Gordon E. Fueri
Gordon E. Fueri, 75, of Battle Creek, formerly of Nashville/Hastings, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at Battle Creek Health Systems. Gordon was born July 31, 1931 in Detroit the son of Robert and Vergie (Cox) Fueri.
He lived most of his life in Barry County and the past two years in Battle Creek.
Preceding him in death were his father, Robert Fueri Sr. in 1981; brothers, James in 1935 and Robert Jr. in 1991; and sister, Virginia in 1940.
Gordon is survived by his mother, Vergie Fueri of Nashville; sisters, Lois Maurer of Maryville, Tenn. and Janet Garner of Charlotte; brother, Paul Fueri of Florida; sister-in-law, Mary Fueri of Nashville; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Sept. 24 at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville with Mr. Troy Murray officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Jehovah's Witnesses, Charlotte.

Claudia M. Gander
Claudia Marie Gander, 54, of Eaton Rapids passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 in Eaton Rapids. Claudia was born March 11, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI.
Claudia was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her father, James F. Popp.
Claudia is survived by her daughter, Anastasia (Timothy) Bausman of Blissfield; son, Sam Gander of Eaton Rapids; three grandchildren, Johathan and Nicholas Martinez and Mackenzie Bausman; former husband, David Gander; mother, Theresa J. (McNeil) LaRose of AK; brother, James (Jan) Popp of Clarkston; sisters, Jean (Darold) Palme of NC, Susan (Leon) Lecours of PA, Margie (Jeffrey) Zopf of MN, Joyce Helsel of TN, Diane (Rick) Fedor of MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian burial was prayed March 28 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 515 E. Knight St., Eaton Rapids with Father Bennett Constantine as Celebrant. Interment followed at Rosehill Cemetery.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Sam Gander Educational Fund in memory of Claudia Gander.

Jeffrey Gardner
Jeffrey Allen Gardner, 44, of Charlotte died unexpectedly, Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006. Mr. Gardner was born Aug. 16, 1962 in Lansing, the son of Kenneth Gardner Sr., and Patricia Helmker.
He graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1980 and was the founder and owner of J. Allen Associates. He had also worked as a graphic designer for J Ad Graphics and worked for several local area businesses, including the Charlotte Shopping Guide. He ran a statewide home/business computer repair and enjoyed photography and volunteer teaching.
He is survived by daughters, Natasha Marie (Jeremiah) Heinsen, Christy Ann Gardner and Jessica Lynn (Jason) Forest of Charlotte; son, Joshua Christian Huff-Gardner of Charlotte; mother, Patricia (Jim) Helmker of Lakeview; father, Kenneth (Sandy) Gardner of Gladwin; brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Gardner Jr., of Kansas City, Kan., Doug Gardner of Hastings, Patrick (Amy) Gardner of Charlotte, and John (Liz) Gardner of Lansing; sister, Debra (Mike) Heuss of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Nov. 22 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Brad Anderson officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Alice W. Garity
Alice W. Garity of Eaton Rapids, age 74, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. She was born on December 1, 1931 in Concord MI, the daughter of Chester and Anna (West) Weston. Mrs. Garity was a Dairy farmer with her husband John in rural Eaton Rapids. She was a member of the Clydesdale Association, Michigan Holsteins Association and the Eaton County Farm Bureau. Preceding her in death were husbands, John Garity and Richard Grundeman; son, Sherman Garity and great-grandson, Hunter Garity.
She is survived by her daughter, Adele Thompson of Mason; son, John (Nancy) Garity of Eaton Rapids; daughter-in-law, Tyfanie Garity of Bermondville; close friends, Jeff and Sandy Waldron of Eaton Rapids; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Eifert of Mason, John (Christina) Garity of Eaton Rapids, Robin Garity of Eaton Rapids and Brian Garity of Eaton Rapids; sister, Arlene (Ed) Honeck of Ann Arbor; brother, Ed (Barbara) Weston of Concord and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 24th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed at the Brickyard Cemetery in Eaton Rapids Township. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice in memory of Alice Garity.
Hunter Pierce Garity
Hunter Pierce Garity, new born son of John and Christina (Stahl) Garity passed away at Sparrow Hospital on March 4, 2006. Hunter was preceded in death by his great uncle Sherman Pierce Garity on January 17, 2006.
He is survived by his parents; John and Christina (Stahl) Garity, grandparents; Mark and Deb Stahl and John and Nancy Garity all of Eaton Rapids; great-grandparents, Alice Garity, Alma Stahl and Bernice Tiemeyer; aunts and uncle, Rebeccca Stahl, Robin Garity and Brian Garity.
Family graveside services were held on Wednesday March 8, 2006, at the Brickyard Cemetery in Eaton Rapids Township with Rev. Carol Spangenberg of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte, providing words of comfort. The family was served through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Sherman P. Garity
Sherman Pierce Garity, 43, of Vermontville, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006 as a result of an automobile accident in Chester Township in Eaton County.
Sherman was a farmer in Vermontville and also worked the family farm in Eaton Rapids. He was a hunter and a lover of the outdoors and always enjoyed the spring turkey hunt with his best friend, Jeff Waldron.
Sherman was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Fajnor; father, John Garity; and step-father, Dick Grundeman.
Surviving are: his wife of 15 years, Tyfanie (Hawkins) Garity; four children, Anthony (Kristie) Faynor of Vermontville, Jessica Fajnor of Nashville, Jennifer (Jon) Fajnor-Mitchell of Hastings and Kristin (Josh) Widenhofer of Cleveland Ohio; six grandchildren, Brandon, Hanna, Ford, Wade, Quentin and Patience; mother, Alice Garity of Eaton Rapids; sister Adele Thompson of Mason; brother, John (Nancy) Garity of Eaton Rapids; nieces and nephews, Amanda Eifert of Howell, and John (Christina) Garity, Robin Garity and Brian Garity, all of Eaton Rapids; and life-time best friends, Jeff and Sandy Waldron of Eaton Rapids.
A memorial service was held Jan. 20 at Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.

Joyce E. Garrison
Joyce E. (Bailey) Garrison, 85, of Dimondale, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006.
Mrs. Garrison was born Nov. 17, 1920 in Lansing, the daughter of Ray and Ruby (Van Syoc) Bailey. She was employed by Arbaugh’s in Lansing during the 1950s and ‘60s. She went on to become administrative assistant for the Michigan State University Alumni Association and later an administrative assistant for the Department of Plant Biology until her retirement. Mrs. Garrison was an active member of the Potterville United Methodist Church the Red Hat Society -- Windsor Flames, and the Hoedowners Square Dance Club. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as past worthy matron of Potterville Chapter 413. She also held membership in Chapter 64 in Payson, Ariz., and Dimondale Chapter 367 and is a current member of Grand Ledge Chapter 14. Mrs. Garrison, along with her late husband Charles, were early leaders of the Community Riders 4-H Horse Club, for 18 years beginning in the 1950s.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Sandy) of Charlotte, Thomas (Joyce) of St. Johns, James (Connie) of Charlotte, and Jeffrey of Kona, Hawaii; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dean (Elvira) Bailey of Prescott, Ariz.; and a sister, Beverly Foster of Potterville.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Charles Garrison and Hank Knapp.
An Order of the Eastern Star service was held Jan. 12 and funeral services were held Jan. 13 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Porterville United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.

Gearld L. Geary
Gearld L. Geary, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2006. He was born July 23, 1930 in Lansing, the son of Cecil and Lerena (Booth) Geary and had been a Charlotte resident for 26 years, coming from DeWitt.
He ended his professional career at Spartan Motors in Charlotte as a partner in the company he helped found. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War, was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School and attended General Motors Institute.
He is survived by: Betty (Keller) Geary, his wife of 26 years; son, Robert Gearald Geary; daughter, Cheryl Geary; step-children, Larry Robinson, Eric Robinson and Deborah Truxal; grandchildren Jeremiah Geary and Destiny Geary; step-grandchildren, Rachael, Bobby and Bradley Smith; sisters, Beverly (Harold) Cunningham, Patricia Ticnor, Ruth (Donald) Milbourne; brothers-in-law, Carl, William, Bob and Gary Griffith and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Marie Griffith, grandson, Travis Geary and his parents.
Funeral services were held July 3 at the First Lutheran Church, Charlotte, with Pastor Timothy Olson and Deacon Gordon Phillips officiating. Interment was held at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Charlotte or to the Sparrow Foundation Intensive Care Unit.
