfield, Larry (Cynthia) Cole of Sunfield, John (Michelle) Cole of Sunfield, and Joanna (Doug) Haddix of Hastings; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with Rev. Mark E. Ralph officiating.
A military service was held in his honor at the Sunfield Cemetery following the funeral service. For those wishing, contributions may be made in care of the family to George Cole, C/O RFH, P.O. Box 36, Sunfield, Mich., 48890.

Marian E. Collins
Marian E. (Morton) Collins of Grand Rapids, 96, formerly of Charlotte, passed away April 30, 2006 at the Michigan Christian Home in Grand Rapids. Marian was born Sept. 19, 1909 in Charlotte, the daughter of Dr. Milton and Winifred (Benton) Thynge.
She lived most of her life in Charlotte except for the last five years when she resided in Grand Rapids. While in Charlotte, Marian was employed at the former Wilcox-Gay Co. and later Eaton Stamping Co. in Eaton Rapids where she retired from in 1973. She was a member of the Charlotte Christian Reformed Church and the Laugh-A-Lot Club.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest “Shorty” Morton and Basil Collins, and her son, Garner Morton.
Surviving are daughter, Joy (Carl) Lancaster of Kentwood; five grandchildren, Julie Morton (Eugene) Sharpe of Harrison, Stephanie (Joseph) LaVopie of Kentwood, Tami (Steve) Senger of LaGrange, Ky, Steve Lancaster of San Francisco, CA and Guy Michael Morton of Battle Creek; nine great-grandchildren, Jessica and Phillip Sharpe, Aubrey, Addison, Julia, Avery and Owen LaVoie, Alyssa Senger and Brock Morton.
Funeral services were held May 4 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Pastor Al Bytwork officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Michigan Christian Home, 1845 Boston, S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Mary C. Conley
Mary Christena Conley, 90, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006.
Mary was born Dec. 22, 1915 in rural Eaton County. She worked at Wilcox-Gay and later retired from Hayes Green Beach Hospital as a nurse’s aide after 19 years. Following retirement, she was active in the Foster Grandparents Program for 14 years. Mary also was a member of the First Congregational Church UCC of Charlotte.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan [Gerald] Emmons of Parma; son, Gene (Ruth) Conley, of Charlotte and brothers and sisters in law; Max [Ruth] Brown, of Charlotte, Clayton “Bud” and Mary Brown, of Springport, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her parents Wilson and Verna [Kohn] Brown, and brothers Walter “Jack”, Paul Brown and sister Viva Bosman. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 14 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery on October 14, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Phil Hobson officiating.
