George Patrick Hendrickson
George Patrick Hendrickson, age 55, of Indianapolis and formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday, December 28, 2003 at Indiana University Hospital. He was born April 13, 1948 in Eaton Rapids, the son of George Frank and Betty (Wyatt) Hendrickson.
Surviving are 2 daughters; mother, Betty Hendrickson; 2 brothers and 1 sister; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be no services. Arrangements are being made through Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids.
Daisey Henry
Daisey Henry, age 87, of Lansing, Mich., died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, Mich.
Mrs. Henry was the daughter of Forrest and Anna (Lindsay) Sharp.
She is survived by daughters, Donna Soloman of Lansing, Nancy (Bill) Rhode of Fairfax, VA; brother, Bruce Bumford of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren, Dion and Deann Morgan, Todd Tyler, Sarah and Ann Rode; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Keith Henry in 1990 and Carl Twitchell in 1965.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Monday, March 24, with Rev. Darryl Hartwell officiating.
Arrangements are by Pray Funeral Home, 401 W. Seminary St., Charlotte.
Lori L. Henry
Lori Lynn Henry, age 42, of Olivet, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 after a short illness.
Lori was born Aug. 29, 1960 in Charlotte, the daughter of Ted and Evelyn (Henderson) Marshall and had been an Olivet-area resident for 12 years. She was an employee of Sodexho Food Service at Olivet College and a member of the Good Times Pool League.
Surviving are her husband, Mike Henry; parents, Ted and Evelyn Marshall of Charlotte; one brother, Teddy Marshall of Charlotte; five sisters, Debbie Etheridge, Sindi Marshall and Tammy Johnson, all of Charlotte, Lisa Fields of Lansing and Beth (Terry) Peeler of Sour Lake, Texas; father- and mother-in-law, James and Arloa Henry of Marshall; five nieces, five nephews , one great-nephew and four great-nieces.
Funeral services were held April 2 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Randy Royston officiating. Interment was at West Carmel Cemetery in Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lifespan Hospice in Battle Creek.
Vera Heminger
Vera Heminger, age 97 of Pleasant Lake formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday, March 9, 2003 at Foote Hospital in Jackson. She was born March 1, 1906 in Springport Township, the daughter of George and Kathryn Miller. Mrs. Heminger was a high school graduate of Springport and later received her teacher’s certificate and had taught briefly. She married Roy Heminger and together operated Heminger Realty in Eaton Rapids for over 50 years, providing real estate, insurance and Pittsburg Paints. Preceding her in death was her husband, Roy.
Surviving are 2 nieces, Ila Walker of Leslie and Eunice Friedewald of Alabama; sister-in-law, Helen Burns of Pleasant Lake and close friends George and Hallett Pettit families; and many many other people of which she is known as “Aunt Vera”.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral home in Eaton Rapids. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 709 p.m. at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice, in memory of Aunt Vera Heminger.
Larry G. Henderson
Larry G. Henderson, age 56, of Eaton Rapids, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 in Lansing. Larry was born March 23, 1946 in Lansing, the son of Douglas Frank and Phyllis Joy (Merlington) Henderson. During his lifetime, Larry worked as a millwright at General Motors, die maker at Rapids Tool and Engineering, and was a dairy farmer for 11 years. Larry and his wife were owners of Country Acres and Island View Adult Foster Care Homes. He was a member of the Charlotte Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and spending time at his cabin on Drummond Island. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren and loved being with them.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Lorene (Payne) Henderson of Eaton Rapids; 4 daughters, Lori (Rock) Fraser of St. Charles, Sheila Henderson of Eaton Rapids, Lynette (Todd) Gardner of Eaton Rapids, Sandra Brewbaker of Mason; 1 son, Tony (Kate) Henderson of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren; father and stepmother, Douglas and Buffy (Stewart) Henderson, brother, Darrell Kirk (Barbara) Henderson of Marshall and stepsister, Judy Gibson of Eaton Rapids. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis (Merlington) Henderson and grandson, Zane Gardner.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, 1:00 p.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids with Pastor Larry Yeagley officiating. Interment will follow at Munger Cemetery, Eaton Rapids. Ralph L. Hettich
Ralph L. Hettich, 50, of Bellevue, formerly of Clarkston and Auburn Hills, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1952 in Pontiac to Clentis and Inga (Wiltfang) Hettich. He graduated from Clarkson High School in 1971. He was employed as a machinist and carman by Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 29 years and came to the Battle Creek area from Pontiac in 1988. Mr. Hettich married Jane Jackson on May 10, 1975; she survives.
Also surviving are sons, Gregory (Becky) Hettich of Battle Creek and Jeffery Hettich of Bellevue; daughter, Michelle Hettich of Bellevue; granddaughter, Kilee Hettich of Battle Creek; parents, Clentis and Inga Hettich of Bellevue; and a brother, James (Cathy) Hettich of Olivet.
A graveside service was held at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue, with Pastor Steve Covert officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Eaton Community Hospice. Arrangements were by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Sharon Jean Hiatt
Sharon Jean Hiatt, age 43, of Charlotte and formerly of Eaton Rapids, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Santee Home in Benton Township, where she resided. She was born June 3, 1959 in Lansing, the daughter of Virgil and Irene (Cherpes) Hiatt. Sharon had graduated from a special program in Mount Pleasant. She enjoyed her music, singing and M&M’s. Sharon will be greatly missed by all her family and all involved in her life. She will also be especially missed by the staff of Santee Home, Charlotte, MI where she resided the last 13 years, by Emily, Cassie, Sharon and by others who may not haven been mentioned. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Hiatt.
Surviving are her mother, Irene Hiatt-Luscombe of Eaton Rapids; brothers, Keith (Sue) Hiatt of Eaton Rapids; 3 sisters, Vicki Christensen of St. Charles, Ill., Katie (Jon) Opdyke of Lansing and Laurie Gipson of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with Elder Davis Allen, officiating. Burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
Melba Rose Hildabridle
Melba R. Hidabridle, age 73, of Eaton Rapids, died Thursday, October 9, 2003 at a Lansing hospital. Born December 9, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Samuel and Elsie (Hornus) Williamson. Mrs. Hildabridle had a real love of life, making the most of every day, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens and especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband Martin in 1971 and a son, Jack in 2001.
Surviving are her 5 children, Cathy (Dennis) Morrison of St. Johns, Martin Hildabridle of Eaton Rapids, David (Rosemary) Hildabridle of Eaton Rapids and Sandy (Anthony) Tupper of Mason; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; mother, Elsie Williamson of Breckenridge; brother, Robin (Cheryl) Williamson of Mt. Pleasant and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 13, 2003 from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapid with burial following in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing.
David W. Hillard
David William Hillard of Muskogee, Okla. passed away Feb. 20, 2003 and was born Feb. 18, 1944 in Eaton Rapids, Mich., the son of Bernice (White) Hillard-Gettys and the late Robert Hillard.
He grew up in Eaton County and served in the Army from 1962-1965. He married Ranae Rhines in 1966 and had their daughter, Suzanne, in 1967. Dave married Linda Hare on Sept. 26, 1980 and had twin daughters in 1983. He worked at Owens-Illinois in Charlotte and Owens-Brockway in Muskogee as a specialist. Dave loved sports, especially bowling. He achieved a perfect game of 300. His love of roller coasters earned him the nickname of “Roller Coaster King.”
Surviving are his mother of Charlotte; his wife, Linda of Muskogee; three daughters, Suzanne (Michael) Wesley of San Clemente, Calif., and Misty and Melody of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Thomas, Andrea, Jacob, Elizabeth and Sage, all of San Clemente, Calif.; two brothers, Richard Hillard of Charlotte and Tom Hillard of Lansing; and two step-sisters, Marion Smith and Maxine Green.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert Hillard, step-father George Gettys and step-sister Marie Griffeth.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 24 at Bradley Belltower Chapel in Mukogee. Burial was in Fort Gibson Veterans Cemetery, Okla.
