William T. Harper
William Thomas Harper, 67, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006.
Mr. Harper was born Aug. 10, 1938 in Gleason, Tenn., the son of George and Effie Jane (Clark) Harper. Mr. Harper served in the U.S. Army, was a Chicago Cubs fan, loved classic westerns and motorcycles. He was an auto mechanic “when cars were cars,” and enjoyed bowling. William made friends easily.
He is survived by; daughter, Wendy (Phil) Zamora of Charlotte; son, Lindsey (Anita) Harper of Lansing; four grandchildren; brothers, L.C. (Dorothy) Harper, George (Dorothy) Harper, both of Tennessee; sisters, Elouise Ellis, Fay (Larry) Taylor, Shirley (Bob) Morris, all of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Sarah Harper of Tennessee; and special friend, Marie Jones of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by; his infant daughter Annette Lee, in 1963; brothers, James, Billy, Raymond and Paul Harper.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 30 at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Pairs, Tenn.
Local arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Allen L. Harrington, Sr.
Allen LeRoy Harrington, Sr. of Hastings, formerly of Sunfield, passed away Sunday July 16, 2006 at Thornapple Manor in Hastings at the age of 63. Allen was born Jan. 9, 1943 in Vestaburg the son of Arthur and Myrta (Erskin) Harrington.
He retired from General Motors in 1993 and was a member of the Nashville Baptist Church. Allen enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Nereida Lu Harrington; three children, Annette (Clifford) Montry of Fla., Patrizia (Edward) Sordillo of Mass. and Allen L. Harrington, Jr. of Sunfield; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Carl (Celia) Harrington of Barryton, Betty (Norm) Marsh of Vestiburg, and Myrtie (Chester) Smalley of Stanton.
Funeral services were held July 19 at the Nashville Baptist Church with Rev. Lester DeGroot officiating.
For those wishing, contributions may be made to the Nashville Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Allen L. Harrington, Sr. The graveside interment was at the Sunfield Cemetery. The pallbearers were Allen Harrington Jr., Kenny Otto, Kevin Otto, Kerry Otto, Larry Keefer and Benny Lopez.

Doris I. Harrington
Dorris I. Harrington, 84, of Olivet, passed away Sunday April 23, 2006 in Lansing.
Doris was born June 16, 1921 in Nashville, MI the daughter of Lewis G. and Sylvia M. (Springett) Reid. She had been employed as an Administrative Assistant at Olivet College retiring in 1995 after 32 years of service, and was a member of the Olivet Congregational Church (UCC). Doris was also a member of Women’s Board at Olivet where she managed the Oak Chest Shop for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elson V. Harrington, Sr. in 1987, son Elson V. “Joe” Harrington, Jr. in 2003, mother Sylvia M. Norton in 1999 and her father, Lewis G. Reid.
She is survived by: Daughter, Sharon Powell of Olivet; Grandchildren, Lisa Harrington (Doug) Fox, Damon (Devora) Powell and Travis (Kimberly) Powell and great grandchildren, Tayler and Allyson Powell, Matthew and Mark Fox, Casey Vicchio, Emily Farnan, and Amelia and Ayden Powell.
Alberta L. Harris
Alberta Louise Harris, 87, of Eaton Rapids, passed away Wednesday 29, 2006 in East Lansing. Alberta was born October 9, 1919 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of Grover Claude and Ruby Edna (Harris) Letts. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Harris in 2004; brothers, Carrol Ward Letts in 1972, David Delane Letts in 1983 and C. Paul Letts in 2003; a sister, Elida D. Casidy in 1998.
Alberta is survived by two daughters, Marietta E. (Francis) Schafer of Williamston, Susan D. (Grant) Hilts of Lansing; two sons, George I. (Lucy) Harris of Eaton Rapids an Phillip L. (Barbara) Harris of Williamston; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.

Alice M. Harris
Alice Marie Harris, 61, of Battle Creek and formerly of Bellevue, died May 31, 2006 at Battle Creek Health System. She was born March 26, 1945, the daughter of Bob Berkimer and Mildred (McGee) Berkimer Stebbins in Bellevue.
She graduated from Bellevue High School and worked as a hairdresser for Ferrari's and at Docsa Retirement Home. She also worked as a babysitter for many years.
Alice married Leon R. Harris on Aug. 26, 1966 in Bellevue. He survives. Also surviving are sons, Gregory (Tammy) Harris of Battle Creek, William (Amy) Harris of Augusta; grandchildren, David Harris and Jason Harris; sisters, Inez Cummins of Bellevue, Mary Ann Botimer of Bellevue; brothers, Bob (Leah) Berkimer, Jr. and George (Billie) Berkimer, both of Battle Creek.
Alice was a member of the Southwest Michigan Amateur Radio Society in Battle Creek and the Travel Trailer Club of Michigan.
She enjoyed computers, jigsaw puzzles and doing plastic canvas crafts.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue. Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, Rev. Dr. George L. Coon, Northeast Baptist Church, Kalamazoo, officiating.
Memorial donations may go to American Diabetes Association.

David Q. Harris
David Q. Harris, age 50, of Eaton Rapids lost his courageous battle against cancer on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at a Lansing hospital. He was born May 22, 1956 in Eaton Rapids the son of Doyle and Esther (McManus) Harris. David was an Eaton Rapids High School graduate, class of 1974. He was formerly employed with Aluminum Extrusions in Charlotte and currently a driver for Perfection Bakery in Lansing. David was an avid deerhunter, he enjoyed building radio controlled airplanes and cars for competition and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Harris, in 2002.
David is survived by his 2 daughters, Jennifer and Michelle both of Charlotte; mother, Esther Harris of Eaton Rapids; 4 brothers and sisters, Donald (Michelle) Harris of Charlotte, Sheila (Robert) Brewer, Cheryl (James) Allen and Jim (Karen) Harris all of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
Funeral services will be today, October 3, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Oakwood Cemetery. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to either the Eaton County Hospice or the Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice, envelopes available at the funeral home.
Dr. Dub Harris
Dr. Dub Harris, 81, of Howell, formerly of Charlotte, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 in Brighton.
Dr. Harris was born Aug. 29, 1924 in Owosso, the son of Beatrice (Briggs) Harris. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a podiatrist in Charlotte, retiring in 1991, and was a life member of the Corunna VFW Post, enjoyed golfing and was a member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club.
He is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Doris (Harrison) Harris; sons, Douglas (Cathy) Harris of Mansfield, Texas, and Mark (Geralyn) Harris of Howell; five grandchildren; and a brother, Don (Jean) Harris of Corunna.
Funeral services were held Feb. 27 at First Baptist Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Craig Owens officiating. Interment was at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Isabelle Harris
Isabelle “Nip” (Shaull) Harris, 93, of Olivet, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Harris was born May 7, 1912 in Charlotte, the daughter of Grove and Blanche (Milbourn) Shaull and was a life resident of the Charlotte/Olivet area. She was a 1930 graduate of Charlotte High School and as a young lady had worked at the former Behrens & Rowe Pharmacy in Charlotte.
Surviving are: one son, Jon (Jean) Harris of Charlotte; two daughters, Ruth Harris of Olivet and Linda McCloud of Marshall; five grandchildren, Thomas Harris, Heather (Donal) Harris-Brady, Brenda (Tim) Taverniti, Brian (Jennifer) Harris and Jay (Holly) McCloud; and five great-grandchildren, Lisa Frey, Sofia Brady, Rowan Brady, and Morgan and Grace Taverniti.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Nancy Harris; husband, Alton R. Harris; sister, Ruth Seifert; and brothers, Shirley “Pete” Shaull and Ralph Green.
Funeral services were held March 10 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Jack Brown of Olivet Congregational Church officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery in Olivet.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oaklawn Hospital Homecare Health Services of Marshall.
Bernice A. Hartel
Bernice A. (Pinch) Hartel, 94, of Potterville died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Hartel was born July 21, 1912 in Potterville the daughter of Ray and Mary (Stiefel) Pinch and had lived most of her life in the Potterville area.
She was a farm wife who had worked closely with her husband on their family farm. She was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, had been an active 4-H leader and was a charter member of the Potterville United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey L. Hartel in 1995 and a brother, Richard Pinch in 1972.
Surviving are her two sons, William (Marjorie) Hartel and Robert Hartel, both of Potterville; two daughters, Mary Ann (Cecil) Ball of Battle Creek and Janet (Richard) Dzambik of Lorain, Ohio; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Raymond Pinch of Lansing.
Funeral services were held Sept. 14 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Potterville United Methodist Church.
