Wanda M. Helser
Wanda M. Helser, 88, of Charlotte, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at Dimondale Nursing Care Center.
Mrs. Helser was born July 31, 1917 in Milan, Washtenaw County, the daughter of Ernest and Fay (Van Wormer) Schnurstein. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Charlotte and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9400 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Surviving are her son, Larry (Deborah) Helser of Holt, and two grandsons, Christian and Marshall Helser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Helser, on May 2, 2003.
Combined memorial services for Wanda and Marshall Helser will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 13 at First Lutheran Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Timothy Olson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church, 550 E. Shepherd St., Charlotte, MI 48813. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Dorothy M. Hennings
Dorothy M. Hennings, 88, of Charlotte, dies Dec. 27, 2006. Mrs. Hennings was born Jan. 9, 1918 in Eaton County the daughter of Ernest and Marble (VanTyle) Wenger.
Mrs. Hennings was a loving, kind, honest, caring, compassionate person who was concerned about others. She enjoyed crocheting, game shows, and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Henning’s family was one of the most important parts of her life, with her grandchildren spending lots of time at grandma’s house. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in May 2004.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Sandy) Hennings of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jerry (Eva) Hennings of Sunfield, Roger (Pam) Hennings of Charlotte; and five great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Kyle, Katelyn, Kristopher and Kevin.
Funeral services were Dec. 30, with Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Interment was at Needmore Cemetery in Charlotte. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice House.

Gerald A. Heppe
Gerald A. Heppe, 64, of Potterville died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at the Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte, after his battle with cancer with his loving family at his side. Mr. Heppe was born April 23, 1942 in Ionia, the son of Alvin John and Ida (Ketner) Heppe.
He worked as a tool and die setter for General Motors for 33 years until his retirement in 1999. He had a great love of fishing, was a big Spartans fan and was interested in Massey Harris tractors. He loved being with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother-in-law, Hope Perez; and stepfather, Robert Emerson.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda (Perez) Heppe; son, Gerald Alvin (Wendy) Heppe II of Battle Creek and daughter, Melinda (Jeffrey) Wood of Charlotte; adopted daughter, Pilar (Andres) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Devon, Bailey, Diedrich and Marissa; mother, Ida Emerson; brothers and sisters, Sandi Long, Richard Perry, Russell Heppe, Janet Bowman and Lori Rolison.
Funeral services were Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Chaplain Don Sleeman officiating. Interment was at West Windsor Cemetery in Dimondale. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice House or the Breslin Cancer Center.

William C. Hester
William C. Hester, 74, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Mr. Hester was born June 27, 1932 in Henderson, Ky., the son of William and Kathryn (Smith) Hester.
Mr. Hester was a talented man for having raised himself since his mother passed away when he was seven. He developed skills as a bricklayer and carpenter, and later worked as a long distance truck driver, until his retirement from K-mart Corporation. He loved scenic drives down back roads, being in control of the TV-clicker, and "manning the grill" for gatherings with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; son, William (Kris) Hester, Jr. of Charlotte; daughters, Kathy (Ronald) Sullivan of Dimondale, Cheril Lynn Story and (Lynn Glasslee) of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and brother, Roger Hester of Evansville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Charles.
Funeral services were held July 29 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Mark Woodbury officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo Township.

Murrell A. Hickling
Murrell A. Hickling, 90, of Olivet, formerly of Grand Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006 at Eaton Community Hospice House.
Murrell was born June 6, 1915 in Reading, the son of John Henry and Mable (Plumb) Hickling and had been an Olivet resident for about 10 years. He was a retired truck driver, having owned and operated his own truck, and had also been the owner of two restaurants.
Murrell spent lots of time at his cabin near Kalkaska, enjoyed watching loons, and pike fishing. He enjoyed his woodshop, making toys and useful things for fun and profit. He was known for his enjoyment of classical literature and music, love of mathematics and devotion to his dog, Missy. He was a 60-year Tiger baseball and Red Wings hockey fan and enjoyed riding his Indian Motorcycle.
Surviving are: son, Steve (Jeanie); four grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Jeffery and Emily; step-daughter, Barbara (Jerry) Weed; three step-grandchildren; niece, Edna Peavyhouse; nephew, Jim Mitchell; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary (McTavish) Hickling, in 1983; sisters, Pearl Mitchell and Ethel Hickling; and brothers, Homer, Ray, Burr, Ted and Earl.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held Feb. 26 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Jim Mitchell officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Florence May Hill
Florence May Hill, age 91, of Holt and formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006. She was born September 3, 1914 in Bedford, Mass., the daughter of John and Florence (Atkin) Bell. May was a former Transcriber for Mason General Hospital and attended the Aurelius Baptist Church. Her hobbies included crocheting, playing cards, bingo, dancing and socializing and she formerly had a residence at Rose Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor and 2 brothers, Thomas and Johnny O. Bell.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Allingham of Onondaga and son, Ronald Hill of Lake City; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Harry Bell, Dorothy Hughes, Bill Bell and Gladys Studer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 1:00 pm at the Aurelius Baptist church in Aurelius Township. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Aurelius Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of May Hill.
Imogene Hixson
Imogene Hixson, 80, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, April 5, 1926 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Albert and Gladys (Roberts) Klinker.
Mrs. Hixon was a secretary. She was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed flower gardening and making arrangements with flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Celeste (Bill) Newhouse of Charlotte; son, Drew (Joan) Hixson of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Marissa, Andrew, Chad, Chelsea, Cody; five great grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Helen) Klinker; three sisters, Rosemary Krebs, Carrie (Bill) Miller, Sue (Nick) Kliebusch; and sever nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Katie Hixon; her parents and her sister, Eloise.
A private family service will be held.

Mildred M. Hoadley
Mildred Mary Hoadley (Midge), 99, passed away July 31, 2006. Mrs. Hoadley was born Jan. 6, 1907 in Lansing, the daughter of Fredrick and Pearl Marshall.
Mrs. Hoadley moved to Bellevue where she attended school. Midge relocated back to Lansing in 1928 where she worked for General Motors for 25 years and then retired from Ingham Medical Hospital. After retirement she then spent winters in Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hoadley in 1968.
She is survived by her son, Donald Hoadley; grandsons, Donnie, Scotty, Michael and Joey Copeland; sisters, Rhea Wilkes and Geraldine Gordon; nephews, Chris (Linda) Wilkes, Vance (Kathy) Saunders, Kirk (Renee) Saunders, Brett (Joy) Saunders, Rick Hoadley; two nieces, Junie K. (William) Baker and Becky Hoadley; daughter-in-law, Cindy Hoadley and step-grandson, Andy; and several great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Aug. 3 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mason with Pastor Carol Spangenberg officiating. If desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Episcopal Church.
