Mary L. Price

Mary Louise Price, 94, of Bellevue, died Oct. 16, 2004 at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing.

She was born Jan. 18, 1910 to Alexander and Gertrude (Hodges) Hamilton in Kalamo Township. Mary worked at Olivet College as a secretary in the Physics Department, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Nashville VFW Auxiliary, the Bellevue United Methodist Church and its Rachel Circle and a past matron of Bellevue-Olivet OES 196. She loved the outdoors.

Mary was preceded in death by husbands, Manville Dexter in 1951 and Clarence Price in 1958. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ellen Rugg, on Sept. 16, 2004; sisters, Sarah Martins, Millie Reams, Helena Turner, Josephine Mapes, Leah Hamilton and Lucy Olmstead; and brothers, Mark, Karl, Harry and Ellis Hamilton.

She is survived by her son, John Dexter of Bellevue; daughter, Alexandra (Carroll) Smith of Nashville and Nancy (Gary) Minich of Concord; son-in-law, Earl Rugg, Jr.; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 20 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Pastor Virginia Heller officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bellevue United Methodist Church or a charity of one’s choice.

Carolyn A. Priddy

Carolyn A. Priddy, 94, of Charlotte passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.

Mrs. Priddy was born to Claude and Leila Hatfield on Nov. 18, 1909. She married her husband, Bruce, in 1932 and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before his death in 1998. She and Bruce lived in the Vermontville area until they retired, then moved to Charlotte and wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla. for about 20 years. Mrs. Priddy was a 1927 graduate of Vermontville High School, a 1928 graduate of Eaton County Normal and a 1963 graduate of Western Michigan University. She taught for 22 years in Eaton County rural schools and for 10 years in Nashville and Vermontville elementary schools. She was a life member of Eaton County National Education Association and Michigan Association of Retired Teachers. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Vermontville for 52 years, where she served as a choir member; secretary and Sunday school teacher. Carolyn and Bruce attended Vermontville Bible Church for the last 20 years. Carolyn loved flowers, making afghans for her loved ones and playing games with her grandchildren.

Surviving are three children, Louise (Terry) McLane of Charlotte, Claudette (Darrell) Hamilton of Nashville and Duane (Donna) Priddy of Midland; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Frederick Hatfield of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Howard (Edna) Hatfield of Wesley Chapel, Fla.

Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at Vermontville Bible Church. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery, on State Road west of Vermontville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vermontville Bible Church or Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte.

Esabelle Mary Pull

Esabelle Mary Pull, age 94, of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Springport, died Thursday, August 26, 2004 in Charlotte. Esabelle was born September 2, 1909 in Richland, the daughter of LeRoy James and Vera Dawn (Clair) Stevens. She was a member of the Springport Senior Citizens and graduated from lake Odessa high School, Class of 1923. Mrs. Pull was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson J. Pull, Sr. in 1968 and her grandson, Emerson J. Pull III in 1979.

Surviving are her daughter, Morita Jane (John) Wesanen of Redford; son, Emerson J. (Twila Darlene) Pull, Jr. of Springport; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 30, 2004 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with Pastor Jack Fugate officiating. Interment followed at Pope Church Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Pope Church in memory of Esabelle M. Pull.

Lydia Pulter

Lydia Pulter of Lansing, formerly of Eaton Rapids, age 94, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 in Lansing. Lydia was born in Russia, the daughter of Henry and Emelia (Ratzloff) Nickols. She was a lifetime member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing and a long time Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Pulter was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; daughter, Josephine; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Surviving are her 2 daughters, Donna (Dave) Klink of Delta Twp., Isabell (Dick) Pratt of Okemos; son, Walter (Maxine) Pulter of Taylor; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Stanbaugh of Sunfield; and sister-in-law, Doris Nickols of East Lansing.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at the Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol, Lansing with Rev. Paul Lindloff and Rev. Timothy Buelow officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids.

Jessie B. Putney

Jessie Belle Putney, 83, of Charlotte, formerly of Dimondale, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at the Connie Hong-Angel Adult Foster Care Home.

Mrs. Putney was born Aug.. 24, 1921 in Eagle, the daughter of Otto H. and Esther (Beam) Buckley. She loved her cats, and was a great gardener who enjoyed her plants, flowers and produce.

She is survived by her son, Ray (Carolyn) Putney of Charlotte; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jason) Parrish of Alton, Ill., and John Putney of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Brendan and Benjamin Parrish; and half-sister, Eunice Coolman of Swartz Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Putney, on Sept. 3, 2000; brothers, Scott, Harold and Marvin; and a half-brother, Dewey.

Funeral services were held Jan. 4, 2005 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Mike Arnold officiating. Interment was at Dimondale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice, Hospice of Great Lakes or the Lansing City Rescue Mission. Special thanks to Connie, Chantel and Amber of Angel AFC for their tender and loving care during the time Jessie was with them.

E. Ruth Ramsay

E. Ruth Ramsay, 92, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004.

Mrs. Ramsay was born Dec. 10, 1911 in Sandusky, Mich., the daughter of Bowen and Lillian May (Scott) Scouten. Ruth was an elementary school teacher in Corona, Calif., from 1959 to 1976.

Mrs. Ramsay is survived by sons, John S. Ramsay of Charlotte, W. Kent (Carol) Ramsay of Rogue River, Ore., Dan (Jean) Ramsay of Epworth, Ga.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband John Ramsay in 1993, four brothers, and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside, Calif., on Feb. 23.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice.

Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.

Naomi M. Raven

Naomi Margaret Raven, 90, of Grandville, died Jan. 14, 2004.

Mrs. Raven was born Jan. 23, 1913 in Gypsum, Iowa, the daughter of William and Maggie (Watt) Bashford.

She is survived by daughter, Rhea (Jim) Ferrier of Nashville, Mich.; son, Peter (Brigitte) Raven of Greenfield, Ind.; seven grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dimple Raven, Lorna Raven, Mary Bashford of Iowa, Betty Bashford of Kansas; brother-in-law, Walter Raven of Iowa; and former sister-in-law, Char Raven of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Raven in 1987, sister Laura Gutherie, and six brothers, Jim, Mac, Bill, Gene, Vern and Frank.

Funeral service was held Jan. 17 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Michael Arnold officiating. Interment was at Rest Haven Cemetery in Belding. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.

Theodore J. Rawson

Theodore “Ted” John Rawson, 83, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004.

Mr. Rawson was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Vermontville, the son of Cleo and Edith (Northrup) Rawson. He served with the 94th Infantry Division of Patton’s 3rd Army during World War II. He married Gertrude Snoke, who preceded him in death March 27, 1993. Mr. Rawson was a member of the Charlotte Kiwanis Club and the Wellness Center at Hayes Green Beach Hospital. He was an avid MSU and Detroit Red Wings fan and also enjoyed the sport of harness racing, and was well known in the Charlotte area as a genuine old-fashioned good neighbor to everyone.

He is survived by his son, Vaughn (Stephanie) Rawson of Mason; daughter, Jo (Robert) McCausey of Mulliken; grandson, Cam (Amy) McCausey of Mulliken; and great granddaughter, Alexa.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and William; and sister, Meredith.

Family Affirmation Service® was held March 2 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with R. Raymond Rossell officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Green Beach Hospital.
