Hayden Wonnacott
Hayden Thomas Wonnacott, five month-old son of Jeremy and Amanda (White) Wonnacott of Lansing, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003. Hayden was born Aug. 9, 2002 in Lansing.
He is survived by his parents, sister Taiya Marie Wonnacott, grandparents Suzanne Wonnacott of Olivet, Thoms and Sibyl White of DeWitt, great grandparents Gerald and Joyce Wonnacott of Charlotte, Elmer and Betty White of Grand Rapids, Mildred Henderson of Milford, Ohio and Virginia Keesling of Kalamazoo, aunts Adrienne White of East Lansing, Jenna Wonnacott of Olivet, and uncles Jared and Jamie Wonnacott of Olivet.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas Wonnacott in 1999. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, with David Lynch officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Pray Funeral Home.

Boyd L. Woodbury
Boyd Lee Woodbury, 67, of Potterville, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003.
Mr. Woodbury was born Dec. 16, 1935 in West Branch, the son of Oswell and Verna (Wonser) Woodbury. He worked as a blacksmith and raised and trained horses. He had been active in 4-H and other horse associations and assisted with the Handicapped Riders Association.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Simpson; stepdaughter, Cinnamon Simpson; brother, Lester (Norma) Woodbury of Vermontville; sister, Phyllis (Edgar) Smith of Charlotte; and a step-grandchild, Abbigail.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Wayne Woodbury.
A memorial service will be announced at a lter date.

Merrill Woodbury
Merrill L. “Bill” Woodbury, 73, of Charlotte, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 in Lansing.
Mr. Woodbury was born May 19, 1930 in Eagle, the son of Howard and Lena (Slocum) Woodbury. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a retired welder, truck dfriver and farmer, and worked as a cook after his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (Pope, Longley) Woodbury; sons, Merrill L. Woodbury Jr. of Charlotte, Danny Woodbury of Washington, Tracy Woodbury of Webberville and George (Geraldine) Pope of Charlotte; daughters, Jennifer Woodbury of Charlotte, Karen (Fred) Runken of North Carolina and Lucinda Woodbury of Sears; sister, Joyce (Carson Eugene) Spence of Owosso; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter Susan Vernon, his parents, brother Morris and Melford, and sister Janice Lee.
Funeral services were held July 24 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Rev. Richard Garn officiating. Interment was a Benton Township Cemetery in Potterville.

Elaine A. Woolston
Elaine Ann (Challender) (Williams) Woolston, 69, of Vermontville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing.
Mrs. Woolston was born Aug. 7, 1933 in Lansing, the daughter of Lester and Irene (Washburn) Challender. She was raised in the Lansing/Grand Ledge areas, attended schools there, and lived in the Vermontville area for the past 40 years. She married Garth Wooston on Sept. 10, 1983. Mrs. Woolston was employed at A-E Hoover Company in Charlotte for 29 years. She was a member of Maple Valley Area CB Club, with the calling handle “Kitty Kat.” She was a Christian strong in her faith, loved her family, friends and animals – especially dogs, cats and birds. She took great pride in her vegetable gardens and preserving the food they produced. She loved nature and being outdoors, and had a passion for gospel music, books and writing poetry.
She is survived by her husband, Garth; son, Lynn (Karan) Williams of Raliegh, N.C.; daughters, Brenda Williams-Grove of Charlotte, Laurie (Tom) Williams-Bradley of Longwood, Fla. and Rebecca Williams-Kienutske Knoll of Nashville; step-daughter, Vicky (Wayne) Schipper of Nashville; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews and two step-grandchildren; sister, Ann (Ron) Blommer-Olmstead of Vermontville; step-father, Howard Blommer of Vermontville; step-sister, Beverly Blommer of Allen Park; and step-brother, Robert Blommer of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lynn; and sisters, Donna and Lucille.
Graveside services were held June 14 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville, with Rev. Michael Arnold officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Vermontville.
Arrangements were by Maple Valley Chapel of Nashville.
Nancy C. Wynkoop
Nancy Caroline Barstow Wynkoop, 88, of Charlotte, died Monday, July 21, 2003.
Mrs. Wynkoop was born Dec. 17, 1914 in Alhambra, Calif., the daughter of Alfred and Bernice Gary Barstwo. She was a devoted believer in Christ since her youth. She was married to her husband, Stratton Wynkoop, on April 10, 1943. Mrs. Wynkoop had a great joy of life and was enthusiastic and adventurous. She was an artist who enjoyed drawing, traveling, reading and visiting her children and grandchildren. She and Stratton enjoyed bicycling, boating and camping, crossing the country many times. Mrs. Wynkoop volunteered for many charitable causes, including the Community Kitchen of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
She is survived by children, Katrina (Richard) Wynkoop-Simmons of Olympia, Wash., Peter (Frances) Wynkoop of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Susanna Killian of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Linda Oswald and Jonathan (Christine) Synkoop, both of Charlotte, and Mary (John) Burns of Louisville, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, Caitlin Simmons, Andrew Wynkoop, Richard (Sharon) McDowell, Susan (Darren) Cagle, David Killian, Peter Killian, Gina (Ty) Sanders, John Oswald, Owen Burns, James Burns, Lucy Burns, and Sophia Burns; and five great-grandchildren, Patrick and Tyler McDowell, Lauren and Olivia Cagle, and Tyson Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Stratton; brother, Alfred Gary Barstow; and sister, Mary Rhodes Barstow Rockwell.
Funeral services were held July 25 at Evangel Christian Church in Charlotte, with Pastor William Tate officiating.

Cynthia Yates
Cynthia Yates, 49, of Charlotte, died Dec. 2, 2003, ending a two-decade struggle with depression.
Born June 12, 1954 in Charlotte, Cindy received a bachelor of arts from Michigan State University in 1981. She lived most of her life in Charlotte. Cindy loved fine literature and was a voracious reader. She collected family antiques and photographs and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and her cat, Izzy.
Cindy is survived by her parents, Rod and Joyce Yates of Charlotte; sisters, Susan of Williamstown, Mass., Judity (Paul Williams) and Kate (Tom Cizek), both of Traverse City; nieces and nephews, Charis, Dave, Andy, Colin, Libbie, Cam, Laura and Donny. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a nephew, Jesse. A memorial service was held at First Congregational Church in Charlotte on Dec. 6.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Cindy’s name, to Habitat for Humanity, Hayes Green Beach Hospital or the Charlotte Public Library. Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Myrl N. Yeomans
Myrl N. Yeomans, 86, of Bellevue, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Battle Creek Health Systems.
Mr. Yeomans was born Feb. 3, 1916 in Kalkaska County, the son of Dallas and Lela (Harting) Yeomans and had been a Bellevue resident fo 57 ½ years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; was a retired employee of the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors, with 38 years of service; served as a part-time police officer for many years for the village of Bellevue, and prior to that had served for a short time for the city of Olivet. He was a member of the Michigan Sheriff’s Association.
Surviving are his daughter, Sharene “Sherry” Wilbur of Bellevue; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Zata Hagelstien of Troy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Kelly) Yeomans in 1998; son, Barry Yeomans in 1976; and two brothers, Coral and Melvin Yeomans.
Memorial services were held Jan. 6 at Burkhead-Green Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Pastor Bill Tate and Dick Dye officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue Fire Dept. and Medical First Responders, the Bellevue United Methodist Church, or the Evangel Christian Church in Charlotte.
Nina Zakshesky
Nina Zakshesky, 89, of Vermontville, passed away Nov. 18, 2003.
Mrs. Zakshesky was born May 4, 1914 in Herron, the daughter of Andrew Harrison and Mable (Rupinski) Barker. Nina was a homemaker and a farmer who always had a handshake, a smile and a kiss.
She is survived by son, Thomas (Barbara) Zakshesky of Charlotte; daughters, Angie Price of Grand Ledge, Mary Jane Hummel of Charlotte, Virginia (Joe) Harvey of Vermontville; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, John Harrison of Alpena.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Henry Zakshesky in 1988; son Joseph in 1978, and infant Francis Lucy in 1936.
Funeral services were held Nov. 22 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with Charles Jensen officiating. Interment was at Sunfield Cemetery. Casket bearers were LeRoy, DeWitt and Nicholas Hummel, Phil Ross, Shawn Cox, Rick Moore and honorary casket bearer Joshua Price.
Arrangements were by Pray Funeral Home of Charlotte.
Edmund P. Zerfas
Edmund P. Zerfas of Eaton Rapids, Michigan and Ft. Pierce, Florida, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Ft. Pierce, Florida at the age of 80.
Surviving are his wife of 21 years, Opal, seven children, Vicki (Jeff) Rumsey of Big Rapids, MI, Deb (Dan) Rabakon of Springport, MI, Gayle Zerfas of Big Rapids, MI, Bill (Linda) Zerfas of Meridian, ID, Joel (Gwyn) Corona of Somerset Center, MI, Billy (Debbie) Horrison of Jackson, MI, and Randy (Kim) Corona of Somerset, MI, 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers, Monisignor Herman Zerfas, Gerald Zerfas, and Ronald Zerfas, three sisters, Sister Claudette, Bernice Sibal and Delores Douglas, numerous nieces and nephews, and best friend, Ed’s poodle, Babette. Ed was a lifelong farmer in Michigan. He also was an avid fisherman while in Florida.
The Christian Mass will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Eaton Rapids, MI on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ben Constantine officiating. Interment will follow at Springport Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Robertson Funeral Homes, Springport chapel on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. The rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church.
Richard W. Zentmyer
Richard W. Zentmyer, 85, of Charlotte, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Zentmyer was born June 5, 1918 in Sylvan Center, the son of Cyrus and Vergie (Stuver) Zentmyer. He owned an appliance repair business until he retired. He served his country during World War II in the 8th Army Infantry Division and was a life member of VFW Maple City Post #2406 in Charlotte. He married Reatha Satterlee Dec. 22, 1946 and she survives him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lavonne in 1994.
Funeral services were held Aug. 12 at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte, with George Howe officiating. Interment was at West Carmel Cemetery.
