Reva May Waton
Reva May Watson, age 89, of Springport, died May 11, 2003 at Eaton Rapids Medical Center. She was born June 1, 1913 in Albion, the daughter of William Sanford Childers and Sarah Lavina (Broughton) Childers. Mrs. Watson was a lifelong resident of the area. She worked at Union Steel in Albion for 25 years and enjoyed making pictures with wild game feathers. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon E. Watson, and sisters Georgia Marshall and Clara LeClear.
Surviving are her son, Vernon U. Watson of Albion, daughter Patricia Earline Carolthers, Ocala, FL, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services were held at Albion Memory Gardens with Rev. Robert T. Doner officiating. Burial followed at Albion Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in Mrs. Watson’s name. The family was served by Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapel in Albion.
“Don” Evans Watts
“Don” Evans Watts, age 75 of Eaton Rapids, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 in Eaton Rapids. Don was born, Oct. 15, 1927 in Dillion Co., SC the son of Harley and Lula May (Driggers) Ard. Don was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict and retired from driving trucks in 1989. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Karen Watts; son, Richard Carl Watts; 3 grandchildren, Paul Baker, Jr., Tyler Lee Fuller and Branden Michael Howard. Surviving are 5 daughters, Marsha (Bruce) Wood, Patricia (Paul) Baker, Barbara (Tom) Powers, Sandra (John) James all of Eaton Rapids, Connie (Dan) Fuller of Charlotte; son, Donald (Lonnie) Watts of Eaton Rapids; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Joyce (Kenneth) Matthews, Frances (Mutt) Matthews, Judy (Curt) Allen; 4 brothers, Buddy (Pat) Ard, Edward Ard, Jimmy Ard, Roger (Charlene) Ard; and numerous nices and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wed. July 30, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids, with Rev. Stephen Klink officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service.
David C. Way
David C. Way, 56, of Bellevue, died Oct. 6, 2003 at home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1947 to Bernard and Barbara (Rogers) Way in Battle Creek. David was stationed in Germany while serving in the Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked for General Motors, Buick Oldsmobile Cadillac Division in Lansing of 39 years. He married Elizabeth Wesner on July 26, 1969; she survives. David was a member of the NRA, enjoyed working with his horses, huntering, working on his house and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, daughters, Barbara (Daryl) Brock of Charlotte and Connie (Jamie) Endsley of Bellevue; three grandchildren; his mother, Barbara Way of Punta Gorda, Fla.; brother, Rick (Rosemary) Way of Punta Gorda, Fla.; sisters, Judy (Lamoine) Jansen of South Dakota, Dawn (David) Mason of Alva, Fla. and Connie (Bill) Sempf of Dowling.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Way.
No services are scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Arrangements were by Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.
Jean Coffey Webster
Jean Coffey Webster, age 88, of Bloomington, Ind. died Sunday morning, April 13, 2003 in Bloomington.
Born March 30, 1915 in Greenview, Ill., she was the daughter of Henry Jackson and Mary (Fulton) Coffey. She attended Greenview schools, obtained a registered nurse degree at Union Hospital School of Nursing in Terre Haute, Ind. and received a bachelor of science degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. During World War II, she served with the U.S. Army 32nd General Hospital in England, later transferring to the 104th General Hospital where she became the chief nurse. Following D-Day, she served in the Marseilles staging area in France, completing her tour of duty with the 134th Evacuation Hospital in Rheims. She then completed her master of arts in nursing education from Columbia University Teacher’s College in New York and did additional graduate study in nursing administration at Michigan State University in East Lansing. During a long career of service, she was a consultant for the Michigan State Public Health Department, the Michigan State Board of Nursing, and taught nusing home administration and continuing education at MSU. From 1949 to 1953 she was director of Nursing and Nusring Services in Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind. In Recognition of her distinguished service, the Indiana University School of Nuring designated her an honorary alumna – one of 12 selected in the first 55 years of the school. Her former students established the Jean Webster Scholarship Fund in her honor to provide nursing scholarships at the I.U. School of Nursing. She was a member of the Greenview United Church in Greenview, Ill.
Survivors include her sister, Marjory Coffey Sparks of Bloomington, Ind.; five nephews and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Webster of Charlotte, whom she married in October 1953; he died Arpil 26, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Robert E. Coffey.
A graveside funeral service was held April 18 at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview, Ill., with Rev. Robert Hanson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jean Webster Scholarship Fund. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home in Bloomington, Ind.
Roland J. Webster
Roland J. “Webby” Webster, 50, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
He was born Sept. 25, 1952 in Greenwich, Conn. To Roland and Janet (Barlow) Webster and moved to Michigan in 1999. He was a self-employed stonemason for several hears and had also been a farmer and auto mechanic. Webby had been a Boy Scout leader in New York. He belonged to the First Congregational Church in Vermontville and his hobbies included gardening, artwork, drawing scripture in stone, ocean fishing, golfing and traveling. He loved animals and is credited with having a remarkable sense of humor. On Oct. 9, 1999 he marred Catherine Claucherty; she survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Janet Moore of Connecticut; son, James Webster of Connecticut; step-daughter, Rachel Claucherty of Bellevue; step-sons, Abraham Claucherty of Potterville, Samuel Claugherty and Elijah Claucherty, both of Bellevue; and sister, Marjorie Hutto of Connecticut.
Preceding him in death were his fater and an infant brother.
A memorial service was held Sept. 3 at the Vermontville First Congregational Church, with Rev. Eric Lison officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Vermontville or Chief Okemos Council of Boy Scouts. Arrangements were by J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home of Albion.
Allyson and Andrea Weller
Allyson Marie and Andrea Sue Weller, infant daughters of Mike Weller and Angela Stinson of Potterville, died Oct. 23, 2003 at Sparrow Hospital.
The girls are survived by their parents, and grandparents, Otho and Georgia Weller of South Carolina and Dennis and Sue Stinson of Charlotte, Michigan.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27 with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. with Fr. John Fain of St. Gerard Catholic Church of Lansing officiating.
Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte.
Archie L. Weller
Archie L. Weller, 71, of Charlotte, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Weller was born Dec. 29, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Floyd and Florence (Allen) Weller. He married Linda Everett, Oct. 29, 1971. Archie served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post #225 of Lansing. He had been an electrician for General Motors for 13 years, retiring in 1993.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; two sons, Benny (Chris) of West Olive, Brian of Charlotte and Todd (Nicole) Fitz of Holland, Amy (Dale) Hicks of Lake Odessa, and Yvonne and fianc’ee Harold Robbins of Parma; six grandchildren; and sister, Kathleen Perdue of Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held March 10 at Pary Funeral Home, with Pastor Robin Crouch officiating. Burial was at Gresham Cemetery in Chester Township.

David R. Wells
David Raymond Wells, 42, of Clio, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 in Saginaw.
Mr. Wells was born June 27, 1961 in Seattle, Wash., the son of Douglas and Juanita (Rodriguez) Wells. David was a musician who loved his music, and loved performing it. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Clio.
He is survived by his daughter, Shae of Flint and her mom, Shirley Wells; mother, Juanita of Pomona Park, Fla.; sisters, Diana and Denise Wells of Florida, Dawn Dooling and her husband Pat of New Jersey; many auntz, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his many friends at the Cloverleaf in Clio.
He was preceded in death by his father in May 2003 and his uncle, Rod Rodriguez in September 2003.
A funeral mass was celebrated Dec. 24 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte, with Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Kalamo Township.
