Linda E. Pullen
Linda E. “Lindy” (Halliwill) Pullen, 50 of Olivet, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003 at her residence.
Mrs. Pullen was born Dec. 23, 1952 in Vermontville, the daughter of Lowell and Marlys (Brown) Halliwill. She worked at McDonald’s in Charlotte and Marshall for many years, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #280. She was an excellent bowler and loved her dogs, Champ and Smoke, and Pete, her parrot.
She is survived by her husband, William; son, Arty of Olivet; step-son, Billy Pullen of Grand Ledge; step-daughters, Linda (Tim) Kirchen of Olivet, Lori Ann Pullen of Florida; sister, Mary (Loren) Lehman of Nashville; brothers, Bob (Patsy) Halliwill, Ed (Donna) Halliwill, Leroy (Karen) Halliwill, David (Stephanie) Halliwill, all of Charlote, Jim (Maggie) Halliwell, Ramond Halliwill, both of Nashville, and Ernie (Caroline) of Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ken Halliwill in 2001.
Funeral services were held Dec. 22 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Chuck Jenson officiating. Interment was at Bosworth Cemetery in Walton Township, Olivet.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Hospice at American Legion Post #280.

Walter L. Pullen
Walter L. Pullen, 60, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at Battle Creek Health System.
Mr. Pullen was born April 8, 1933 in Pennfield Township to Frank and Ethel (Brewster) Pullen. He was a lifelong resident of the Tekonsha and Marshall areas. Mr. Pullen was self-employed as a mechanic and truck driver in the Tekonsha area. Through his work he became very connected with several area law-enforcement agencies. He had also delivered papers for the Enquirer News for many years. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Pullen was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Marshall Moose Lodge. He enjoyed following sports and going to watch the Detroit Tigers with his sister. He was an avid fisherman and was a familiar sight on the area lakes in his fishing boat in the company of his dogs.
He is survived by daughters, Marlene James of Cowpens, S.C., Carol Jackson of Spartanburg, S.C. and Marsha Gay of El Cajon, Calif.; sons, Dale Pullen of Boston, Mass. and Greg Pullen of Coldwater; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, William Pullen of Olivet; sister, Greta “Susie” Smith of Marshall; half-sisters, Elsie Scroggins and Ruth Woods; half-brothers, Robert Spaulding and Duane Spaulding; special friend, Cinty Baker.
He was preceded in death by half-brothers and half-sisters, Dale and Frank “Jim” Spaulding, Winnona and Glanadine Travis, Violet Higgins, June Youngblood; and step-brother, George Spaulding. Services to celebrate Mr. Pullen’s life were held Feb. 7 at Craig K Kempf Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walter L. Pullen memorial fund.
Jerry W. Putman
Jerry Wayne Putman, 66, of Caruthersville, Mo., formerly of Lansing, died Dec. 19, 2003 following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 15, 1937. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Barbara; sons, Dennis (Tracy) of Charlotte, Donald of Lansing; daughters, Patricia (Bruce) Cotter of Eaton Rapids, Elizabeth (Larry) Wolcott of Sand Lake, Jerrie Sue (Jeff) App of Wichita Falls, Texas; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Lena Mae Winn of Memphis, Tenn., Betty (Jim) Bouck of Atouck, Tenn.; brothers Earlie (Della) Putman Jr. and Bill (Sally) Putman, both of Lansing.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church, 4691 S. Hull Road, Leslie.
Darlene E. Ransom
Darlene E. Ransom, 70, of Lansing, formerly of Holt and Charlotte, died Saturday July 5, 2003 at Sparrow Hospital.
Darlene was born Oct. 17, 1932 in Charlotte, the daughter of Kenneth and C. Roline (Willis) Ransom and was a 1950 graduate of Charlotte High School.
Surviving are two brothers, John (Leona) Ransom of Stockbridge and Maynard “Mickey” (Nancy) Ransom of Holt; two sisters, Joyce (Kendall) Steele of Lake Odessa and Janet (Jeffrey) Rowe of Madisonville, Tenn.; aunts, Louise Ransom of Grand Rapids and Martha Stevens of Sun City, Ariz.; uncle and aunt, Bruce and Madaline Hinckley of Coldwater; nieces and nephews, Kenneth (Brenda) Steele and James Steele of Lake Odessa, Jeane Steele of Rockford, Peggie (Chuck) Anson of Coopersville, Pattie (Roger) Messner of Munith, Kenneth Ransom of Stockbridge, Pennie (Don) Ward of Gregory, Kyle Ransom of Hell, Kimberly (Jeremy) Adcock of Williamston, Jennifer (Joel) Steward of Morrice, Jeffery Rowe of Tennessee, Teresa Young of Charlotte and Michael (Heidi) Ransom of Grand Ledge.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Ransom in 1986 and her mother, C. Roline (Willis) Ransom in 1994.
Funeral services were held July 8 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte with Rev. Karen Wheat officiating. Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Charlotte.

Billy G. Reed
Billy G. Reed, 54, of Charlotte, died Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2003 at Lansing hospital.
Mr. Reed was born Aug. 27, 1949 in Lansing, a son of Elmo and Cleora (Shinevar) Reed. He was a carpenter, a Vietnam veteran and a member of the Grand Ledge American Legion post.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Rebecca Reed; son, Billy Gene Reed Jr.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Loren and Robert Reed; and one sister, Rose Marie Burton Enness.
Surviving are his wife of two years, Judy Mae (Moore) Reed; four daughters, Lisa (Joshua) Burt of Potterville, Jeanette (Charles) Hoo of Grand Rapids, Janet (Ken) Booth of Remus, Samantha Grummett of Six Lakes; two sons, Richard (Chris) Butler, Jr. of Portland, Jerry Smith of Charlotte; 18 grandchildren; his mother, Cleora Reed of Grand Ledge; four brothers, Lloyd (Judy) Reed of Dimondale, LaVerne (Judy) Reed of Charlotte, Ron (Anne) Reed of Petoskey, Jim Reed of Riverdale; one sister, Kay (Rudy) Utter of Butternut; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Oct. 29 at Barker-Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken, with Rev. Wayne Compton officiating. Interment was at Meadobrook Cemetery.
Katherine Rehkopf
Katherine Rehkopf, age 80, of Eaton Rapids, died Wednesday Aug. 13, 2003 in Mason. Katherine was born October 15, 1922 in New York City, the daughter of Othon and Gertrude (Dyer) Kopulos. She was formerly employed with Heifets Foods in Eaton Rapids. Katherine was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Chester R.; 2 daughters, Sandy (Dennis) Bodell of Eaton Rapids, Babe (John) Wingo of Lansing; 2 sons, Chester (Judy) Rehkopf of Eaton Rapids, Richard (Susan) Rehkopf of FL; 6 grandchildren, Todd Rehkopf, Sheila Richards, Kristina Newsome, Sean Bodell, John and Mechelle Ackley; 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas Richards, Joshua Ackley, Tyler and Dylan Newsome; 5 brohers, Theodore Kopulos of Flint, George Kopulos of TN, William Kopulos, Don Kopulos both of Springport, Pete Kopulos of Lansing; 3 sisters, Patricia Mate of CO, Ornea Kopulos of Nashville, Leona Kopulos of Lapeer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing.
Stanley B. Reid
Stanley B. Reid, age 68, of Charlotte, died Sunday, May 18, 2003 at his residence after a short illness.
Stan was born May 5, 1935 in Millington, the son of Frank and Leona (Kolinski) Reid, and was a 1953 graduate of Arenac Eastern High School. He had been employed as a sales representative for Northern Concrete Pipe for 25 years and then Pre-Marc Corp. for eight years, from where he retired in 1995. Mr. Reid was a charter member and past president of Charlotte Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3552. He had played slow-pitch softball, was an avid sports fan and fisherman, and enjoyed traveling. He was married to Kay Dearden on March 10, 1956 in Bay City.
Surviving are his wife, Kay; one son, Bryan (Debbie) Reid; one daughter, LeAnn (Richard) Stark; four grandchildren, Corie (Jerry) Davis, Crystal Stark, Dustin and Morgan Reid, all of Charlotte; sister, Constance Reid of Omer; aunt, Agnes Kolinski of Omer; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Reid of Standish; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Reid.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services were held May 21 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Charles Jenson and Charlotte Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 3552 officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte.
Donald E. Renault
Donald E. Renault, age 76, of Charlotte, formerly of Alton, Ill., died Dec. 13, 2003.
Mr. Renault was born June 30, 1927 in Jacksonville, Ill. He retired from Owns Illinois in 1983 after 40 years of service. He transferred from Alton to Charlotte in 1962 as part of the original team that opened the new O-I plant. He love the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and enjoyed many years spending time with family and friends in the Upper Peninsula. Mr. Renault was a devoted animal lover and pet owner all his life, and a strong supporter of humane organizations and nature conservancy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Esther; son David (Kay) Renault of Mansfield, Mass.; son, Donald Renault of Houston, Texas; daughter, Dawn (Stephen) Allen of Grosse Pointe; son, Roger Renault of Alton, Ill.; granddaughter, Tracy Renault of Mansfield, Mass.; sister Margaret Barth of Meredosia, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, so no visitation will occur. A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date.
In liew of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association of the Michigan Humane Society.
