Daron S. Fullerton
Daron Sean Fullerton, 35, of Battle Creek, formerly of Charlotte, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 at Battle Creek Health Systems after an extended illness.
Daron was born July 8, 1969 in Eaton Rapids, and had been a Battle Creek resident for two years, coming from Charlotte. He had been employed by Care Free Products Co. in Charlotte.
Surviving are his wife, Patti Fullerton of Battle Creek; mother and stepfather, Sharon (Crandall) and Allan Dimitroff of Lansing; grandmother Bess Crandall of Charlotte; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services were held Nov. 29 at First Lutheran Church in Charlotte, with Pastor Timothy Olson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Dorothy L. Furgason
Dorothy L. Furgason of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Jackson, age 93, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 in Eaton Rapids. Dorothy was born January 30, 1911 in Jackson, the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Meeks) Pohl. She retired as a bookkeeper for A. C. Aukerman Cement Co. in Jackson and was a member of the Child Study Club of Jackson, the Jackson Civic Art Assoc. and the Continental Dancing Club. She was also a long time member of the Eaton Rapids Senior Center. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Claude in 1993.
Surviving are her 4 sons, Charles R. (Linda) Furgason of Jackson, Leigh B. (Linda) Furgason of Pentwater, William (Holly) Furgason of Jackson, Thom Furgason of Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Wendi (Rick) Walker, Todd (Rachel) Furgason, Chad (Amanda) Furgason, Kim (Ron) Pavlack, Brian (Teresa) Furgason, John Furgason; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Evelyn Murphy of Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. There will be a time to visit with her family one hour before the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Eaton Rapids Senior Center in memory of Dorothy Furgason.
Phyllis J. Garlinger
Phyllis J. Garlinger, age 84, of Hastings, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Garlinger was born March 25, 1919 in Freeport, the daughter of Burt and Jenni (Coleman) Long. She was raised in the Freeport/Hastings area and attended are schools, graduating from Hastings High School in 1936. In July of 1938 in Byron, Ohio, she married Phillip Garlinger. The couple spent their lives together raising their family in the Nashville area. Mrs. Garlinger was a devoted homemaker who loved her family dearly. Together with her husband, she enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing cribbage. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she cherished. The couple enjoyed wintering in Florida until Phillip’s passing in 1989.
She is survived by children, Janet (Kenneth) Hansen, Carole Garlinger, Nancy (Hugh) Moore, Jenella (Dean) Smith, Jerald (Charlotte) Garlinger; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Phillip; a son, Jack; a sister, Arlene Long; and a brother, Hubert Long.
Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at Nashville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dianne Bowden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Nashville United Methodist Church or the Maple Valley Community Food Pantry. Arrangements were by Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville.
Mary Gearhart
Mary E. (Windon) Gearhart, 52, of Charlotte, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the Battle Creek Health Systems after a long illness. Mary was born May 18, 1952 in Weston, West Virginia, the daughter of Buddy Harris and Ernesteen (Holcomb) Windon and had been a Charlotte resident for 24 years, coming form Lake Odessa.
She was a 1971 graduate of Lakewood High School.
Surviving are her husband, John Gearhart, twin daughters, Tammy (J.C.) Malish and Samantha Gearhart, both of Charlotte, dearest friend, Phyllis Goodrich of Hastings and her beloved puppies.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Windon (1960), mother, Ernesteen Windon (1997) and father, Buddy Harris Windon (2003).
Funeral services were held Friday, June 4 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Donald Francis of Bellevue First Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Eaton Community Hospice.
Robert N. Geisenhaver
Robert Neil Geisenhaver, 63, of Potterville, after a lifetime of work and bringing joy to those who knew him, went to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, March 6, 2004.
Neil was the beloved husband of Bonnie and son of Dale and Enid Geisenhaver; proud father to Cindy and Steve Selfridge, Joellen and Todd Wright, and Karen and Doug Garner; doting grandfather to Katie, Matt, Clint, Luke, Chad, Craig and Dale; brother to Denny and Mary Ellen Geisenhaver, David and Vickie Geisenhaver, Beverly and Charles Leonard, Myra and Dennis Little, Roger and Rose Broskey, Michael and Dixie Broskey, Francis Broskey, and Iva Broskey.
Neil was very grateful to Moore – Trosper Construction Company for giving him a chance to make his life whole for the last six years. He worked for 24 years for V. A. Bliesener Construction, and farmed the land he loved and was born on. Neil leaves many nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and cousins, and many friends that he enjoyed to the fullest.
Funeral services were held March 9 at Potterville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rebecca Morrison, Rev. Tom Peters and Rev. Paul Bailey officiating.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Potterville United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Dale Getter
Dale Getter, age 90 of Jackson, MI, died Monday, November 22, 2004 in Jackson. Dale was born August 1, 1914 in Eaton County, the son of Bert and Delia (Weldon) Getter. He was a farmer and retired from Lindell Drop Forge in 1977 after 23 years of service.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Emogene in 1937; granddaughter, Angelia; 3 brothers and 5 sisters, Dale is survived by his wife of 67 years, Waneta (Kemper) Getter of Jackson; 1 daughter, Ruth (Mark) Peters of Jackson; 4 sons, Larry (Frances) Getter of Mason, David (Evelyn) Getter of Concord, Rober (Mary) Getter of VA and Allen (Lana) Getter of ID; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Eva Jankovic of Marshall and Elsie Howe of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends today, November 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Mason of the First Church of Christ Christian, Jackson, officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Michigan Parkinsons Foundation in memory of Dale Getter.
Thelma I. Gibbs
Thelma Irene Gibbs, 79, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at her residence.
Mrs. Gibbs was born Feb. 18, 1924 in Albion, the daughter of Harold C. and Mayta Wixon. She was a member of St. John Episcopal Church, where she was past president of the Alter Guild and past president of the ECW. Thelma was also an LPN. She also held membership in VFW Post 2406 Ladies Auxiliary and was past president and past noble grand of the Rebekahs Lodge.
She is survived by sons, Thomas (Sand) Wixson, Patrick H. Gibbs and Michael L. Gibbs of Charlotte; brother Irwin “Bud” Wixson of Albion; sister, Ferna Weir of Killeen, Texas; and friend, Ernest Calvin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Patrick Gibbs in 1966; son Kitchell S. Gibbs in 1969 in Vietnam; sisters, Leta Andrews and Joan Broxholm; brothers, Charles and Edward Wixson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 2 at St. John Episcopal Church in Charlotte with Fr. John Walton officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 2406 Ladies Auxiliary in Charlotte or Eaton Community Hospice House.

Robert L. Gidner
Robert L. Gidner, 82, of Charlotte, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 at his residence.
Bob was born June 9, 1922 in Eaton Township, Eaton County, the son of Leon and Lulu (Strickland) Gidner and was a lifelong Eaton County resident. He was a 1941 graduate of Charlotte High School, an active member of First Lutheran Church in Charlotte, a lifelong farmer and a retired employee of Eaton Rapids Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (Bailey) Gidner in 1993 and son Roy Gidner in 1985. Surviving are his son, Bruce of Charlotte; daughters, Joyce and Alice, both of Charlotte; grandchildren, Ryan Gidner of Olivet, Michelle (Adrian) Kiss of Charlotte; great-grandson, Shane Gidner of Olivet; brother, Keith (Ellen) Gidner, and sister, Eleanora Jarrett, both of Charlotte; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Harry (Mary) Shawver of Portland, Ind.; nephew, Lyle (Kay) Gidner of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews of Michigan, Indiana and Texas.
Funeral services were held Aug. 31 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte, with Pastor Timothy Olson of First Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Eaton Rapids.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Home Care & Hospice or First Lutheran Church.
Homer W. Giffen
Homer Walter Giffen, 89, of Olivet, died Sept. 5, 2004.
Homer was born Aug. 4, 1915 to Bert and Lorial (Davis) Giffen in Traverse City. He served in the Army in the European Theatre during World War II, and worked for Valley Farm Lumber Company in Lansing as a mill worker for 30 years, retiring in 1979. Homer attended the Marian Burch Center and played cards at the Coach Light Inn in Olivet. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing the harmonica.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona (Spellman) Giffen, in 1997; his parents; brothers, Harvey Giffen and Edward Giffen; sister, Ida Rasho; and granddaughter, Melysa Baker in 1990.
Surviving are daughter, Romona (Daneil) LaPoint of Olivet; sons, James (Wilda) Giffen Sr. of Lansing, Donald Giffen of DeWitt; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Giffen of Lake City; sisters, Geneva Curtis of Coldwater and Lorial Wallis of Lansing.
Services were held Sept. 9 at Olivet First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Doug Hammond officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Olivet Fireman’s Association. Arrangements were by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
