Emerson Dillin
Emerson V. Dillin, 80, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006. He was born Jan. 20, 1926 in Eaton Township, the son of Vern and Nina (Rolfe) Dillin and was a lifelong Eaton County resident. He was a 1944 graduate of Bellevue High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed at General Aluminum/Carefree Products in Charlotte, from where he retired. He was a past commander and life member of the Maple City Post 2406 VFW, had been a VFW District Commander and was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte.
Surviving are: his wife of 59 years, Audrey J. (Stahl) Dillin; daughter, Jane (Terry) Berkimer of Holland; son, Stuart (Paula) Dillin of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Scott (Andrea) Berkimer, Corey (Nicole) Berkimer, Katrina (Richard (Kiessel), Aaron Dillon, Kyle Dillon and Kim Alberts and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Yerxa.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Dr. Carol A. Spangenberg officiating. Interment, with Military Honors was at the Kalamo Hillside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Duane E. Dingman
Duane E. (Charlie) Dingman, age 56, of Bellevue died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at his farm. He was born April 26, 1950 in Battle Creek to Harold E. and Velma Jean (Spotts) Dingman.
Duane graduated from Bellevue High School and began his love for farming. He was a dairy farmer using only Holstein cows. Duane was a member of First Baptist Church in Bellevue, the Future Farmers of America, the Bellevue 4-H Farmers and The Michigan Milk Producers Association. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing everything and anything, coon hunting and especially being with his family. Duane married Janice A. Boyer on April 19, 1997. She survives.
Duane is preceded in death by his father.
Also surviving are his mother, Velma Jean Dingman of Bellevue; daughter, Donna (John) Tyr of Lakeland, Fla.; son, Jason (Shera) Dingman of Delton; step-daughters, Tammy (John) Coffman of Battle Creek, Tonya Colburn of Bellevue, Tina Colburn of Battle Creek; step-son, Robert Colburn of Bellevue; brothers, Dennis (Laraine) Dingman of Bellevue, Doyle (Renee) Dingman of Bellevue; sister, Diane (Dennis) Kelly of Bellevue. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Nov. 16 at First Baptist Church, Bellevue with Pastor Donald A. Francis officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The family is being served by the Shaw Funeral Home- Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Ashley K. Dixon
Ashley Kaye Dixon, age 1, passed away Wednesday May 10, 2006 at home.
She was born Oct. 20, 2004 in Lansing, Michigan, daughter of Jock E. and Shannon Kaye Dixon.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Shannon and Jock Dixon, two sisters, Kaitlyn and Skylar, Grandparents, Mark and Marsha Stambaugh of Sunfield, Ed and Deb Dixon of Charlotte, Uncle Cole Lawless, and Uncle and Aunt Scott and Stacy Dixon, cousins, Lexi, and Kelsey Dixon.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, MI with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. The family received friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, May 12 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 P.M.
For those wishing contributions may be made in care of the family. Interment was held in the Meadowbrook Cemetery in Mulliken, MI. The family is being served by the Independent Family owned funeral home in Sunfield: Rosier Funeral Home.
Herbert C. Domres
Herbert C. "Herb" Domres, 65, of East Bay, and formerly of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at his home, following a strong and courageous six week battle with cancer. Herb was born in Lansing on Feb. 15, 1941 to Dorothy Alice (Upner) and Herbert William Domres.
He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1959. He married Joanne I. Hoogenboom on April 27, 1963 at Gull Lake. Herb's family remembers him as a doer. He held in high esteem a work ethic that left no room for compromise or cutting corners. He was very mechanical and always held to the premise to be precise in any project he worked on. This led to respect from customers and work associates in his work as a service manager in the heavy equipment industry. Herb had been employed by John Deere Company prior to moving to Traverse City in 1981, and then continued with the same type of job in the Traverse City area. His employer and friend at Northern Michigan Equipment Co. summed it all up when he said that his business would not be where it was today without Herb's expertise and attention to service and detail. Herb always gave more than what was expected and was extremely dedicated to his work. He was a man of few words, but spoke volumes through his actions.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Genevieve Hoogenboom and other extended family members.
Herb is survived by his wife, Joanne; by his children, Sheryl (Scott) Ashurst of Williamsburg, Mark (Andrea) Domres of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Allison Ashurst, Corbin, Campbell and Cutler Domres; a sister, Marie Domres; a brother, Fritz (Karen) Domres of Charlotte; his father-in-law, Richard Hoogenboom of Gull Lake; a brother-in-law, Ronald (June) Hoogenboom of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; three nephews, Andrew, Tyler and David; a niece, Lisa; an aunt, Margarett Kronk and other extended family.
Funeral services were held Oct. 26 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, with Rev. Barbara Hoig, Hospice chaplain, officiating. Memorial contributions in Herb's name can be directed to the Traverse City Junior Golf Association, 310 W. Front St., Ste. 201, Traverse City, Mich., 49684 for the Herbert C. Domres Scholarship.
Charlene D. Dowding
Charlene Dee (Umbarger) Dowding, 67, of Olivet, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at the Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte.
Charlene was born May 17, 1939 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Alton and Flossie (Rochester) Umbarger and was a lifelong Eaton County resident. She attended Eaton Rapids Schools. She had been employed by the Air-Way Mfg. Co. in Olivet and later was employed as a para-professional by Olivet Community Schools, where she retired after 13 years of service. She has served for over 20 years as a Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of almost 50 years, Bruce Dowding; two daughters, Cherri Brester and Cathy Dowding, both of Olivet; a son, Bruce (Tammy) Dowding of Olivet; six grandchildren, Lacy Sloan, K.C. Doty, Fred Brester, Lydia Brester, Kassie Brester and Bruce Dowding III; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Colin Sloan; three brothers, Howard Umbarger of Eaton Rapids, Maurice Umbarger of Charlotte and Delton Umbarger of Beaverton and one sister, Margaret Livingston of Eaton Rapids.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Doty; two brothers, Maynard and Kenneth Umbarger and one sister, Hazel Clough.

Donovan M. Doxsie
Donovan M. Doxsie, 74, of Charlotte, formerly of Mulliken, died Saturday evening, Feb. 25, 2006 at Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte.
Mr. Doxsie was born Jan. 29, 1932 in Grand Ledge, a son of Paul and Gertrude (Chaplin) Doxsie. He was a retired farmer and General Motors employee.
Surviving are: his wife of 32 years, Elaine; two daughters, Cindy Doxsie of Alpena and Patti (Chris) Voight of Bellevue; daughter-in-law, Cyndi (Ron) Bila of Howell; former son-in-law, Lee Russ of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Norine (Harold) Enness of Grand Ledge and Virginia (Dennis) Carr of Lansing; brother-in-law, Fred (Alene) Dixon of Eagle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Doxsie was preceded in death by: son, Rick; great-grandson, Dominick Miller; three brothers and one sister.
Services were held Feb. 28 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Dick Strickland officiating.
Terry L. Dresbach
Terry L. Dresbach, 66, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 at the Eaton Community Hospice Hose, surrounded by his family. Mr. Dresbach was born March 20, 1940 in Alma, the son of Robert Max and Dorothea E. (Wilson) Dresbach.
He served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War, and he was a tuck driver in Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter Terri Lynn Catlin of Alma; three grandchildren, Ashley, Megan and Marcy Catlin; sisters, Judith (Ron) Schultheiss of Charlotte, Pat Wolfe of Memphis Tenn, and Shelley Severance of Florida.
At his wish, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Cilinda Maria Droste
Cilinda Maria Droste passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006 at a Lansing Hospital at the age of 79. Mrs. Droste was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Margaret Turner of Delaware, sons, Carl Norman, and Norman Carl Droste. She was born May 17, 1927 in Wilmington, Delaware; daughter of Frank R. and Mary M. (Mansk) Heaton.
Cilinda graduated from Visitation High School, Detroit, MI in 1945. On July 1, 1950 she married Marvin A. Droste, they were married 55 years. She is survived by her husband, Marvin A. Droste, children, Marvin A. (Julie) Droste Jr., Cilinda (Ted) Stroud, Richard Drost (Deb Misiak), Eva (Glen) Pung, Monica (Bob) Woods, Rebecca Droste (Anthony Moralez), and Benjamin (Anne) Droste, sister, Eva (Martin) Barrett of Bayonet Pt., FL, brother in law, Richard (Doris) Droste, 9 grandchildren, dear friends, Kathleen Droste, and Gladys Brown. Cilinda was in her glory when she was surrounded by her family. Her sense of humor will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Marvin Droste
Marvin A. Droste of Sunfield, died Nov. 4, 2006 in his residence at the age of 83.
He was born April 24, 1923 in Roosevelt, the son of Charles F. and Antoinette (Schumacher) Droste. Marvin served his country during World War II, US Army: 2nd Airborne Infantry Brigade, 82 and 101 ST. Divisions-Screaming Eagles, and he was a B.A.R. sharp shooter. He was an avid outdoors man and whitetail deer hunter. Marvin was an extraordinary person, who always found ways to have fun with his family and friends, and never missed the opportunity to call someone a knucklehead.
On July 1, 1950 Marvin married his true love and life long partner, Cilinda M. Heaton. When Marvin described his marriage and life, he would say, "Didn't we have a lot of fun." God bless you Starvin Marvin - rest in peace!
The entire family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for the dedicated care that Rich showed for their Dad during the past year.
Mr. Droste was preceded in death by both his parents; sons Carl Norman Droste, and Norman Carl Droste.
Surviving are seven children, Marvin (Julie) Droste, Cilinda (Ted) Stroud, Richard Droste, Eva (Glen) Pung, Monica (Bob) Woods, Rebecca Droste, and Ben (Anne) Droste; nine grandchildren; brother, Richard (Doris) Droste; sister in laws, Katheleen Droste, and Eva (Martin) Barrett; special nephew, Norman K. Droste, aka "Knucklehead," very special care giver and friend, Melanie Davidson.
Funeral services were held Nov. 9, at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield. A graveside service was held with military honors at the East Sebewa Cemetery following the service at the funeral home. The family is being served by the Independent Family Owned Funeral Home in Sunfield: Rosier Funeral Home.
