Sarah M. Jones
Sarah Michelle Jones, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003.
Sarah was born Nov. 1, 1984 and was a lifelong resident of Potterville. She was valedictorian of her 2003 senior class at Potterville High School and enjoyed participating and supporting school athletics. Sarah was also on the National Honor Society and the Potterville H.S. Youth Advisory Council. She enjoyed participating in athletics, loved crafts of all kinds and adored young children. Sarah had been accepted at Grand Valley State University to study special education.
She is survived by parents, Ashley and Arlene (Wieber) Jones; bother, Mark; sister, Jannette; grandfather, Arnold Wieber of Fowler; numerous aunts, and uncles and cousins; special friends in the Potterville community and schools, George Danford, and her beloved pet Lacey.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Ashley and Helen Jones; grandmother, Dorothy Wieber; and nephew, Jacob Villarreal.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Rev. Father Denis R. Spitzley April 19 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte. Rite of Committal was held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2520 W. Willow Street, Lansing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Potterville Athletic Boosters. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Tim Jones
Timmerman J.”Tim” Jones, 48 of Dimondale, died Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2003 at Lansing hospital.
Mr. Jones was born Feb. 16, 1955 in Charlotte, a son of William and Margaret (Mason) Jones. He was a 1973 graduate of Charlotte High School and an employee of GM Service and Parts Operation.
Surviving are his mother, Margaret Jones of Dimondale; brother, Thomas (Kathy) Jones of Charlotte; several aunts and uncles; an numerous cousins.
Services were held May 14 at Field & Leik Funeral Home of Dimondale, with Rev. John Toth officiating. Interment was at Dimondale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Antes, Roger Bastien, James Jones, William Jones, Dave Washburn and Stacey Zinn.
Hoy Jordan
Hoy “Butch” Jordan, age 53, of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Mr. Jordan was born in July 19, 1950 in Allegan, the son of Derald and Gladys (Bailey) Jordan. He was raised in the Orangeville area, but moved to Nashville at the age of 13 to live with his foster parents Frank and Nora Sessions. He attended area schools, including Nashville High School. On Aug. 9, 1969 in Hastings, he married Vicki Allen. The couple spent their entire married lives together in the Hastings/Nashville area. In 1972 he began work at Bradford White, where he was employed for over 31 years in the press room. He enjoyed being outdoors, washing his truck and mowing the lawn. He also enjoyed spending time visiting area casinos and listening to classic rock and older country music.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vicki; daughters, Vera (Jerry) Samis and Amy (Rich) Ward; son, Jason (Kim) Jordan; brother, Sid (Toni) Jordan; sisters, Carol Leonard, Kathy (Mike) Risner, Marsha, Jean and Connie; grandchildren Adam, Keshia, Letitia, Shelby, Kayley, Olivia, and Jenna.
He was preceded in death by his brother Brian, and sister Pam.
Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at Daniels Funeral Home in Nashville, with Pastor Mike Risner officiating.

Donald P. Joseph, Sr.
Donald P. Joseph, Sr., age 79, of Nashville, passed away Sept. 24, 2003 surrounded by family at his home.
Born April 1, 1924 to Charles and Ozelma Joseph in Canton, Ohio, Don was raised in Detroit and move to Potterville in the 10th grade. He went to welding school in Missouri and returned home when World War II started. Don entered the Air Force in 1942 and after basic training he served 27 months on Attu Island. He and his brother, Charles Joseph (who preceded him in death), became partners in the family business, Carl’s Supermarket. In 1971, the opened up another store in Nashville. Don was a life member of VFW Post #8260 in Nashville, Potterville Masonic Lodge #367, and Eastern Star #413.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeannette; four sons, David (Lana) Joseph of Lansing, Robert Joseph of Potterville, Donald (Jean) Joseph, Jr. of Potterville and John Joseph of Hastings; one sister, Yvonne Chapman of Elkhart, Ind.; sister-in-law, Rita Joseph of Potterville; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and his dog, Sandy.
Per Don’s request, no services were held.
Memorial contributions may be made to Barry-Eaton Hospice, the Nashville Fire Dept., or Putnam Library. Arrangements were by Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Alvin E. Kader
Alvin Earl Kader, 66, of Bellevue, died May 27, 2003 at home.
He was born May 15, 1937 to Alvin and Mildred Kader in Detroit. Alvin graduated from Bellevue High School and served for 13 years in the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant during the Vietnam War. He worked for Grand Trunk Western as a supervisor in the Electrical and Rebuilding departments. He retired in 1997. Alvin married Audrey “Bunny” Baggerly on Jan. 21, 1983; she survives. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #299. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife Audrey; daughters, Suzan Kader and son Ashlen Blythe of Bellevue, Jeanne (Jim) Leonard and children, Britt and Brett of Nashville, Karen Kader of Bellevue; son, Michael Kader of Georgia; stepsons, Mark (Diane) Thompson and children Travis and Whitney of Battle Creek; and stepdaughter, Vicki Thompson and her friend Larry Appleton, Wis.; sisters, Barbara Lust of Marshall, Betty Kader of Guyton, Ga., Janet (Bruce) Worthington of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Peggy (Bill) Blimline of Murray, Ky.; brothers, Dick Kader of San Antonio, Texas, and Terry (Kim) Kader of Sanger, Texas.
Services took place May 30 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.

Belle J. Kanillopoolos
Bell Jane Kanillopoolos, age 77, of Villa Park, Ill. formerly of Charlotte, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Kanillopoolos was a resident of Villa Park for 35 years. She was born and raised in Charlotte, and graduated from Charlotte High School in 1943. She attended Michigan State University and studied voice. She was a former soloist at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church in Charlotte, a former member of the Civic Opera Guild of Lansing, and was also an artist.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas; two daughters, Jane (Richard) Gregory of Lombard, Ill., and Mary (Michael) Ciardiello of Carol Stream, Ill.; three grandchildren, Teadra Gregory of Lombard, Christina Ciardiello of Carol Stream and Richard Gregory of Lombard.
She was preceded in death by her brother Sebert Willett of the U.S. Navy, killed in action at Normandy during World War II; and her parents, Ray and Ada Willett.
Funeral services were held May 13 at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard, Ill., with Rev. Patrick Boomhower of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was held May 14 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Brandon T. Kay
Brandon Thomas Kay of Vermontville, born of Thomas Patrick and Linda Sue (Baird) Kay Oct. 6, 1982, at 20 years of age passed away July 4, 2003. Brandon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and paintball. He also loved anything with wheels and was happy to help his friends with autos and small engines. Brandon was also a fan of computer games; however, Brandon’s favorite role will always be known as “uncle” to his niece Lillian.
He is survived by parents, Thomas and Linda Kay of Vermontville; brother, Jonathan (Robin) Kay and niece Lillian Kay of Grand Rapids; auntie, Paulette Croghan of Ypsilanti; uncle, Robert (Judith) Baird of Lowell; aunt, Jeanette Kay of Maryland; cousins, Lora Chapman of Ypsilanti, Paul Croghan of Howell, Paul Baird and Nina Baird of Lowell, David Kay and Christopher Kay of DePere, Wis.; and grandmothers Louella Baird of Ypsilanti and Doris Kay of Vermontville.
Funeral services were held July 8 at Grace Community Church in Nashville, with Dr. Richard Currier and Pastor Rob Van Engen officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Helen A. Keefer
Helen A. Keefer, 91, of Mulliken, died Monday morning May 19, 2003 at her home.
Mrs. Keefer was born Feb. 27, 1912 in Greenville, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Thomas) Savage. He was a long-time area resident and a former Loucks District School Board member.
Mrs. Keefer was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her daughter, Betty; an infant son; her sister, Flossie Hammond; and her brother, Phil Savage.
Surviving are her son, Maynard (Ronalda) Keefer of Mulliken; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 22 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken, with Pastor Don Woolum officiating. Interment was a Meadowbrook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brittany Keefer, Craig Keefer, Dean Keefer, Denise Keefer, Maegan Keefer, Jared McConnon, Shaine McConnon and Cheryl Perry.
