Judith I Klont
of Charlotte, passed away July 5, 2004 at the age of 68. Judith was born July 13, 1935 to her parents John and Lucy (Demond) Bailey in Lansing, Michigan. She married Peter E. Klont in 1955. She was trained in nursing and along with her husband operated Klonts Adult Foster Care Home for 20 years. After her retirement she operated K & K Concessions Wagon for two years at local events. Judy found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Peter E. Klont, 3 sons Jeffrey (Debbie) of Eaton Rapids, Terry (Sondra) and Peter L. (Lauri) Klont both of Charlotte; 8 grandchildren; two brothers William Bailey and Donald Bailey of Lansing; sister Carol Borring of Six Lakes, also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, brothers John Jr., and Daniel of Lansing, Kenneth of Ludington and sister Geraldine Conley of Charlotte. At her request no services will be held.
Jobita Tamez
75, of Charlotte, died Monday, July 05, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Tamez was born February 10, 1929 in New Braunsville, Texas, the daughter of Reyes R. and Maclovia (Landin) Rodriguez. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte. She is survived by children, Mary I. Fisher of Lansing, Irene L. (David) Campbell of Marshall, Irma (Chris) Guerra of Lansing, Ilda (Stephen) Tamez-Williams of Holt, Michael I.R. Tamez, Jr. of Wayland, and Melody White of Charlotte, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister Juanita Wells of Florida, brothers Tony Rodriguez of Charlotte and Chemo Rodriguez of Okemos. She was preceded in death by her husband Israel R. Tamez in 1995, brother Rod Rodriguez in 2003, brother-in-law Doug Wells and nephew David Wells. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Dorothy M. Stegenga
80 of Charlotte, died Tuesday, July 06, 2004 in Lansing. Mrs. Stegenga was born June 11, 1924 in St. Charles, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Cora (Gould) Sanderson. She received her nursing degree from St. Mary School of Nursing and worked at Hayes Green Beach Hospital for over 30 years. She loved gardening, horses and playing Yahtzee. She is survived by her husband Richard, her children, Charles (Margaret) Stegenga of California, Katherine Nagengast of Charlotte, James Stegenga of Bellevue, Mary Stegenga of Charlotte and Sally (Joe) Latta of Florida, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and brother, Ralph Sanderson of California. She was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Howard and Lawrence, sister, Marjorie M. Sanderson, and son-in-law Marty Nagengast. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Interment will be in Bosworth Cemetery in Walton Township. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Janis K. Mugford
50, of Charlotte, Michigan, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, in Charlotte. Mrs. Mugford was born December 14, 1953, in Charlotte, the daughter of Rex and Bettie (Moening) Morrissey. Janis was a Certified Health Unit Coordinator for many years and enjoyed crafts. She is survived by husband David Mugford, daughter Sadie Mugford of Lansing, son Zeb Mugford of Charlotte, daughter Abbie Mugford of Lansing, her mother Bettie, brothers John (Cindy) Morrissey of Charlotte, Tom (Vickie) Morrissey of Lansing, and Matt (Julie) Morrissey of Kalamazoo. She was preceded in death by her father Rex in 1991. A small memorial service will be planned at a later date. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.
Dale L. Norris
71, of Lansing, Michigan, died July 8, 2004. Mr. Norris was born June 11, 1933, in Charlotte, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Jessie (Claflin) Norris. Dale was a Postal worker. He volunteered at Ingham County Family Independence Agency and loved his 4 dogs and 8 cats. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Norris of Lansing, daughter Josephine Norris of Lansing, adopted daughter Jeanette Eleanor Norris of Lansing, 4 step-children Richard (Wendy) Vance of Lansing, Ronald (Shirley) Vance, Eva (Joseph) Hay of Bangor, and Elaine (Jon) Snyder of Charlotte, 10 grandchildren, sister Betty Neeb of Clarksville, brother Bill Norris of Charlotte, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2004 at St. Casmir Catholic Church in Lansing with Rev. Fr. William Lugger officiating. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos. Mildred Irene Woodworth
94, of Charlotte, Michigan, died July 9, 2004. Mrs. Woodworth was born April 21, 1910 in Shiawassee County, Michigan, the daughter of Lee and Belle (Edward) Sanders. She is survived by daughter Janet Dean of Charlotte and Bernitta Carpenter, 5 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, sister Viola Austin of Durand, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Don Woodworth in 1976, sisters Opal and Sylvia, brothers Lester and Clarence. Donald Mazrine (M) Stewart
83, of Charlotte, Michigan, died July 10, 2004. Mr. Stewart was born September 6, 1920, in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, the son of John and Helen (Chapman) Stewart. He graduated in 1938 from Vandergrift High School. He served in the Army in the European Theatre during WW II. He worked for A & P in Vandergrift for 40 years as their Produce Manager. He was a member and former Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher of the Highland Free Methodist Church in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. He is survived by son Donald (Vicki) Stewart of Florence, South Carolina; daughters Lanette (Frank) Peiffer of Ottsville, Pennsylvania, and Sheryl (Dennis) DeMond of Charlotte, Michigan; sisters Margy Fleming of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and Nancy (Bill) Buchholtz, of Apollo, Pennsylvania; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in December, 2003. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at the Highland Free Methodist Church in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, with Rev. Michael Campbell officiating. Gwenda Irene Powers
67, of Charlotte, MI, died July 11, 2004. Mrs. Powers was born January 11, 1937, in Clarkton, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas A. D. and Dorothy I. (Harrison) Miller. Gwenda worked at Michigan Magnetics of Vermontville where she retired as a Quality Control Manager. Mrs. Powers was active with her many interests over the years. Whether it was sewing clothes for her children when they were young, baking wedding cakes for many local brides, or traveling the country with her husband and family. She especially loved time spent snowmobiling, fishing and camping through the years. She was a great fan of country music and especially loved the music of Elvis Presley. Gwenda is survived by her husband Richard Lee Powers; sons Dwight M. and Ritchie (Billie Joe) of Indianapolis; daughters Natalie (Don) Brocieus of Charlotte, MI and Annette (John) Stocklass of Ferndale, Washington; brothers Russell, Billy Dean and Vernon Ray; sisters Norma Jean Hathaway of Potterville, MI and Deborah Cheeseman of Charlotte, MI; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Gary and Wilbur, and sister Nina. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, MI with Chuck Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Gresham Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 PM Monday and Tuesday at the Pray Funeral Home. Margaret Fern VanGelder
81 of Charlotte, died Sunday, July 11, 2004. Ms. VanGelder was born November 30, 1922 in Walton Township, Michigan, the daughter of Enos and Fern Estelle (Burlingame) Cooper. She worked for many years as a babysitter and an Avon dealer. She loved her backyard birds, collecting elephants and was a huge Elvis fan. She is survived by daughter, Yvonne French of Charlotte, Jake (Dawn) VanGelder of Charlotte, Greg VanGelder of Vermontville and eight grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at a later date. James Clarence 'JC' Clouse
age 79, of Charlotte, MI, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004. Mr. Clouse was born to Wm. Gus and Nanny Belle (James) Clouse on October 21, 1924 in Springfield, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Phoebe (Butler-Woodworth) Clouse who he married August 6, 1953. Also survived by 1 son Robert Clouse of Vermontville, and 2 daughters, Susan (Dennis) Lea and Linda (Norman) Clark, all of Traverse City, 2 step-sons, James (Joanne) Woodworth and Robert Woodworth, both of Eaton Rapids, step-daughter, Carol (Steve) Brooks of Springfield, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Cynthia 'Cindy' Marie Nevins
age 40 of Charlotte, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and best friend, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 23, 2004 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and caring ways. Cindy was born August 31, 1963 in St. Johns, Michigan, the daughter of Owen and Veronica (Eiseler) Feldpausch. She was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School and a Departmental Technician for the State of Michigan, Office of Public School Retirement. She loved to support those around her and was an avid Charlotte Orioles fan. She is survived by her husband Robert 'Robb' Nevins II, son Grant Nevins, daughters Becky Nevins, Rikki Nevins, and Robbyn (Michael) Hamilton, granddaughter Jade Annmarie Hamilton, all of Charlotte, sister Tammy (Jack) Coffey, mother Veronica (John) Davis, brother Larry (Kathy) Feldpausch, all of Lansing, brothers-in-law Rick (Toni) Nevins, Ryan Nevins and Rory Nevins, mother-in-law Marilyn Royston Garlow and husband Richard, father-in-law Bob Nevins, stepmother-in-law Jeanette Nevins, all of Charlotte, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Owen Feldpausch and brother Lynn Feldpausch.
