Alice A. Hatcher
Alice A. Hatcher, 65, of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1940 in Jefferson County, Ala.
Alice was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed camping, collecting clowns, and her dog "Tiny." She was a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
She is survived by her children Clint Schultz of Camp Lejuene, N.C., Chris (Shawn) Schultz, Chet (Tami Robinson) Schultz and Cindy (Tim) Weaver all of Charlotte. She also leaves her fiancé James LeClear of Battle Creek and her sisters Joyce Owens and Nancy Cunningham, and aunt Loretta Duncan all of Birmingham, Ala.
Funeral services were held Oct. 2 at Royal Funeral Home. Interment of cremated remains will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Fredrick Rollin Hatfield
Fredrick Rollin Hatfield, 103, went home to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Dec. 12, 2006 in Dade City, Fla. Fredrick was born April 12, 1903 to Claude and Leila Hatfield in Vermontville.
He graduated from Vermontville High School and attended Olivet College. He married Doris Martin in September 1922. He worked at Oldsmobile in Lansing for many years and retired in 1966. Doris passed away in 1967. He later married Ruth Bugbee in 1968. They moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., where they lived until Ruth passed away in 2003. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Vermontville since 1919. After moving to Florida in 1974 he belonged to the United Church of Christ in Zephyrhills, Fla. Later, he joined the Bradford Congregational Church in Zephyrhills. Although Fredrick never had any children of his own, he served as a mentor and role model for all of his relatives. A finer gentleman and role model would be hard to find.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Priddy in 2005 in Charlotte.
Fredrick is survived by his brother, Howard (Edna) Hatfield.
At Mr. Hatfield's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Michigan in the spring of 2007.

Barbara J. Haun
Barbara J. (Crilly) Haun, 81, of Charlotte, died Thursday Dec. 14, 2006. Mrs. Haun was born May 10, 1925 in Battle Creek, the daughter of John T. and Lana (Bracy) Haun and had been an Eaton County resident for over 60 years.
She was a 1943 graduate of Olivet High School where she was Salutatorian of her class, was a member of the Ainger Bible Church and Eaton County Geneological Society. She had been employed by the Olivet Community Schools as a playground supervisor retiring in 1987 after 20 1/2 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Lloyd B. Haun on March 19, 2004 and by a brother, Kenneth Crilly.
Surviving are her four children, Marilyn Jean Haun of Charlotte, Joyce Anne (William) Welch of Charlotte, Roger Lloyd (Louise) Haun of Charlotte and Ronald Steven (Elizabeth) Haun of Olivet; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Genevieve (Merlin) Miller of Narrow Lake, Doloris (William) Kleinfelt of Charlotte and Carol Akins of Leonidas and two brothers, John L. (Ruby) Crilly of Deming, N.M. and Nyle (Deloris) Crilly of Nashville.
Funeral services were held Dec. 18 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Scott Brood of Ainger Bible Church officiating. Interment was in the Bosworth Cemetery, Olivet. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital Home Care.
Phyllis Jean Haven
Phillis Jean Haven of Tompkins Twp., age 77, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006 in Ann Arbor, Phyllis was born May 7, 1929 in Eaton Rapids, MI, the daughter of John Wheeler and Clara Mable (Coats) Norris. She was a member of the Onondaga Community Church, Past Worthy Matron of Mason OES #150 and a 4-H for 20 years. Preceded in death by her brother, Robert Norris and sister, Julia Byer.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 55 years, Howard Haven; 5 children, Karen (Chuck) Fausch of Ankeny, IA, Janis (Neal) Sanford of Parma, Nancy (Leonard) Litteral of Jackson, Marcia (Stan) Weldy of Middle Point, OH, John (Connie) Haven of Grayling; 12 grandchildren, Ann (Jonathan) Reinhard, April (Jerry) Cullum, Brian (Jenny), Gregory (Alysa) & Christopher Sanford, Laura (Joe) Opera, Michael Litteral, Timothy & Ethan Weldy, James, Iva & Hannah Haven; 1 great-grandson, Dylan Sanford; 2 sisters, Maxine Ferguson of Gaylord, Janet (Clayton) Elston of Eaton Rapids; 2 sisters-in-law, Gertrude Norris of Eaton Rapids, Lois Shultz of FL; brother-in-law, Samuel Wayne Byer of Holt; and many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 E. Main, Eaton Rapids with Pastor William Muler officiating and interment will follow at Tompkins Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids with an 8:00 p.m. service Wednesday by OES #150, Mason. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Onondaga Community Church Building Fund or Jackson County 4-H Foundation in the memory of Phyllis Haven.
Agnes M. Haywood
Agnes M. Haywood, 81, of Olivet, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. Mrs. Haywood was born Sept. 2, 1925 in Charlotte the daughter of Herman and Minnie (McDonald) Cooper.
Mrs. Haywood was an active member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild.
She enjoyed golfing, walking, bowling, traveling and her Bridge Club. Mrs. Haywood was very proud of her children and family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Julius Michael; second husband, Charles Haywood; brother, James Cooper and sister Alice Fuller.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Michael of Olivet, Douglas (Helen) Michael of Olivet, Martin (Lynn) Haywood of Simpsonville, S.C.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; step children, Charles Haywood Jr. of Eaton Rapids, Robert Haywood of Shepherd, Ronald Haywood of Eaton Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Lansing, with Rev. Gary Bunge officiating. Interment will be at Deepdale Cemetery in Lansing.
If desired, memorial contributions maybe made to the Alzheimer's Association or the America Lung Association.

Brian Heeney
Brian W. Heeney, 22, of Stockbridge, Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. He was born April 14, 1984 in Jackson, the son of William and Carrie (Stephens) Heeney.
Brian had lived in the Stockbridge area all of his life. He graduated from Stockbridge High School in 2002 and worked for Dart Container in Mason. Brian was known to all as the "Wild Child.” He loved anything with four wheels and a motor. He loved racing cars, and raced with the family racing team, Heeney Racing. He also loved snowmobiling, fishing and golfing. Brian is survived by his parents, his sister Tracey Heeney and her fiancé Tom Hernly, of Lansing, his paternal grandmother, Juanita Heeney, of Stockbridge, his maternal grandparents, Velton (Ima) Stephens, of Munith, his aunts and uncles: Sandra (Pat) Clark and Margie (Dan) Clark, all of Munith, Connie (Todd) Lee, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Richard (Laura) Stephens, of Texas, Velton Jr. (Sue) Stephens, of Munith, Jim (Tammie) Heeney, of Stockbridge, also several cousins, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Cox. His tragic death was also shared with his cousin, Bradley Clark. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Heeney Sr.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006 at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church in Bunker Hill, with Fr. Michael Petroski and Fr. Eugene Beiter co-celebrating. Memorial contributions may be made to Spartan Speedway in memory of Brian W. Heeney.
Francis W. Heinze
Francis Wilson “Bub” Heinze, 70, of Potterville, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006 at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, after a battle with cancer.
Mr. Heinze was born Dec. 7, 1935 in the family home in Potterville, the son of Ordail and Ruth (Mitchell) Heinze. Frank served in the armed services for 25 years – three in the Army and 22 with the Air Force, retiring in 1975. He was a veteran of both Korea and Vietnam. He was the former owner of the Sugar Hut Restaurant in Vermontville until 1983 and Baci’s Eatery in Potterville from 1994 to 1996. Bub and Veralee had also resided in Lake Hills, Texas, from 1983 to 1994, where he was employed as a cook for crews on oil drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and also operated two restaurants, Heinze’s Family Restaurant and Vera’s Kitchen. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, cooking, and winning at cards, especially euchre.
He is survived by; his wife of 48 years, Veralee (Mitchell) Heinze; children, Vince Heinze of Lowell, Celeste (Izak) Saul of Lake Odessa, Tammy (Rodney) Lumbert of Charlotte; grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Heinze, Darin Durkee and Ty Lumbert; step-mother, Bera Heinze; brothers, Arnold (LouAnn) Heinze of Lake Placid, Fla., Orville Heinze of Sebring, Fla., Richard (Anna) Heinze of Potterville, and Rachel Roan of Detour Village.
Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Mark Slocum officiating.
Interment was at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
Vera A. Heinze
Vera A. Heinze, 87, of Potterville, died after a long illness Dec. 1, 2006. Mrs. Heinze was born July 20, 1919 in Lansing, the daughter of Melvin and Clara (Renner) Mishler.
She retired from Reo and also had worked in the office J.W. Knapps.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Ordail F. Heinze; sisters, Gladys Wing; brothers, Melvin, William, Rex and Duane Mishler; step daughters, Rachael Roan and Bonnie DePriest; and step-son, Frances Heinze.
She is survived by step-sons, Arnold (Luanne) Heinze of Lake Placid, Fla., Orville Heinze of Sebring, Fla. and Richard (Anna) Heinze of Potterville; stepdaughter-in-law, Vera Lee Heinze of Charlotte; brother Donald (Joyce) Mishler of Potterville; sister, Nan (Charles) Lane of Nashville; sisters-in-law, Yvonne, Patricia, Marge, Kay and Elaine; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Dec. 7 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Mark Slocum officiating. Interment was at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Benton Township Fire Department or Potterville Nazarene Church.
