Dale Kunkel
Dale F. Kunkel, 70, of Eaton Rapids died March 29, 2006 in Eaton Rapids. He was born in Shelbyville Jan. 20, 1936, the son of Fred and Laura (Blausey) Kunkel.
Mr. Kunkel was a lifetime farmer and owned an organic farm in rural Eaton Rapids. He was a member of the Assembly of Yahweh in Eaton Rapids.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Alfred Wittman and Lao Kunkel; and sister, Eleanora Vasquez.
Surviving are sisters June Johncock of Olivet, May Getter of Eaton Rapids and Louisa Nail of Marshall; brother, Ronald Kunkel of Eaton Rapids and 32 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held April 3 at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Rosehill Cemetery.
V. Ruth Larson
V. Ruth Larson, 94, of Charlotte, formerly of Wyoming, Mich., passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2006 at the Dimondale Center.
Ruth was born Aug. 25, 1911 in Big Rapids, the daughter of Elige and Eva (Murrow) Shadowens.
She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert Jourden of Charlotte; grandchildren, Julie (Leland) Hammel of Ramsey, Minn., Deborah (David) Nelson of Stafford, Va., Kimberly Jourden of Paw Paw; special friend, Lori Harris of Paw Paw; great-grandchildren, Robert, William and Kathleen Hammel, and Amanda, Rebecca and Michael Nelson; sister-in-law, Frances Shadowens; niece, Marilyn Hosford; nephew, Robert Shadowens; and many great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; infant daughter, Darlene Jean; her parents; brothers, Alvin and Carl; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Shadowens.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at Church of Christ in Charlotte, with Thomas Haynie officiating. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice House.
Robert E. Lea
Robert E. Lea, Sr., 81, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006. Mr. Lea was born Feb. 4, 1925 in Barryton, the son of Edward and Ella Lea.
Mr. Lea worked 40 years for Aluminum Extrusions and retired from Linn Products. After retirement he drove cars for Davis Pontiac, Team One and Candy Ford. Mr. Lea had a passion for dancing, you could find him in some of the local dance halls such as Country Fever, Lake Odessa Grange or Maple Leaf Grange.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 1995 and daughter, Marie Victoria in 2003.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Teresa) Lea, Jr. of Charlotte; three grandsons, Robert (Renee) E. Lea, III, Christopher Eugene Lea, Jason Carroll Lea all of Charlotte; three great-granddaughters, Halie Michelle Lea, Paige Marie Lea and Avery Lynn Lea; brother, Glen "Buster" Lea of Lake Odessa.
Funeral services were held Aug. 25 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Reverend Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Charles LeSeney
Charles Raymond LeSeney, 73, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006. Mr. LeSeney was born Jan. 18, 1933 in Diamondale, the son of Claude Samuel and Alta (Franklin) LeSeney.
He served in the Army. He worked as a machine operator at AE/Hoover. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, walking, fishing, sports, reading and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Myrna Ann LeSeney.
He Is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dixie; daughter Lori Olcott (Frank Miranda); son, Kevin Charles LeSeney; grandchildren, Benjamin, Amber and Alisha Olcott; and sisters, Bernadine Waterbury and Ruth Fulton.
A memorial service was held Oct. 18 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was in Windsor Township Cemetery, Dimondale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church of Charlotte and/or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Hilda A. Leseney
Hilda A. Leseney, age 90 passed away from this earth to her heavenly home on May 5, 2006 at Hospice Care, Fitchburg, Wi. She was born on December 1, 1915 to Minna (Sitz) and William Wagner in Kokenkuchen, Germany. Hilda came to the U.S. in 1924 through Ellis Island with her family. She grew up in the Madison area, graduation from West High School. She worked at the Memorial Union for a number of years and through a friend met Harry LeSeney. At the end of World War II, Hilda and Harry were married on September 15th, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky. They returned to Harry's hometown of Eaton Rapids, Michigan to farm. Hilda's husband died in November of 1991 and in 2000 after more than 50 years in Michigan, Hilda returned to the Madison area to live in senior housing in Verona and most recently at Sylvan Crossing, in Fitchburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry, 3 brothers, Otto E. Wagner, Richard Wagner and William A. Wagner, 2 sisters, Rose Frei and Erna Schuler. She is survived by a younger sister, Freida Schneider, of Florida, and sister-in-law, Lillian Wagner, nieces and nephews, in the Madison area, Alice (Dale) Doering, Rosemary (Dan) Lange, Al (Roberta) Frei, Richard Wagner, Fred (Pat) Wagner, Robert (Lisa) Wagner, Ronald Wagner as well as other relatives and friends throughout the U.S.A. Hilda was a gracious as well as an independent lady, with strong faith to see her through. We'll miss her.
Funeral services were held at Midvale Community Lutheran Church, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, Wi. on Monday, May 8, 2006. Graveside services for Hilda will be Thursday, May 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Deepdale Memorial Park in Lansing, Mi. Local arrangements through the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Durwood Voight Litchfield
Durwood Voight Litchfield, 84, passed away Oct. 26 at Hospice House of Mid Michigan in Lansing.
He was born Feb. 22, 1922 in Wacousta, son of Roy and Retta (Shaffer) Litchfield. Durwood served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II as a Staff Sergeant. After leaving the Army, he worked 30 years with General Motors in skilled trade. Since retirement he has enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and spending winters in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Litchfield.
Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl Figg; daughter-in-law Betty Sefton; grandchildren, Theresa (Joel) Riebow, Angela Figg, Michael (Kristi) Figg, David Litchfield, and Steven (Heather) Litchfield; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Andrew, and Madalyn; and many nieces and nephews, who affectionately called him Uncle Chub.
Services were held Oct. 30 at Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel, Sunfield, with Rev. Roy R. Atherton of the Sunfield United Brethren Church officiating. Military honors and committal service followed at the Sunfield Cemetery.

Toby Livingston
Toby Jonathon Livingston, of Charlotte arrived to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006. He is survived by his parents; Jonathon and Rebecca (Vedder) Livingston; brother, Warren Livingston; sister, Lily Livingston; grandparents, Marc and Joy Livingston and Bryant and Brenda Vedder of Charlotte; great grandparents, Kenneth and Carol Olson, Keith and Martha Moore, Keith and Roberta Vedder and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at noon at Chester Gospel Church withPastor Jeff Olson Officiating. A private interment was held at Gresham Cemetery in Chester Township. Visitation was held 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at Chester Gospel Church.
Gordon A. Lovell
Gordon Arby Lovell, 93, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006.
Mr. Lovell was born Nov. 7, 1912 in Vermontville, the son of Arby and Minnie (Campbell) Lovell. He owned Lovell Implements in Vermontville and also one in Charlotte for 37 years before retiring. He was a past member of Charlotte Rotary Club, an active member of the Lions Club in Vermontville, a member of the Flying Farmers and the Vermontville Fire Department. Mr. Lovell was a member of the Vermontville United Methodist Church and a school board member. He was a founding member of the Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival and served as grand marshal. Mr. Lovell was proud of his family, loved wiener roasts in the snow, flying, woodworking and travel.
He is survived by: daughter, Donna Jeanne (Don) Tirrell of Charlotte; son, Kendall (Joanne) Lovell of Portland; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Wright of Charlotte; and dear friend; Joan Nicely.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarette, in 1997, and a brother, Ellis Lovell.
Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice or R.E. Olds Transportation Museum.
JoAnn B. Lowes
JoAnn B. Lowes of Haslett passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, after a short illness.
She graduated from Dunbar High School in Charleston, W.V. in 1952, and went on to attend McMillan School of Nursing, graduating in 1956, and worked as a registered nurse for many years. Later on, she received her Bachelor's degree and Master's degree from Michigan State University. She retired in 1997 from CEI Community Mental Health, where she worked for 23 years as a psychologist. She was a member of the East Lansing Arts Choral and Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Barker and Katie Barker Brennan; and sisters, Diane and Sylvia.
She is survived by three children, Kathleen (fiancé, Matthew Hetes) Lepsy of Howell; Karen (Michael) Perkins of Sterling Heights; and Bradley Lowes of Haslett; four grandchildren, Sean and Nicholas Lepsy of Howell and Michael and Chris Perkins of Sterling Heights. Also surviving are five nieces, one nephew, many friends, and her beloved cats, Dolly, Taz and Twinkle.
Graveside services for her family were held Nov. 14 An open house in celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at the home of Doreen K. Woodward, 5819 Bois Ile Drive, Haslett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Leukemia Foundation or to Doreen K. Woodward for JoAnn's grandsons' college education.
