Albert Perkins
Albert Perkins, 66, of Charlotte, died Jan. 10, 2006.
Mr. Perkins was born April 2, 1939 in Bath, the son of Ed Albert and Irene (Clauson) Perkins. Albert was devoted to his family; he was proud of his children and the accomplishments of each. He was a handyman who helped his family and sisters with his experience and taught his grandchildren wooodworking skills. Albert loved to barbecue, fishing, spending time with his Army buddies and going “baja-ing” in the jeep.
He is survived by mother, Irene Clauson; wife, Charlene; daughters, Christine Perkins, Kim (Randle) Perkins-Lindsey, Lisa (John) Watson and Brenda Waite; son, Michael Perkins; step-daughters, Candy Gore, Cindy Admire and Angie (Mark) Bailey; 24 grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren; sister Betty Prenos, Pauline (John) Abfalter, Linda (Steve) Bretz, Claudian (Tootie) Zirga; and brothers, Dennis (Ruth) and David.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Albert, and a daughter, Lynne Ann Perkins,
Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Chuck Jenson officiating.

Clyde E. Perkins
Clyde E. Perkins of Springport, formerly of Eaton Rapids, age 91, passed away November 2, 2006 in Delhi Twp., Ingham County, MI. Clyde was former owner of Eaton Rapids Bowling Alley, former President of CIO, former bookkeeper and salesperson and was an avid bowler, golfer and gardener. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hazel.
He is survived by is two sons, Terry (Sharon) Perkins of Chippewa Lake, MI and John (Marcia) of San Marcos, CA; daughter, June Lyn Perkins of Ventura, CA; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 6, 2006 from the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Pastor Molly Turner of the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Roselyn A. Perron
Roselyn A. Perron, 87, of Lake City died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. Mrs. Perron was born March 27, 1919 in Escanaba the daughter of John and Petronella (Jaeger) Ammel.
Mrs. Perron was a cook at St Mary’s Catholic School in Lansing. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to sew and was a big Tiger’s fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. “Stick” Perron in 1990 and son-in-law, Gerald Gladstone in 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Gladstone of Charlotte; son, Ray (Janet) Perron of East Lansing; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister Mary Grace “Mim” Kabosic of Escanaba; brothers-inn-law, Howard (Blanche) Perron and Bob (Eileen) Perron; favorite niece, Ellie O’Donnell.
Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte with Father Mike Murphy officiating. Interment was held at Charlotte Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Punta Gorda, Fla.

John Ellis Perry Sr.
John Ellis Perry Sr., age 74 of Eaton Rapids died Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte. John served as a staff sergeant during the Korean War and earned several medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor. He was a retired Inspector for Fisher Body serving 37 years, a former EMT for the Eaton Rapids Ambulance Dept. and a member of the Community Christian Church in Eaton Rapids. Preceding him in death are his parents, Harold and Doris Perry; daughter, Suellen Whaley and daughter-in-law, Jeannine Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth (Austin) Perry; 2 sons, John Jr. (Lis) of Clinton, MI. and Matthew (Renee) of Pulaski, TN.; 5 grandchildren, James (Judy) Whaley Jr.; Aaron Perry, John Perry, Juli Whaley and Sarah Perry; 3 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, James Whaley Sr.; brother, James (Naomi) Perry of Davison, MI.; 6 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16th from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. Burial followed with full military honors at the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
William J. Pertner
William James “Jim” Pertner, age 63, of Bellevue, passed away April 30, 2006 at home. He was born Jan. 13, 1943, the son of William P. and Carol (Bartlett) Pertner in Traverse City.
At age 22, after serving five years in the U.S. Air Force, Jim made the decision to enter the police force. Once he completed training in Lansing, he landed his first job in 1966 as a trooper for the Rockford Post. In 1968, Jim transferred over to the Flint MSP Post, and in 1973, he was promoted to sergeant at the Battle Creek MSP Post. Six years later, in 1979 Jim was promoted to platoon lieutenant for the Detroit Freeway MSP Post and in June of 1980, he joined the ranks of Brighton MSP Post as commander. Jim retired Jan. 1, 1994.
Jim was a member of the F.O.P. Mary Coleman Lodge #153, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, past member of Big Brother/Big Sisters in Livingston County and the Brighton Rotary Club in which he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was an Eagle Scout award recipient, receiving the Harnaday Conservation Award and the Ad Altari Dei, religious scouting award. He was also active in many other community organizations.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Pertner, brother, Terry Pertner, and stepfather, Noah Plamondon.
He is survived by is wife, Jacqueline Belanger whom he married on April 24, 1965 in Lake Leelanau.
Also surviving are children, Travis Pertner of Holland, Paige (Scott) Fedewa of Charlotte, Kelly (Scott) Rains of Sturgis, Tracy (Haja) Mohaidheen of West Bloomfield, Brooke Pertner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his mother, Carol Plamondon of Lake Leelanau; grandchildren, Shelby, Emily, Jared, Sidney, Elton, Eliot, and Naeem; brothers, Allen (Elizabeth) Pertner of Boulder, CO, Otto Pertner of Northville, and sisters, Amy (Tom) Nugent of Hastings and Janet (Chuck) Smith of Milford.
Jeffrey E. Peters
Jeffrey E. Peters of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at his home in Battle Creek. He was born Feb. 22, 1962 in Detroit the son of William E. and Etta Jane (Weaver) Peters.
Jeff attended school in Dearborn and then in Charlotte. He joined the United States Army in 1979 and fulfilled his duties stationed at the Panama Canal. Jeff enjoyed being an artist and working on crafts as his past-time. He worked for Techomseh Motors before coming to Battle Creek for medical care.
Jeff was preceded in death by his brothers, William Howard; his step-mother, Elma Peters; maternal grandparents, Howard and Marjorie Weaver; and great-grandparents, Clarence and Luella Little.
He is survived by his father, William E. Peters; his mother and step-father, Norm and Etta Jane Hall; his sister, Cynthia (Richard) Hettinga; a nephew, Addam Wentzel and a niece, Holly (Adam) Osmun; and their three children.
Memorials services will be held Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. at William Peter's home, 3112 Valley Hwy., Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made directed to American Cancer Society or St. Judes Hospital.
Judith A. Peyton
Judith Ann (Moss) Peyton, 67, of Eaton Rapids passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at Ingham Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Judy was born Sept. 8, 1939 in Albion, the daughter of Franklin and Vivian (Stonesifer) Moss.
Judy was a dedicated mother and grandmother and a former member of Griffith United Methodist Church. She had a great love of music and loved to sing. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, crafts, and spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sharon (Moss) Twitchell.
She is survived by her son Derrick (Paula) Peyton of Olivet; daughter Michelle (David) Babcock of Eaton Rapids; brother Larry Moss of Springport; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Griffith United Methodist Church, Eaton Rapids, with Pastor Darrell Hodge officiating. Inurnment of cremains is planned for a later date at Clarence Center Cemetery.
Albert J. Pierce
Albert J. Pierce, 81 of DeWitt, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at Sparrow Health Systems in Lansing.
Mr. Pierce was born December 22, 1924 in Holt, the son of Burr and Mary (Swathwood) Pierce. He was the past owner and proprietor of Darling Builders Supply company in Lansing for 33 years before his retirement in 1980. He served during World War II in the South Pacific in a medical detachment for the 82nd Signal Battalion. He was a proud past member of the DeWitt school board, raised his family in that area and divided his time between there and Florida where he and his wife Irene had many good friends. He was a generous, caring and loving husband, dad and grandfather.
He and his wife, Irene Zeeb Pierce, who survives him, were married May 26, 1984. Also surviving are sons Michael (Carol) Pierce of Lansing, Patrick (Linda) Pierce of Traverse City; daughter, Brenda (Raymond) Wade of DeWitt; stepchildren, Brian (Debra) Zeeb of DeWitt, Christine (Marty) Levy of Santa Clara, Calif., Jeff (Jean) Starrak of Ft. Myers, Fla., Brett (Beverly) Starrak of Dimondale, Tim (Angie) Starrak of Ft. Myers, Fla., Scott Starrak of Ovid; and grandchildren; Brett Pierce, Brad Pierce, Suzie Wade, Andy Wade, Michael Peters, Nikki Fowler, Joel Zeeb, David Starrak, Joel Starrak, Tony Starrak, Maria Starrak; and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Sondra (Gerald) Hughes of Charlotte, Cheryl (Roland) Deadman of Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Catherine (David) Lewis of Flint.
A memorial gathering was held Nov. 16, followed by a memorial service at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI. with Pastor Robin Crouch officiating. Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
