Audrey Lorraine Overla
Audrey Lorraine Overla of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Mesick, age 90, passed away Monday, July 10, 2006 in Eaton Rapids. Audrey was born December 31, 1915 in Mesick, MI, the daughter of Nelson Aaron and Olive May (Bulock) Spencer. She was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Olivet. Preceded in death by her husband, Melville Overla in 1975 and sister, Crystal Armstrong in 2006.
Audrey is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly (Kenneth) Oliver and Carole (Albert) Clark, both of Eaton Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Russell Oliver, Mel (Lori) Oliver, Elaine (Earl) Schnepp, Todd (Lisa) Clark; Lucinda (Christopher) Staszuk, Chancy (Bobby) Clark; 18 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lloyd Spencer and Chancy (Gertrude) Spencer, both of Mesick; brother-in-law, William Armstrong of Mesick; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday July 13, 2006 at the Sherman Gospel Hall in Sherman, MI and interment followed at Antioch Cemetery in Wexford Country. Visitation was held at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. .
Larry “Porky” Jon Owen
“On the morning of June 4th, the Lord opened His Arms to welcome Larry “Porky” Jon Owen to take his place beside his maternal grandparents Martina and Idella Owen.” Larry served our country in the U.S. Army with great pride from 1967-1973 when he received an honorable discharge. His hobbies included taking long drives and seeing whatever there may be to see.
Larry will be greatly missed by is wife, Teresa (Gray) Owen, children, Larry, Gary, Samantha and Sam; cousin Herb (Sherri) Owen longtime friend Phil (Ellen) Beam, and brother-in-law Gary (Linda) Gray. He is also survived by children; Dale (Beth) Owen, Gloria (Scott) Clark, Lisa (Charles) Meyers, Steven Owen, mother; Shirley Norton, sisters; Mary (Robert) Osman, Gale Williams, Katie (Wayne) Jones, Bonnie (Dick) Clafton, Leria (Dale) Hall and brother Duane (Jan) Norton.
Upon Larry’s request there will be no services. His cremains will be interred at the North Aurelius Cemetery at a later date along side his grandparents.
Robert J. Page
Robert J. Page, 79, of Charlotte, died Thursday, May 4, 2006. Mr. Page was born Dec. 17, 1926 in Delta Township, the son of Ray and Mary (Smith) Page.
Mr. Page was employed by Oldsmobile of Lansing for 35 years, working his way up from an apprenticeship position to become superintendent of maintenance at three plants. In 1945 and 1946 he was a medic as a Naval Marine and walked the Great Wall of China.
Mr. Page enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and playing pool. He was an avid reader of history an spent 24 years of winters in Mesa, Arizona. He spent his summers at Long Lake in Ionia County until moving to Charlotte in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beryle E. Field; and a brother, Ray A. Page, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Brown); two sons, Jerry (Shelley) of Caledonia and Jeffrey (Irene) of Howell; four grandchildren, Katrina, Kristin, Scott and Kerry; a great grandson, Colin; a sister, Mary Lou (Russell) Whitney of Lakeland, FL; five brothers, Jack (Betty) of Charlotte, Don (Elaine) of Charlotte, Ernest (Eloise) of Olivet and Dennis (Joyce) of Denton, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held May 9 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Brood officiating. Interment was in Deepdale Cemetery in Lansing.

Martha M. Palmer
Martha M. Palmer of Eaton Rapids, age 82, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 in Lansing. Martha was born February 13, 1924 in Lapel, IN, the daughter of Russell and Nina May (Lewis) DeWitt. Preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Tian Sheldon in 2002.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bill Palmer; 2 daughters, Sharon (Jerry) Tooke and Debbie (Bob) Carpenter, all of Eaton Rapids; 2 sons, Richard “Bud” (Margaruiette) Garrison of Charlotte, Herbert Sayles of Eaton Rapids; 8 grandchildren, Alicia (Kevin) Taylor, Brian Tooker, Stephen (Virginia) Shelden II, William Shelden, Katina Shelden, Tia Sayles, Carleen (Scott) Travelbee and John Garrison; 9 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Oakwood Cemetery, Spicerville Hwy., Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.
Gladys A. Parker
Gladys Amelia Parker, age 99, of Charlotte passed away Saturday morning, May 13, 2006 in East Lansing.
Miss Parker was born Jan. 13, 1907 in Eaton County, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur Eli and Mina Caroline (Klaiss) Parker. She had worked as as a secretary for a credit bureau and was known as "The" babysitter in town. She had been a piano teacher, a member of the Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and its choir, the family historian and loved crocheting and needlework.
She is survived by her nephew, Thomas (Jean) Parker of East Lansing; and sister, Estella Fleming of Seal Beach, California.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 15, 2006 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Kendall Lewis officiating. Interment was held in the Maple Hill Cemetery.

Helen Elaine Parsons
Helen Elaine Parsons of Eaton Rapids, age 56, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006 in Lansing. Helen was born July 10, 1950 in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was a member of the Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Albion and retired from Eaton Intermediate Schools in 2005. Preceded in death by her father, Ireland Adkins; 6 brothers and sisters, Sanford, Barbara Jean, Randall Lee, Patricia Ann, Bobbie Lee and Kimmie.
Helen is the loving daughter of Thelma Adkins of Eaton Rapids; the loving mother of her daughter, Dede Parsons of Eaton Rapids and son, Dean (Angie Keating) Parsons, Jr. of Springport, and 2 grandchildren, Dakota & Derek Keating. Also surviving are 1 brother, Fred (Dawn) Adkins of Eaton Rapids and 2 nieces, Miracle and Jade Adkins.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Grace Free Will Baptist Church, 16680 E. Michigan, Albion with Pastor Earl Martin officiating. Interment followed at Munger Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Grace Free Will Baptist church in memory of Helen Parsons. Beatrice I. Partridge
Beatrice I. Partridge, 89, of Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006. Mrs. Partridge was born May 20, 1917 in Lansing, the daughter of Pearl and Mary (Lemon) Weldon.
Mrs. Partridge enjoyed crossword puzzles, making latch hook rugs and loved to visit the local casino.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar in 1984; son and daughter-in-law, Albert (Connie) Partridge; sister, Gladys Beardslee; and brother, Albert Weldon of Dimondale.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Chester) Beardslee of Onekama; son, Edward (Mary) Partridge of Grand Ledge; daughter, Patty (Terry) Ellsworth of Lake; 23 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 40 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Nellie Harmon of New Mexico.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 9 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastor Art Salisbury officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo Township.

Edward R. Pease
Edward Robert Pease, 89, of Charlotte, died Feb. 23, 2006.
Mr. Pease was born Dec. 1, 1916 in Kalamo Township, the son of Edward and Carrie (Bowen) Pease, Sr. Mr. Pease was a member of Kalamo United Methodist Church, and the Association for Retarded Citizens. Ed was a 60-year member and past master of Kalamo Masonic Lodge 327, worthy patron of Kalamo Eastern Star Chapter 399, past high priest for Horace S. Maynard Chapter 82 RAM and a member of the Charlotte Commandery 37 KT. He worked as a tractor mechanic for Wertz Implement in Charlotte and retired in 1982.
He is survived by: daughters, Carolyn (Gary) LaCross, Cheryl and Christine Pease, all of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) LaCross of Manton and Jill (Adam) Potter of Charlotte; three great-grandchildren, Tray Hammer, Joel and Laine Potter; sisters, Mary (Carl) Eisenlord of Battle Creek; sister-in-law, Frances Pease of Bellevue; sister-in-law, Joyce (Bernard) Otto of Bellevue; sister-in-law, June Visgar of Charlotte; and special friend of the family, Hope Smith.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Velma, in 2001; sisters, Hazel Godde, Dorothy Franks and Mable Hamilton; and brothers, Floyd, Donald, George, Clifford and Harry Pease.
Funeral services were held Feb. 27 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue Township. A Masonic and Eastern Star service was held Feb. 26, followed by an Affirmation Service conducted by Pastor Bryce Feighner at Pray Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bellevue Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Darwin R. Pefley
Darwin R. Pefley, 78, of Charlotte, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006. Mr. Pefley was born Dec. 22, 1927 in Manistee the son of Walter and Ruth (Sell) Pefley.
He served his country during World War II, was a member of the VFW in Arizona where he and his wife wintered, and had been a pipefitter for General Motors until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, watching U of M football and Tiger baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Rogene (Ringel) Pefley; daughters, Sandy (Keith) July of Charlotte and Darlene (Harold) Foutch of Flint; two grandchildren, Michael and Mark July; one great-grandchild, Elizabeth July; brother, Robert (Betty) Pefley of Manistee; sister, Betty (Warren) Milks of Winter Haven, Fla.; and granddogs, Suzee, Shellie Belle, Benjamin, Dee Dee and Daisy.
A funeral service was held Nov. 21 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Chaplain Janine McGill officiating. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 865 S. Cedar St. Mason, Mich., 48854, or the Eaton Community Hospice House in Charlotte.
